They've called me several times wanting to know if someone would be available to accept legal documents from the sheriff's department for my son.  My son lives in another city over 300 miles away,  so I asked her which sheriff's department she was referring to...she didn't know.  I'm on the east coast, she's in Nevada, so I knew immediately it was scam time.  My son doesn't know who it could be either.  I just tell them to kiss off now or ask them to hang on,  put them on hold, and see how long it takes them to hang up. If they hang on for five minutes, I go back on with "Sorry to keep you waiting, but I'll be with you in a second".  The go back to hold.

My mother recieved a call from the "Sheriff's Department" stating I falsified documents and would like contact information for me. She informed them I no longer live with her and they promptly hung up on her.  I tried calling the number listed on the caller ID and the number is disconnected.  Obviously a scam!

Update - They skirted the question plenty. They'll tell you that they're a credit processing and claims company, but won't give you the name of the company. I got them to give me an address of 114 S. Main St., Las Vegas, Nevada. I didn't even need to look on google to know that was practically in front of the Plaza Hotel.

When confronted with the fact that no legitimate company would ever hang up on someone for asking a completely legitmate question like, "What is your company name?" and "What is the address?" That alone sends up a red flag.

But when you politely call them out on their attempt scam and that they're lying about the address. They blow up on you and cuss up a wild storm before hanging up.

Also confirmed... 702-981-6585 and 702-981-6598 are the same people.

Same type of scam seems to apply to 702-981-6598 too.

Same number showed up on my ID. 702-981-6585 asking if someone would be home so an officer could deliver a court summons to a Michael (Last name wasn't caught). I have had this call no less than 15 times over the course of a year. Ironically the most recent call came 5 minutes after my mother got the same call. We don't even live in the same town, nor do we have the same last name.

Doing more digging around, if you call the number, you'll find that it's a Magic Jack service that is "unavailable". Which without a doubt indicates it's a scammer, likely phishing for information.

Some one keeps calling me with and unknown number. At least 25 different times. Then he called at around 8 am on Sunday. The number that was listed listed was 702-981-6585. He said his name is Mr. Dave Lewis. During our phone conversation the phone seems to be cutting in and out. He said that I had won a car and that UPS needed to send me something. Tomorrow morning 5-9-11 @ 9am a package would arrive that i needed to pay for.  I told him that I was reporting that he was calling me right at that moment and he hung up. That is when i started to send this message.

I sent UPS the following message on  4-30-11

Dear Ups,

Some guy, he says his name is Clinton Black keeps calling me on my cell phone. He has called me at least 15- 20 times and seems to hanging up a lot of those times. He stated that I had won some $ and needed to sign for the UPS package. On one call he said that the package would be delivered between 3- 4 pm on Saturday. I knew at this point that it had to be some sort of scam. I was not their for the package . My phone started to do some wired things after some of the calls so I would just turn it off. On the last call he said that he worked for UPS services in New Mexico and was trying to deliver a package for Global International. When I pressed him for a number to call back he gave me 876-580-7678. I check your web site when I got home and saw this was not an area code for New Mexico. I the number that he gave me is listed as being from Jamaican.
