Received a call from someone with a strong accent, said that they were calling because their central server had identified that I was sending out messages indicating that I had viruses from a Microsoft update. Asked who he was and he said he was with Microsoft PC Support. Asked him how could I validate that he was who he said he was - he said to call 706-605-4361.

I asked him what he wanted to do. Asked me to open up the "event viewer" on my PC. Kept getting phone connection problems and told him he would have to call me back. Never did open "event viewer." Purpose he said was to validate whether I had certain software viruses or not. Told him I thought you said I had viruses per your central computer. He said no that they had to validate whether I had one or not.

Told him I would have to validate he was with Microsoft or one of their vendors. He told me - well you know they are just a hardware vendor. I asked him if they weren't directly associated with Microsoft - how did they get a message saying that I had a virus. He said that that came from their central computer. Said fine - how did their central computer get it if Microsoft didn't send it? He said that I needed to talk to his Tech Support supervisor. In about a minute the phone was disconnected and there were no further call backs.

I did a reverse phone search and it shows it was associated with a telemarketer at WindowsPCSupport. An obvious scam, get you to open the event viewer, and it will show errors. Of course they can fix them for a fee, or to take charge of your system or put malware on your system.

Don't ever give anyone access to your system or financial information if you get a cold call.

They called me on a new home phone number some guy with a accent went through the whole thing.  I played along then he wanted my security information from my computer.  I stopped he then gave me the number 702 605 4361.  If they are so in tune to my computer viruses I guess they should have known that too.  Ran my virus scan and nothing comes up.  So its BS.

Beware/fyi,

I got this ?cold-call? today from a stranger with a heavy foreign accent.  He claimed he was with a division of Microsoft support and he was giving me a courtesy call to let me know my computer was generating some errors and they are being asked to provide this call to help prevent the known virus that was causing the errors.  He kept referring to it as the ?online infection? and it generates little yellow and/or red errors in your event logs.    Which most people know that every computer has little yellow and red errors or ?informational? messages in the event logs but most are not important and are just informational.  He kept asking me to get in front of my computer so he could help me remove the virus.  All I needed to do was tell him a little bit about my system ?.  Naturally, I knew what was going on and I tried to hold in my laughter before I began to bombard the ?good citizen? with questions that only a seasoned MCSE or CISSP could even begin to understand.  For some reason, I was not surprised when he pretended to put me on hold and ?somehow? we were disconnected.   The number came in on the caller ID as ?UNKNOWN? but before I let into him, Mr David Spencer (the good citizen with the heavy foreign accident), gave me his return number  (702-605-4361)  when I asked for it (so that I could call him back and get a better connection ? ha ha).  After he dropped me, my curiosity got the best of me so I did call to see if that number actually existed (from a different line of course), and he actually answered with a pleasant Microsoft Support greeting?    so I said, ?hi David how?s it going??  He was a bit startled and immediately apologized for an accidental disconnection and then he brought on a supervisory voice (with a completely different type of accent (sounded British)).   David?s ?supervisor? tried to explain to me that there must have been some crossover on David?s line and they were not computer support but rather E-bay trying to reach a mister Jack Walker instead of me.   So I asked the Supervisor his name (Mr. Jason Mathew) and if his direct report (David Spencer) that had just answered the phone as Microsoft ? and that just gave me this number to call you back on for computer tech support was moonlighting as both a Microsoft Support technician and an E-Bay sales rep?  I guess the supervisor didn?t like my tone.   He hung up on me again.

Anyways,  this is what I attribute it to?.  A known scam that is ongoing so beware!

Are you and John Pullen (above) going to play against eachother?

Since were also a Scottish footballer who played as a centre-forward, I think it would be a good match. lol

I remember you when you were the Welsh footballer who played as a centre half. An imposing defender, Pullen made a name for himself at Ebbw Vale before joining Plymouth Argyle in 1924

The 'unknown' caller using this number is definitely a scam. When I asked where the caller was located he said Texas, but then could not answer any questions about the state. His voice had a faint accent which seemed Indian. He also could not answer pointed questions about how exactly his employer would know that my computer was compromised.  DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME SPEAKING TO THIS CALLER.

First, this is a decent forum.  Please do not post profanities or tell us about your disgusting and  inappropriate relationship with your mother here.

Second, you and your bottom feeder buddies have no ones but yourself to blame for being outed as scammers for shilling on here.

"Crystal" w/ heavy Indian accent calling from 1-000-000-0000, OS Support, www.ossupport.co [not a typo - no "m"], registrar Parimal Kumar is in India. www.osssupport.us has an NC registrar, company's "terms and conditions" list Florida as the venue state for legal actions brought by customers against OS Support. Crystal claimed to be calling from NY on a computer phone.

Prices on website are in Euros, she quoted US$60 for their anti-virus software and US $160 for one year of tech-support. SCAM.
