Guy called and said he was from windows technical division and my computer told him that there was a virus. My wife got his phone number and she would call him back.  I called instead and said, how did you get our number.  He said its a Windows 8 system that notifies him.  I said we do not have a windows product in our house, only Apple.  He said I did not know what I was talking about that I didn't know computers.  That might be true, but I know an Apple from a Window.  I asked him who he worked for and he hung up on me. His name was Mike and he sounded like he was from India.  Gave me the number listed above.

This Indian guy walked me through some command lines (assoc and eventvwr) and knew my clsid. He showed me that there are some issues but wanted me to run www.ammyy.com on the command line. That did it! I told him I wanted to be sure he was on the up-and-up so he gave me the telephone number of 702-997-0207 which I then googled. Aha. Glad I went no further with him. I will ask my husband who is a sysadmin to advise and help if needed. Now I just hope this site (800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-702-997-0207) is not a scam too.

I just got off the phone to a person with an Indian accent who said he was calling from Microsoft Windows Tech Dept.  When I asked him for a phone number I could call him back on he gave me 702-997-0207.  

As an attempt to verify that he had information on my computer, I run two PC's and have a Windows 7 phone he said I was running Windows 7, which I am NOT running on any of these devices.

I did a Bing search on the number and found this site.  I am reporting this to Microsoft now.

claimed to be from "windows" &  that someone is using my computer illegally and has installed a virus

Will scan my computer for trojan horse now, but same calls as above, evidently from Internet Phone (echo and quality) and very unprofessional in addition. Found out that the phone is from Las Vegas while they claim to be calling from Microsoft Washington.

We spent the better part of our day cleaning up a trojan horse and viral attack on two of our computers.  The next morning, I was awakened by someone claiming to be from Microsoft who alerted me that there was a new problem.  He told me to contact "Microsoft Headquarter" IN SAN FRANCISCO, then gave me the above number IN LAS VEGAS to call and verify.  Luckily, I did not give him any of my information.
