I got the same call as everyone else.. "John" was on the line but it was a recording.. I added him to my blocked calls on my Panasonic phone.. so that scam is done.. but the trouble is I keep adding more and more of these type of calls. If this had gone to my elderly mother who has dementia, I'm sure she would have signed up for it.. I keep having to cancel her "credit reporting" scams from her bank account. She's 87 and my Dad's 89 ..what the heck do they care if their credit is crap? They don't ..they don't have credit to begin with anymore.. they're way way over that phase of their lives.
The folks that perpetrate this scam are just scumbags that prey on the elderly and the fearful.
The DNC is pretty much a joke with robo dialing these days and all the "non profits" that can call regardless if your on DNC or not. .. and don't get me started on the political calls... Yikes!!!
It's almost as if I need to discontinue my home phone and go to straight cell phone service.
Also - They always seem to call at dinner time... no matter when I plan dinner! Gezzzzz.

I also got the call at 9:00 pm last night. I was not sure if it was a person or a recording. I was informed I had a medical alert system someone who really cared about me paid. I hung up.

If you think they won't call back you are sadly mistaken. Dialed numbers for calls like this are done off an autodialer that starts with (targeted area code)(prefix)0001 through 9999. Best bet is utilize caller ID and do NOT answer calls from these unknown numbers. IF its important they will leave a message on an answering machine or voice mail and you can return the call if necessary.
My favorite reaction to the occasional spam call i recieve is keeping a coaches whistle by the phone, and blast the caller as loud as i can. One of those portable compressed air boat horns would work too.

Called at 8:08 p.m. which is way to late for any company to call. As above, said it was "Senior Alert." Didn't answer. Obviously from the comments above, a scam. Hope for those who answered, it also wasn't one of those numbers that because you did talk to a real person along the way, that this is an off-shore number (though it was Las Vegas) and a HUGE phone charge appears on your bill. Unlisted numbers...no problem. They plug in, for example, 702-705-0001; 702-705-7002, 702-705-003, etc., etc., etc.

I got a call from John, caller ID had 7027057391 NV on it ,nothing more. He told me I had a medical alert system that needed to be installed that someone has paid for. I said I am not interested, he kept going saying a friend or loved one must be concerned about me and made the purchase, I just need to set up the appointment to have it installed...I said, I am not old enough to need one of those, he said anyone could have an emergency, if I would press 1 to accept the system and make the appointment. Once again I said I am not interested he says, even though it is paid for? I then hung up.

I have received numerous calls from this number, I pick up the phone and quickly hang up, do not listen to anything. I am tired of unwanted calls coming in when I am on the national no call list and the local no call list. what happened to the law that outlawed unwanted telemarketer calls?

He just hang up. I told him after I looked this up that it was a robo-scam. Thanks to all for the info!!!

Same as everyone else..but mine was a woman named "Betty"....they just keep talking so I realized it was a recording that sounded like a person actually talking to you. Scam....said they were trying to set up a delivery for my medical alert system...I hung up.

The robo-dialer must be overheating. Most commenters (including myself) only just now unwillingly received this irritating call.

Got the call tonight and heard the "It is paid for and $3000 of groceries" I have no one that is going to pay for a security system and I bet at best the $3000 of groceries is coupons. From what I have found I assume you do not get until the system until you authorize a $30 to $40 monthly payment from your bank account and probably with a healthy early cancellation charge.

They called and left no message.

Caller ID was "SENIOR ALERT." Presumed telemarketer.

I received the same call. At first i thought the caller was ignoring me when I tried to break into his pitch. Then I realized it was a recording. This telemarketing scheme could be confusing to an older person who might actually have reason to think the claim made -- that the caller is calling to schedule the delivery of a medic alert system that has already been purchased and paid for -- is real. The caller/recording doesn't say a family member has purchased this for you, but it is very much implied.

This person called at our dinner time, said he wanted to schedule a time to install a life alert system. We never ordered this. How is it that these scam artists get our unlisted phone number. This guy won't be calling us back because my husband let this loser know that he definitely made a Hugh mistake by calling our number. Sadly, this won't keep others from calling too. Too bad these losers can't find a legit job instead of scamming others.

Got call from a real person saying they are going to ship my pre-paid alert system. I asked how they got my number and they said that the item was already paid for and that $3000 worth of free groceries would be accompanying the system upon arrival. I had to raise my voice several times before hanging up. SCAM............
| Mike in Md 2013-11-12 21:51:58 Unknown |
That was actually not a real person but a recording done to fool people into thinking it is. You do not actually get to speak to a real person until you press a number. Then you find out they are actually trying to con you into signing up for an expensive monitoring service for your "pre-paid" alert system.

got robocall from 702-705-7391 caller ID said "SENIOR ALERT" on Tuesday 11-12-13 @ 332 PM.
I said "hello" A males voice said "This is John from the shipping department" I said "hello, hello". Not sure if it was a live person or recorder that was on the line but I got disconnected.
| Amused 2013-11-12 21:32:57 Telemarketer |
I decided to answer the call even though the caller ID said Senior Alert. A real person came on the line and started reading from his script. I said "Hello!" in a loud voice, faking an accent. He kept reading. I kept saying "Hello!" He kept reading. It was something about the delivery of "your senior alert equipment." I started laughing, hung up and added the number to my blocked call list on my Panasonic cordless phone.
Nothing like having fun with telmarketers! Made my day.

The caller ID was "Senior alert". I disconnected the call without answering. So far they have not called again.
