Since before xmas I got these calls that started with loud night-club type music. I always immediately hung up the phone. Until 8:45, last night, I hung on for whatever message was coming, because I thought I might need that info when I was going to report this matter to the police or phone co.
A person with a strange dialect (not quite Hispanic) told me that I had won a million dollars, a check for which, together with a new Mercedes, was going to be delivered to my residence today. (the fact that he knew my home address rather scared me.)
Last evening he insisted that I immediately, that same evening, go to K-Mart, CVS, or Sam,s and for $400.00 buy a Green Dot Money Pac. NO!! Then I should go first thing in the morning, and call him at 702 861 0008that I had done so, but, he added, my refusal would cause a delay in their delivering to me, that day, my one million and the Merc.. I hung up.
The next morning I happened have an electrician at my house, to whom I had just told the story. He answered the call for me. Who are you the caller asked him. The sherif, he said. The caller hung up. I then called the police department because I was still concerned about the fact that he knew my mailing address. Police told me keep house locked and call 911 if I suspect "he's out there".
I thought that ended the whole thing, but then, half an hour ago, that person called again. I hung up.
PS: I am 82 yrs old and live alone'

The Jamaican scammers usually call from 876 numbers, but they also use MagicJack or other VoIP service to look like they are calling from Las Vegas or Washington.
Report the Jamaican scammers to the FTC. They are cooperating with Jamaican authorities in "Project JOLT."

I just received a call from this number. This same group has been calling me for about 2 months. First with one story then another, but always that I have won big and also a mercedes, etc. I have repeatedly asked them to stop, I am not buying it, etc. even gotten very rude. They still keep calling. Anyone else know why they never give up even when they gotta know I am not interested? Seems nutso to me...How can I get them to stop?
