I am a victim of identity theft and whoever is using this number has a way to hide behind a legitimate number such as this one for use of a call forwarding/voice mail service that they purchased and had charged to my ATT account.  The billing shows up as extra services and I found out that the person signed up for the service in my name on a website called crazyoffers.com.  Unfortunately for them their little scheme messed up long enough for me to catch their voices and the name of an individual that was bragging about how they were robbing my name blind by getting pay day loans.  I will be fighting this problem for years to come, but garaunteed, I will not give up until I find the pathetic fool that preys on those they think are weak.  Wrong person to pick on.  The battle has just begun, but I will not give up.  Will post back more info as I receive it.

Please stop these calls. I am not interested in your University

I'm a student at Strayer University.  I filled out an application somewhere that I was interested in signing up for the school. Also if you fill out an online application for jobs and you click that you are interested in pursuing further education you may be contacted.  Another possible scenario is they got your number when you had to fill out your education on a job application online and you did not have college listed in there and that business refered your information to the college and possiably other businesses.  There are a lot of job postings that are not legit but just taking your info and selling or providing it to other businesses as possible leads.  These fake job postings have nothing to do with Strayer University.

I am a current student and have received the call.  I just called them back and let them know I am already enrolled and they would take me off the list. You can also call them back and let them know you are not interested in the college and they will take you off the list.

Instead of googling the number and classifying them as a spammer, be a rational person and call them back.  You immediately get a message recording that it is Strayer University and just press one to talk to the registar office.  Telemarketing is a legit way for any business to try to reach their intended audience to get their sales up.

Strayer University also has brick and mortar schools along the east coast.  They offer online programs that are for working adults.  Many people may still have thoughts that an online college degree is worth less than a brick and mortar school, but as a hiring manager you have to realize times are changing and if you haven't participated in both online and full time phsycial location school, you don't know the difference.  A person with this attitude is most likely closed-minded and will only be hiring more closed- minded individuals with brick and mortar school degrees.

I have been contacted by my local newpaper to subscribe, but I don't automatically assume their newspaper is of less quality because they solicited me through telephone.

You can also opt-out which is what I have done and after a couple months I did not receive any soliciting phone calls or junk mail for credit card offers and other junk mail.  Just wikipedia opt-out to get the correct number.  You will have to provide your social security number, name, address and phone number.  If you do accidentally recieve a soliciting call you must inform them about you opting out and they are required to take you off their calling list and not call you again.  If that business does you can take action against you.

I have to say there is this company that is exempt from taking you off their calling list because they are not solicitating anything.  There is a business in Florida that everyone hates because they are calling people to answer survey questions.  I'm not sure how to deal with them as there was a time that I did receive repeated calls from them.  I filled out a complaint with the FCC I think it was and reported them and recorded the times they called and the number.  I also told them I would file legal action against them.  The calls stopped 2 weeks later.

I geuss in short, just call Strayer back and tell them to take you off their calling list.

Hi,
Please read the phone numbers:
Strayer's number ends with 1850.
The private number that people call thinking that they are calling Strayer ends with 1580.
You have the numbers inverted.

I had accidentally called the private home and they were very nice, trying to explain to me that I dialed the wrong number.  A kindly older sounding guy with an accent apologize saying that he did not have his hearing aid and was shouting thinking that I could not hear because he could not hear me.

Another time that I accidentally called their number, a woman with no accent answered saying that they get calls meant for Strayer at least 10 times a day, and sometimes they get tired of answering politely when they are in a hurry when I asked her how often they get calls meant for Strayer.

Just thought you should know.

It is a good school which challenging classes. The reg dept isn't that great though, and they screw up sometimes. Eg: I'm graduating with my Masters Degree in a few weeks. Last month, I received an email from Strayer's registration department welcoming me as a new student. I got this letter maybe three times. It happens. But either way, they won't harass you. Its an accredited institution. Just tell them not to call, if they call you. You probably gave them your number. As far as the weird accent guy who scams you. That is a different number 703-339-1580  (not 1850).

I can honestly say, I've never had a problem with them. And when they call, (which is rare) it is usually for something important.

I did give my phone number to Strayer University, but the caller was unprofessional and did not know who she was calling. Nor did she know why I may wish to speak to her about an Online degree. My impression is that a high quality degree program would have an equal high quality registrar office and not a call center using misinformed operators.

I will not choose this "University" so far based on the poor call service.
