I've had the same problem with the Pioneer Press. I purchased a prepaid 1 year subscription. When it expired I decided not to renew because the price was nearly double the earlier deal. Instead of ceasing delivery, the kept on (despite my asking them to stop) and then I received calls from these guys trying to sell me a new subscription.  I declined and told them to stop delivering papers.  Eventually they called and said that I owed them for the deliveries they had continued to make (though I had never authorized them or resubscribed.)  They had the audacity to then offer me a deal on a new subscription which would then "take care of" the amount they said I owed.  I used to support the Pioneer Press as the 'underdog' versus the Minneapolis Star Tribune, but I now despise them for employing these tactics.  May the paper die a slow and painful death, and the subscription/marketing staff slide into that special abyss reserved for their kind (which would, of course, include pedophiles and necrophiles.)

This number has been calling me for a number of days. I did not pick up because I did not have anybody living in NV to call me. I answered it today and a female voice asked "It this '.......' residence ?" and I answered "yes ?", and she just hangs-up. Sounds very fishy to me. Is there anything we can do ? Can we report this number to the police ? or some authorities ?

This number just called my house about 10 minutes ago. i heard a lot of noise in the back round so that most likely means its a telemarketer or bill collector or something. its kind of creepy because when i answered it the man asked if i was my mom and if this was 'my last name' residents. i said no and that we just moved here. (he sounded creepy so i pretended) and then he says "Well im from 'some news company' and we would like to give all the new residents free couponswe'll ship them right to your front door no cost." i knew immediately he was trying to fool me. i just wish these people would stop calling ALL OF US!!

ID said CNG and the message left said it was the Pioneer Press.  He kept saying, "hello, hello and then said Earth calling Apple Valley". What a jerk!  Will report to the do not call registry

I did a search and found out this was from Sprint/Spectrum. I have been emailing them and here is the reply...
Thank you for contacting Sprint.

We know that the Ft. Apache store in Las Vegas has been closed.
However, the phone system is still active.

We are trying to find out how long it has been closed and when the
phones will be shut down.

Can you let me know the last time that you received a call from that
number.

Please contact me at 1-866-954-0492, select option 5 and ask for
extension 3373.

I can't tell you how many times they have called over the past 2 years and I keep telling them I don't like the paper (Times Herald - Middletown, NY - a trash paper), but they seems to hunt down all my numbers.

On another tepemarketer I told them that the person they were looking for was dead.  Guess what; they stopped calling.

This number has been calling me off and on for quite some time. Sometimes there is no one there and sometimes there is. They are calling to get me to subscribe to The Saratogian newspaper. I currently have a Sunday only subscription and told them that I do not want the weekly subscription. They were supposed to take my number off their list, but just got a hang up call from them. I called the newspaper (who confirmed they are ligit) and told them I would cancel and go with the other local paper if they called again. Now lets see if they can get them to stop calling.

I did a reverse number look up for this number and it is listed to Sprint Spectrum out of Nevada. I emailed sprint at sprint.com and asked them how to be taken off the calling list and they said to call 1-888-382-1222 from the phone that is receiving the calls. They have called my phone 3 times yesterday and already 3 times for today. I hope this resolves the problem. I also reported the phone number since the number they are calling me at is on the "do not call list".

Also Upstate NY here, been getting these calls for a few weeks with "Nevada Call" appearing on the caller ID.  Always either at work or out when they call so I haven't talked to them yet, although they tried again today, it's SUNDAY, you think they would give it a rest.

We've been getting these rotating phone number calls for years, supposedly from newspapers all cross the country, sometimes our own hometown papers... supposedly. Always a different number. We never answer unrecognized phone numbers as a rule, but it is annoying 3-4 times a day. So I block each and every new solicitation number with my phone system security feature after several repeat calls, and a month or two later a new number starts calling and we start all over.

Ok, here's the way I see it. I could be right, I could be wrong. But it smells like a scam network. We are all on a phone list that got sold and resold and eventually it was picked up by theives. Depending on the list, (in many cases from old newspaper subscriptions throughout the country) you are pitched a line (or perhaps the number is just verified as active and tucked away for the next scam) and the ultimate goal is to eventually get your credit card number. I'm willing to bet the cell phones are temp disposibles. Scumbag makes 1000-5000 calls within a month or two, maybe gets 1-2-3 suckers to give a card number, rips them off and it's all worth it. Then the list gets passed to a new temp cell phone caller/number scumbag and it starts all over again.

Either that or the newspapers are dealing with some real scummy telemarketing agencies.

Just my 2-cents.

Good Luck.

calls began once daily, now they are up to at least 3 times a day.  They
start around 9 a.m. and stop around 8 p.m.  This has been going on for a few weeks now. I also live in upstate NY and I'm pretty sure if my local
newspapers were soliciting, the number would at least be in the same area code as mine!
