Received a call from a 'private caller' stating that I was a winner of $3.5 million in the Publisher's Clearinghouse Sweepstakes. Representative obviously did not speak English as his first language or was otherwise illiterate. The sounds of a busy calling 'boileroom' were very evident in the background. When I voiced a bit of skepticism and asked for a phone number I could call to verify my winnings, the response was a bit disjointed and flustered, but was finally given (702) 609-9596. When called, another person of linguistically-challenged ability answered and hung up as I inquired about his credentials and the validity of the winnings. Definitely an off-shore scam perpetrated over very cheap equipment.

The number is registered to Ymax, so it's MagicJack all right.

A James Jefferson called for a Tony Bellagio Co. in Las Vegas. Wants us to buy a scratch card for $999.00 at our local drugstore and they will deliver $5 million dollars at our door and escort us (a policeman and an attorney) to the bank - once we have given them the scratch card!!! to deposit the check. He stated this was a lottery from having signed up with Publisher's clearing House. PCH does not do that or provide names to others. We called PCH and they confirmed the above.
