Lot of people saying this is the Navy Federal Credit Union but if that's the case I don't know why they would be calling me. I wasn't in the Navy, I've never been a member of the NFCU or any credit union for that matter, and I certainly don't have a mortgage with the government. I'd bet money that it's another scammer with a call masker calling from India trying to get money. It's funny how the government knows these scams are going on and they do nothing to stop it.

I received a call from this number..my last name is hard to pronounce but I know with dealing with banks if they don't know how to pronounce your last name they will simply ask for "Nicholas" they completely butchered my name and sounded like they were uneducated scum by their tone. A week later Navy federal brought to my attention that my credit card was halted due to suspected fraudulent activity. I am almost positive whoever attempted to use my credit card also called me to get my information. It is very easy to make a phone call from a different number, there are apps on your phone that can disguise your number as another and it is my belief that these scumbags used this number to attempt to scam me. Be careful

Got a call from this number today no message could not call back called bank they said there was no note against our account and to watch out for possible scam because they had other calls like this.

Received call from (703) 272-2013.  She said she was the teller that helped me on Saturday, I was in the branch that day.  She said she made a mistake and needed to rule out my account.  Called customer service and they confirmed phone number and get that agent on phone.  She didn't say what the mistake was but she confirmed transaction.

I have been receiving calls from 703-272-2013 for months on my cell. There are very few people that have my cell number and now these jerks have it.
Too bad there isn't someone that can do something about these kind of people/calls.

Also: I was able to confirm that calling that number back will not work because it does not accept inbound calls only outbound.  Typically if you receive a welcome message they will give you a separate inbound number that DOES work, possibly a 540 area code as that is what my representative's direct line began with.  540 is a Northern VA area code.

I called the 888-842-6328 main number for NFCU and confirmed that the 703-272-2013 phone number is from a their headquarters location where they have a call center.  So call center to me means they will have several departments that handle several different things (i.e. welcome messages for new customers, mortgages, etc.).  

If you call the main line they should be able to tell if it has been noted on your account if they attempted to reach you from said call center.  Never hurts to ask!

I just got a call today in regards to possible ATM fraud from this number claiming to be Navy Federal Credit Union.  They didn't ask for any identifying information, but knew my address.  I called the number back and said it was a non working number.  I verified with Navy Federal that it was indeed a legit call.  As several people said before, don't volunteer out personal information and always verify!  

A call from the 703-272-2013 number IS fron NFCU - their system shows a "different" number that you can't call directly back on it. You are to use the general routing numbers for NFCU to contact them. Additionally - I was expecting a call from them and that was the call I missed. I know this because I just got off the phone with them TODAY and asked about the area code specifically.

A call from this number relates to a mortgage, auto loan or bankruptcy, etc. If you receive a call, I believe you should answer it. I am glad followed up and called the 800 & 888 numbers or I would have missed a very important call. But the choice is yours.

I keep getting calls from this number.  The first time I called it back and a recording came on that said, "you have reached a non working number for Navy Federal".  I don't have an account with Navy Federal.  I even tried to block it after I found out who they were and for some reason my blocking didn't work.  I got a call from them yesterday.

Call received at this number asking about a loan app in my name.  Call Navy Fed and they said this is not their number.  Called the number and it is a non-working number at Navy Fed.  Sounds like phishing.

One of the receptionists at my work received a call to verify my employment from this number. Someone claiming to be from Navy Federal. This all sounds like a scam; I have not opened any cards, applied for loans, or have anything in collections.  I called the actual 800 # for NFCU members & I verified with them directly that there were no notes or intentions from anyone at NFCU to verify my employment.  Especially since nothing was opened by me recently.  BEWARE THIS IS A SCAM. Be smart & don't answer any questions without knowing who is on the other line or what they are requesting it for.

All too fishy to me. This # called my work to verify employment. The guy was nervous when he talked and didnt say what the verification was refering to. I have not opened any new loans or credit cards lately. I am not late on any bills. I called the main 800 nfcu number and they confirmed that there was no note to call me regarding anything. BE SMART & CAUTIOUS  people.

Answered this call today. IT IS Navy Federal.  It was a courtesy call letting me know that Bill Pay on the new site is officially back up and running.

It is a valid and legal number from Navy Federal Credit Union.  Either you inquired about something, they have some information for you concerning your account, or you didn't pay your bills on time and they are trying to reach you!!!  It is not a scam...most of the people who say it is a scam are the ones that didn't pay their bills and are hiding from the collectors :)

This is a number, when a Navy personel overseas buys phone time to call the US...

Nothing wrong with this phone number. I applied for an auto loan pre-approval a few days ago. Yesterday I received a text from NFCU stating it was approved and my documents were ready for pick-up at my local branch. Just a few minutes ago, I received the phone call from the phone number in question. Let it go to voice mail. The voice mail said basically the same as the text. Said I had been approved for an auto loan and the documents were available for pick-up at the branch I had selected during the application process. LEGIT!!!

Got the call today. It is a scam.
Called NAVY Federal to confirm it is not them. My number is already listed on the DONOTCALL list.
FCC time and file a complain to Virginia Attorney General.

No it is not legitimate. I received a call from this number. When I answered they hung up. i then performed a reverse phone lookup. It came up as a Fairfax Virginia land line. It did not come up as a NFCU number. I then called the toll free NFCU #.  They knew this number and have it listed as a suspicious number. This number is not NFCU.

It is not a Navy Federal Number.  They tell you they are calling from "Navy Federal" but not Navy Federal Credit Union.  

Its a phishing scam.  They asked me to provide a letter from my credit counselor to let them know that I was applying for new credit.  Total scam.  Navy Federal would never ask for that kind of information.  

Don't believe the phone call.
