The phone number 703-348-6523, using caller ID of "Urgent Alert", is from the NRA (National Rifle Association) telemarketers.
Our 911 systerm where I live uses an "urgent alert" caller ID to warn us of Amber Alerts and emergencies.

This is a boiler room operation.

The NRA has stooped to a new low.

Shame, shame, shame on you !

I am a member of NRA and am saddened to see them stoop to this low level i.e. giving dirt bag telemarketers my name add. tel. #  membership # etc. These calls are coming from Infocision. Yes they keep a percentage of every $ they collect.
Call the NRA membership number  800-672-3888 (wait on line-do not use any prompt) and ask them to remove your number from their calling list. Also report the 703 number to the ' do not call'  (yes I know -another useless government entity) but we got to pay them so give them a job title and keep reporting every call you get. I despise telemarketers or can you tell? Now I'm not too happy with the NRA either! The 5 minutes it will take you to do the above is worth your time.

Received the call this morning 5/20/14 at 10:03 A.M.   They had spoofed their caller ID to read  "Urgent Alert" .  It is the NRA, National Rifle Association,  and they were soliciting donations.   They purposely spoofed their caller ID to FORCE you to answer your phone - thinking it just might be an important call.

Our 911 system uses an "urgent alert" type caller ID to inform us of Amber Alerts, evacuations,  and other serious issues in our area.

Needless to say, I am appalled at this callous and cowardly act.    Using sleezeball telemarketers - shame shame shame on you.......    YOU ARE BETTER THAN THAT  ..... or so I mistakenly thought.

You lost my vote.

The phone number read:   703-348-6523
The called ID read:   URGENT ALERT

We've been called several times by this company and they have asked for one particular person. Since he nor anyone else in our household has any debts, and two people in the house belong to the National Rifle Association (NRA) it's the NRA. NOT some fake debt recovery agency.

I did not answer because I didn't recognize the telephone number.  And, at 80 years old I chooses to whom I speak.  Another very dangerous statement was that on caller ID it says "Urgent Alert".  I am reporting this to the Sheriff's office.

I keep getting calls from them as well.  Caller ID says "Urgent Alert".  They never leave a message.  It's getting VERY annoying.  If it is indeed a company doing fundraising for the National Rifle Association, why don't they leave a message?  I might call them back, or answer the next time they call if they did.

Other observations from " I Make These Calls" Another post pointed out that these people only make money when you answer the phone, even if you tell them no 3 times. If they work at the place, why are they getting the calls? Can't they just have their own number removed working there? If you just read it, there are some questions that come up.

I did the same thing with the NRA, so maybe if enough people do this, the NRA will pull out of this company. But I've also been around the yard enough to think that " I Make These Calls" is fact mixed with fiction. If you answer they know they have a live line and you have the aggravation of having to speak to them as well as getting the daily calls. If readers go through the posts, many have TOLD them not to call back and they have. I am Republican but Republicans are not the only gun owners, and selling the list would not be limited to that party or anyone else who is willing to pay for a live number. After all, they clearly say this company is in it for the money.

The following is the email I have sent Bryan Hoover (bhoover@nrahq.org) of the NRA Headquarters:

 Mr. Hoover,
I was hoping this matter would have been resolved by now about the NRA solicitations.  However, I received a phone call to my home phone that is listed on the National Do Not Call Registry.  The phone number was 703.348.6523 with the Caller ID showing as "Urgent Alert".  Being concerned of a local city alert I answered the phone and was deeply disappointed that a "paid professional" was calling me on behalf of the National Rifle Association concerning "Oklahoma and Joe Biden".

I will be filing a Better Business Bureau complaint against the National Rifle Association and alerting any members of the NRA that I know of to drop their membership due to the abuse of solicitation tactics.  I will also be filing complaints with the North Carolina State Attorney General and FTC's National Do Not Call Registry.

This is a copy/paste from another phone number. Yes, InfoCision pays for large banks of numbers through out the US so that their calls look like local (at least in state) numbers. See point (c) for how to make the calls stop.

The NRA calls are on behalf of the National Riffle Association who has paid the company InfoCision to make the calls on their behalf. The calls are made to the numbers in the NRA membership database (and some are targeting member cell phones).

