Bad news for robo callers:
http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/nomorobo-cuts-robocalls-article-1.1467733
IF it works, it should be great news for consumers.
The advent of this service could be the reason my phone has been ringing almost non-stop today with these types of calls.

I too have received numerous calls from this number. I am on the National Do Not Call List but continue to get unwanted calls. No matter what you tell these individuals they continue to call. Now I just put the call on hold and then hang it up.

The Robocall matches a telemarketing agency known at least at one point as "Secure America Corp"- though I have found they'll claim they aren't if you happent o get a human being on the phone. Nonetheless, the canned message is identical.

This guy's been collecting information about them for a while, apprently.

I picked up the phone and said hello and no ans... no one on the line. I really hate these calls. Do they actually think we would buy 'anything' from someone who is bothering us on the phone? I wouldn't trust them at all.
Flo 2013-09-28 18:15:08 Unknown
totally wrong. Robocalls do not use a "caller id" database. Please don't post if you are going to post misinformation...or perhaps that was your intention.

They don't leave a message if you don't answer. When I did answer, I got a recording about 'the FBI has reported break ins.' Glad the government is so concerned. My caller ID was just the # with a '1' in front.

Not every scammer is participating in this caller ID scam. You, and many others, are just victims of scammers in general, nothing to do with the caller ID database scam.

This number called me, Wednesday, Sep 11, 2013, at 10:46 am. Since I don't know this number or area, I didn't answer. They did not leave a message on my voicemail, so this call could not have been very important. Must be a telemarketer or a scam. Either way, if they don't leave a message, I definitely don't want or need to speak with them !!

9/11/13 ditto all the above. Three calls in two days at weird and inconvenient times. And they wonder why I don't answer the phone...they're dimmer than a 7 watt bulb.

Got this call last night - it said cell phone NV
Arthur 2013-09-11 17:17:41 Unknown
Caller ID showed "Las Vegas, NV". No message left.
Rabbi 2013-09-11 14:54:45 Telemarketer
Caller ID merely lists "Las Vegas, NV". My phone is connected to a fax so all callers get a fax tone on second ring. Takes them a while but most finally figure out the line is a dedicated fax line that I can call out on but no one can call in on. And it is the number AT&T list in their directory. Love messing with the minds of telemarketers. Family and friends know a different private, unlisted number that reaches me directly.

Call and hang-up -- annoying!!!

Called at 10:17am today. Same number from Las Vegas area. I picked up and waited until someone came on the line, as they began their pitch I interrupted and said "can you hang on one second" then walked into the kitchen and left the phone on my table. I have no idea how long they waited for me to get back on the line. I can only hope they waited a few minutes. That's a few minutes they couldn't annoy someone else.

They call during forbidden hours and leave no msg. Pretend to be someone selling a bogus burglar system. They are just bill collectors used by NY state for child support. National Recovery A***oles. Don't be an idiot and call them back expecting decency. Then they have an a human at that phone...which they will pester. Don't vote for Sen. Harry Reid ...they support him with campaign contributions.

Have received several calls from this number. They claim they will install a free home security system. I've called back the number on caller ID asking to be placed on their "do not call" list, but I am still receiving the phone calls.

Something about protection service. I didn't know the number so didn't answer. When I entered the number to check it other have gotten a call from the same number. It was a recording. It will say "if you don't want to received a call press 9" Don't do it. That just save it on my phone. Had to fo back in and delete it.

CID said Las Vegas NV. I never answer any call unless I know who it is, I just let them ring.
Joe_k 2013-09-10 20:59:05 Unknown
I don't have caller i.d. on my home phone and I still get calls. I get what you're saying but the theory is a bit flawed if those who don't have caller i.d. still get calls based on caller i.d. databases.

I have receved 18 calls from the above phone number since January of this year (18) CALLS 2 calls per month and am furios with what ever company this is. Nocompany name is given. The company wants to put a sign in my yard for some type of protection. I am callinh the FCC AND RECOMEND TO EVERY ONE to do the same. FCC Federal Communicatins Commision. Sick and tired of harassing calls from this number!!!!!!

There is no such thing as a "free security system." They will install a security system that requires a monthly paid subscription to work. Don't fall for their (or anyone's) "free" pitch.

They called, left no message. I looked up on google as they call in, and check them before i answer.
Thank you all for leaving your comments as always.. i let my answer machine answer.

Call Block Solution 2013-09-10 18:27:27 Unknown
I just blocked this number using OOMA. I dumped Charter phone at $40 per month and replaced it with OOMA premium service. After startup fees for the equipment you see in the TV commercials ($99 on special at COSTCO last November) and $10 per month if paid all at once annually ($120), i get to block over 250 numbers. Blocking a whole area code with the entry "202*", for example, counts as only once block. With the premium service they ported my existing phone number for no extra charge. You install the machine yourself and contact tech support if any issues during installation.
Had to add $12 per month for wireless security monitoring as I dropped my hardwired land line. I kept Charter high speed internet to use the OOMA voice over internet service. I break even in less than a year and then have low cost calling and, importantly, call blocking from my computer keyboard. There are other solutions, too, but OOMA is highly rated and I have been happy with it.

I never pick up unknown calls. No message left on the voice mail. I routinely block these calls where no message is left, and that's what I am going to do right now
