got a call from 703-2917-4813 they actually asked for my spouse by name when I told them they were not here they said okay and hung up. I called the number back and got a recording that said Thank you for calling the National Riffle Association.

Joe is correct. This is a call from a porn scammer. If you answer, they have your phone number and can locate your address and other information. Please do not pick up the phone or you will be harassed by porn solicitors. REPORT THE CALL !

Do not be fooled by this caller. It is a telephone porn service that if answered, searches for your address then puts your information on the internet for purposes of porn. Report them instantly as I have.

I'm an NRA member, too. NRA HQ is in northern VA--area code 703--about 10-20 miles from the locations at the bottom of this page, Alexandria, Annandale, and Arlington. That's just circumstantial evidence and pretty thin, but 5 mentions of NRA and at least 3 NRA members out of 14 comments, makes you wonder, eh?
Lots of non-profits call for contributions. On the rare occasions when I pick up--e.g., I'm tired of calls every dinner hour from a university alumni association--I tell them, "I don't respond to solicitations over the phone. Please mail your solicitation to me, and please, never call me again, okay?"
The real pros callers follow up with, "Certainly, Sir. Can I put you down for a $250 pledge?"
I just say, "No, thanks," and hang up.

Calls with these symptoms are often someone using a computer dialer, looking for a modem tone. Their computer, of course, will not respond to voices, only to modem tones. This used to be a common way of random hacking.
