Got a call re lowering my credit card bills.  Is this a scam?

They called and didn't leave a message. I had missed the call....

this number called I answered and it was automated response and they made it sound that they had very very very important information about my visa, master card, and american express cards.  I only have one of those three cards so I hung up  sounds like a scam to me

I just got a call from this number and did not answer the phone.  I am on the do not call list, so who the heck are these people?  This is the first time I've seen it on my caller ID!  
I cannot stand telemarketers!!

I'm quite nervous about this...got a call yesterday at home, didn't answer.  This morning I got to work and there was a message on my work number too-it was cut off, said something about "if you'd like to leave a voice message."  I'm hoping they're just autodialing my whole zip code, and that they didn't actually know that these two numbers are both me.

Called me on my cell phone!  Thank goodness, I did not answer.

They called my 13 yr old daughter with an important message about her credit card.  They don't even know the type of card.  She doesn't have a credit card.  After the third call she answered it and the person wanted her credit card number so she could get a lower rate.  She told them they shouldn't be calling kids cell phones and the caller hung up.  This sounds like a scam to me.

call them back and press 1 so they cld take you put you on the do not call  list

I have had several calls from these people and I believe it is a total scam.  I pressed the number to be taken off the list but got called again-- so I talked to a person and they promised to take me off the list.  THEN I got called this morning (Saturday- day off) and I told the person I did not want to be called and she hung up on me.  When I try to call back, a message tells me I cannot call this number back.  Who can we report it to?

My brother got a call today, thank goodness he didn't answer. This definitely sounds like a scam to me.

Well I got a call and after the recorded message prevaricated about my card issuers wanting to talk with me. The live body came on and mumbled a greeting. I asked who he was with. asked if I wanted to save money on my interest rates. I asked again who they were with and they hung up.

Message stated I was only paying my min balance on my credit card and he could lower my interest rate?? No credit card company name mentioned. I pay my balance every month. Beware this is a scam.

I got a call from this number on my cell phone..... Now, I happen to be a telemarketer, so I know that by them calling you on your cell phone, they are not violating the do not call list. That only applies to home phones, it does not apply to businesses or cell phone. However, it is just plain rude to call someone on their cell phone. I personally won't while I'm working because I know that the matter is not that important. I didn't answer because I was working. They didn't leave a message and I have never received a call back.

These would be incoming international calls.  CallerID works by sending  the 'number'  THEN the "ID" is matched with records in a two step process.
So the caller is using different numbers in a foreign country and it matches different local  names in the US each time when the ?callerID name? shows up on your system.
Same old lie, that they are ? Data compiler for Google search directory?.  They are using new technology to interrupt and waste your day.
The telemarketer is using technology and lies to harass, interrupt and annoy busy hardworking business owners.  Please don't fall for their tactics.  Please don't reward and encourage them by doing business with them. Don't put you and your business in danger by giving them info.

I received this call on a vonage line--and it went to voicemail.  When I picked up my messages, I got about 20 seconds of silence, followed by a beep such as you'd get if you called someone and your call went to their voicemail, so you could leave a message.

The beep was followed by about 20 seconds of silence that I suspect was for me to respond and verify that the number is valid.  I tend to agree with Curtis--this is a method to determine active numbers for telemarketing purposes. Don't pick it up.
