Although I applaud your service to this country. Saying that you didn't have others pay for your education is absurd. I believe its called tax payers money that paid for your education.

It's a scam. They say they are asking for donations from UNLV but I contacted UNLV and they are not associated with these scammers.
DO NOT GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION.
If you want to donate, do it through their website or in person. This phone is a scam. You have been warned.

Interesting posts ... 1) they call even though you are not an Alum 2) they do not leave a message - rude.
Here's another take on this .... if you need money for college, join the military, serve your country and get paid to go to college. I did, and I didn't have to have others pay for my education. This way you get an education while serving your country .... sounds like a better plan to me, students don't have to beg for money and they'll get to see how things work in the real world .... not how professors tell it ... but rather how it is.

It's Rebel Ring looking for money to support scholorships. However, not leaving a message and just contining to call does not get the request out. They shoudl at least leave a message.

I used to work for the Rebel Ring program when I was at UNLV. It is students just trying to help then school fundraise. It's a great program and the money goes towards the students and scholarships. It was really nice talking with alumni and seeking donations, we have some awesome graduates that are gracious enough to give back- whether it was a $10 or a $1000 commitment, it all is appreciated and serves a great cause.
And you do not have to donate over the phone, I requested they send me a donation card in the mail and I did it that way. I donated $100 and also wrote it off on my taxes last year, charitable donations have that perk, don't forget!
Support a great cause; help to improve the quality of education and financial position of a student! GO REBS!

Got this call and it was a student looking for a donation for the UNLV Annual Fund. I agree with J Watts about the credit card part. If you do want to donate, I would suggest that you ask for a more secure way to do it.

It's UNLV calling alumni for donations.

I recieved a call from this number and I wondered if it was real. I decided to look online. Glad I did. I'm a UNLV grad from 2002, and I wouldn't mind donating to help a young student earn the chance to get an education like I did. I just wish there was a way I could mail a check and not do it over the phone with a credit card number. Or, I could just stop by the college and find out a way to donate, I guess. I'm always going past there when I'm in town...and I'm in Vegas monthly.

I'm NOT a UNLV alumni and I don't need this.
I get charged when this happens and I shouldn't have to oay for calls I don't want.

I'm a UNLV alum and I encourage you to pick up the phone! I did! And I donated what was affordable to me! Whether it's $25 or $1,000 - it makes a difference!!! If every alum just gave back what they could, each year, UNLV could close the gap between what the state can't provide and what tuition doesn't cover. Don't tell them to stop calling you, ask them how much they need.

I have also received several calls from this number over the last few wees. Who is this?
| Amy Bouchard 2011-12-01 17:19:44 Non-profit Organization |
It's a call from the UNLV Foundation - Rebel Ring program. I received one last night.
Students are calling to seek donations to fund scholarships and provide alumni with updates about what's happening at the university. UNLV Foundation and the UNLV Alumni Association are seperate non-profit entities. The Foundation's mission is fundraising for the university and the Association's mission is keeping alumni connected with the university.
To stop Rebel Ring calls, simply tell the caller to add you to the do not call list. If you have any concerns or questions, feel free to give us a call.

400 million cut to education this year, 250 million last year.. Good God. Nevada has the worst education system in the world with the worst legislature.
| jordan 2010-09-19 22:46:14 Unknown |
its the UNLV alumni association, asking for a donation, just pick up and tell them your broke like I did; grad school tends to do that to people