(a) the caller will be able to tell you your end of membership date and your membership # because the NRA has provided that information to InfoCision along with your name, address and phone number.

(b) you will only get as much information from the caller as your state law requires (so you may not be told that it is infoCision making the call). The infocision 'communicators' will lie to you. I told people that I'm an NRA member and own a s**t ton of riffles, I also claimed to hunt.  Nothing could be further from the truth. (Oh, and the stinky 350 pound woman next to me was great at playing the doting high school cheerleader type act.. she might have been a telephone sex line operator before or something... but boy did she sell memberships with all her giggles and doting on the member's ego.... if only they knew that she could have crushed probably half of them with just one thigh... or knocked them over dead just by lifing one flabby arm up wind!)

(c) your number will be considered an incomplete call until you:

(c)(a) -- Admit you are the person called (if they say "hey, john doe!" then say yup, that's me) THEN listen long enough to hear that the call is from the National Rifle Association AND THEN you say "Take me off your calling list" once (and you have to say it pretty much that exact way. If you say "I wish you wouldn't call me" that will not do it because (as my supervisor said)  you have only expressed an opinion and have not made an actual request to be removed)

--OR--

(c)(b) -- you refuse to extend your membership at least 3 times AND refuse the add-on donation at least once (so the caller is going to keep talking through you until they've reached that magic number or they get fired)

(d) The phone numbers on the list are handled by a computer and routed to the next available 'communicator'. That computer will keep dialing your number until a communicator has marked it as completed (see above) and it will continue to cycle through those numbers until the end of the contract. The current contract has been going on since Jan 2014 (if not earlier) and will probably continue to go on as long as the NRA doesn't go in the hole on it (they get charged set fees even if InfoCision doesn't collect a dime from their members).  The NRA is looking for big numbers in membership to throw around as political weight.

AND THIS IS THE BIGGEST ONE OF ALL --- MORE THAN 80% of your money will go to the company that called you (InfoCision). That number could be as high as 95% of the money.  The NRA could actually go in the hole on it if InfoCision doesn't get enough people to extend their memberships.  (Google InfoCision and see for yourself). The money is NOT going to fight anyone or anything in congress, it is going directly to the pockets of the private family that owns the company InfoCision, less a few pennies paid to the 'communicators'. SO, even if you believe in what the NRA is selling, extending your membership with a telemarketer isn't doing squat to promote your favored cause. If you paid the $150 extension, then @ $15 went to your cause and $135 went to InfoCision. If you did the $500 lifetime membership, $50 went to the NRA and $450 went to the company that harassed you on your cell phone.

The NRA is a non-profit organization, so the Federal Do Not Call list does not apply to them even if you weren't a member. But they are calling existing and terminated members so the Federal Do Not Call list doesn't apply to them anyway.

Saying the person is dead will not remove your number.

If you want to cost InfoCision money/time... then request a copy of their "Corporate Do Not Call List Policy" -- this will get you transferred to a supervisor who is responsible to ensure that a copy IS mailed out to you because you can get a $500 award if you don't receive their policy as requested. Asking that supervisor to remove your number from ALL CALLING LISTS USED BY INFOCISION at that time will have the greatest chance of having your number removed. (Part of how the NRA pays their bill is by giving their calling list to InfoCision to resell to other InfoCision clients, and a NRA member would be sold of many, many times during the political season because InfoCision is the number one telemarketer for all of the Republican related organizations)

I think there are conflicting reports of who it is, as they Identifty themselves as whoever they are trying to collect for when they call...  One time might be for the NRA, next time might be March of Dimes or some other group wanting hand outs...

This is the NRA, (National Rifle Assoc) or more accuratly This is a group of ""Professional Fund Raisers" hired by the NRA to call and try and get more money from you..

I'm a lifetime member, they called and wanted to Upgrade my Lifetime membership to the next level for 300.00 which gets me a new sticker (that says whatever comes after Patron Member) for my 300.00...

I told them I was not interested after they pushed, I said look, I'm having money problems and can't afford to do it right now...  They said, OK, well while I've got you on the phone, let me tell you about an offer where you can gift a Lifetime membership for only 600.00...

I said, if I can't afford the 300, I sure can't afford a 600 gift for someone else now could I...

I then hung up...  They continue to call 3 times a week for a few weeks now...
