I got a call today Friday May 10, 2013 at 1:00 pm by some guy claiming to be a process server.  He then proceeded to tell me there was a case being filed against me by a law office for a debt I owed.  He said he needed my address to bring an officer to serve the papers.  He then said he went to my old address and had no luck.  I told him I do not live there and have got no papers.  He then said I can call Global Pacific Financial Services to sort things out, and he would put a temporary "stay of execution" on serving me papers (how nice of him) lol, and gave me this number:  1-888-375-0750 and case number # 00-28516.  I know that these post are for a different number but I wanted to show these fake consumers calling this legit, that this is by far a SCAM!!  I even went to google and the name of this company doesn't match this phone number.  Anyways, So I called the number to find out what was going on.  Some lady picked up.  I gave her my case number and she said she would transfer me.  Some guy picks up and says I owe money for an old Visa debt and I am being sued by his law office.  I think the amount was $600.  Then he says that I need to pay, and if I don't they will sue me and garnish my wages.  Right there I knew this was bogus and called him on his bluff and said go ahead and sue me.  You won't get a penny.  One thing I am sure of is that a civil lien doesn't garnish wages except for child support payments.  If you owe money for bad debt, you would pay them back only when you sell property, before you can buy property, or if you win the lottery or come into any kind of settlement.  The government can garnish wages i believe for back taxes and/or student loans.  Other then that, they can't do it.  I am so glad I found this blog, the other blog listed below, and I am glad I was right about my instincts.  I am posting another link below so people can see the same scam pulled by this same so-called company with a different call back number on other people just like us.  Local law enforcement even agree that this is by far a SCAM and don't fall for it.

Wow Richard ur call sounds so similar to mine except it was for a so called payday loan I got in 2008 five yrs old.... The person called from a blocked number and then gave me th 702-706-4273 number... Well before I decided whether I was going to call I looked up the number just to find out it was a scam... I'm keeping the number and logging my calls!

These are slime ball debt collectors. I was first contacted from a blocked # from a "process server", and that they needed to verify that I would be home to get served. Why would a process server try to let me know when I'll be served? They said I could reschedule and gave a #, 702-706-4273, to the firm "Global Pacific Financial Services". I was transferred over to a Richard Wagner, who proceeded to state I was being sued for 10 times my debt, but they could still settle me out. The debt was out of statute, and he did not state the mini miranda for the FDCPA. After I refused to give him my credit card info, he got irate, so I ended the call. Dont pay these scammers anything!

I got a call from this number and have been reading about payday loan scams. They claimed I had a payday loan that was not paid for in 2008 .  Which I knew I never had so I started investigating the number.. People need not be so trusting and watch what u put on Internet because hackers can find anything on u.. Thanks to all who posted on here...

I just was contacted by this office. It was in regards to a debt I left with wells Fargo. and regardless of what all these other ungrateful people have to say, these people cut the amount I owed into a fraction got me a letter stating the account was paid within 30 minutes of my payment running. I took that letter and mailed it to experian to update. Don't know what everyone else has to complain about, my experience was fair, quick, and beneficial.

This is a SCAM!!!  Why in the world would you pay anyone based on phone calls and EMAILS????  How Stupid.  Please don't fall for this.  It is definately a SCAM.  I got a call from them on my WORK number  claiming they were looking for my Daughter in Law who gave them my work number as a contact number.  NOT!!!  I called my Daughter in Law about this and it is a SCAM.

I was advised by my wife that there was documents that were scheduled to be delivered to my home address....she said there was a # to the firm that was handling this case. I contacted them the next day while i was at work, said there firms name was GPFS and that they were looking to pursue legal action against me for a balance that i left with credit one bank.......i remembered the account and the amount i spent was just over 900 bucks......i knew there was no way i could pay 900 because i only work part time now. The man that i spoke to told me he would wipe away the interest on the account and lower the amount to 400 bucks if i could take care of it now. I asked him for a letter from their firm before i gave them any information. He told me that wasnt a problem, and I received an email within 45 minutes, showing what we has spoken about. I paid the 400 and soon later received a "paid in full" letter from their office. I mailed that letter to experian credit bureau. and they actually updated that account to PAID on my credit report........im not sure what experiences everyone else had.....but mine seemed to be pleasant.....i know i sure couldnt have paid the 900, PLUS my wife and I are looking to purchase a home here soon, so i need all the help on my credit that i can get.......good luck to the rest of you

BEFORE YOU PAID ANYTHING OR CALLED THEM BACK AT THAT YOU SHOULD ALWAYS CHECK THE STAUTE OF LIMITATIONS IN YOUR STATE IF IT HAS EXPIRED NO ONE AND I MEAN NO COMPANY HAS A RIGHT TO CALL YOU OR CONTACT YOU.THEY ARE PROABLY A 3RD PARTY THAT BOUGHT YOUR ACCOUNT FROM THE ORIGINAL COMPANY. THEY CALLED ME ALSO BUT I KNOW THE LAWS FOR TEXAS WHERE I LIVE.AND ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SEND THEM A LETTER LETTING THEM KNOW THAT THE STATUE OF LIMITATIONS HAS EXPIRED IF IN FACT IF HAS. AND BY LAW THEY CAN NOT CONTACT YOU OR ANY FAMILY MEMBERS.

I got a call from them the other day talking about a debt I had years ago.  Didn't remember the credit card. And I told them I wasn't going to pay anything to anyone until I verify the account is legit. I got a copy of my credit report free and the account was on there.  So, I called the original credit card company and verified through multiple different companies that they do have the rights to collect this account.  So, I called them back and offered to settle with them.  They were very understanding and respectful.  They also said for every account they settle they donate $25 to a charity of my choice.  I don't know any company that does that.
