Received a call from a blocked number mid day. Left a message as Mike Anderson claiming to be the FTC. Difficult to understand. Left 703-539-7717 as his call back number.

Just hang up on these people!

Found out today this was a spam call reported to the VA state police and they said they will track the people down. So if you get a call from this number just hand up because if you keep talking to them the most likely is that they will track all your information. The best is not to answer them.

I got a call from these same guys, but with a similar number (703) 239-59 something. Anyway, I explained that I was on the national do not call list and the guy said that it does not pertain to them and hung up before I could why are you exempt from this call list. Another way to get rid of them is to ask what percent actually goes to the cause and what percent do they keep for themselves (you want to see proof of this). If at least 97% does not go to the call I always tell them that I do not want to pay there salary just to call and beg me for money.

I just received a call from this number on my cell phone. I could not understand the caller at all. I asked where he got my number and he continued talking. It sounded like he was collecting for diabetes. Really could not tell for sure since he could not speak english. I just hung up.

My rule:  Always Google ANY suspicious number.

I live in Richmond and the Virginia State Police Association is literally like 10 miles from my house and it is an 804 area code and I did not believe it was the same people so I even called them (the real association) because they work for a good cause and I did not believe they would solicit money over the phone and sure enough they said this 703 people who keep calling me is not them!

Best to put this number on the Block Caller list.

Just answered the phone and a very rude man responded "I need to speak to Andrew!" I said "Excuse Me?" And he said "I need to speak to Andrew!" I said, "Well I don't know who this is."  He said"The Virginia State police." I responded "He's not here right now can I take a message?"  He said "No I'll call back later."

Sounds like a call center but I don't know for what.

Called home and my cell phone, did not answer because I looked up the numbers they were calling from.

I answer call and they hang up

They interrupted my personal call and when you press flash they are gone 'like a flash'!!!!

Beware caller ID's that say "State Troopers".  The ID name is easy to manipulate.  More than likely this is used to con people out of their money.

I received a call from them this evening.  When I explained I would be happy to review anything that was mailed as I trust no one via phone looking for contributions the guys goes on about how they don't want to waste the money on mailing and chuckles.  I said well if you want any contribution from me send it in the mail - he says you don't have to get angry.  And you don't have to call my home after 9pm you moron!!!!!

Cindy, even if the Fraternal Organization of Police and the Virginia State Police Association are legitimate charitable organizations, the people calling from THIS phone number are obviously not legitimate. I hope you can distinguish the difference, and do not get scammed yourself.

Started getting the calls about 2wks after got cable/phone line installed thankfully my habit is not to  pick up for calls I do not know -let em leave a message I'll get back to them if they are important- otherwise G*T*H**L.
Life is too short to let this lot get any of my precious time I suggest we all get caller ID or let em leave a message
The company is located near the corner of Maple Ave West and Park Street SouthEast in Vienna VA which is a D*MN EXPENCIVE PLACE TO HAVE AN OFFICE LET ALONE A HOUSE!
I have heard that these calls can be made for charities who are not covered by the do not call list but what do they do with the info you give the person on the other end of the phone if you DO want to make a donation what binding assurance do you get that this is ligitamate or that your info will not be used to steal from you? Has anyone checked with the "State Police" (which particular state IS that anyway)? Have you ever known a state trooper to be rude and annoying ? So why should thier so called charitable organizations be? Report them to the FCC and FTC as violations which can cost them 16000 USD apiece for each infraction keep howling and these watchdogs will have to do something more about this scam. Stay safe out there and DO NOT GIVE ANYONE YOU DID NOT CALL ANY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFO OVER THE PHONE

This number called me. Says local call on the CID, but the area code isn't the same as mine. I recently switched to Verizon from Cox.

This number calls me constantly and it keeps coming up as a local call..the area code does not show up...is this a scam for money?

The exact same thing happened to me just now. I was at the computer and answered the phone, expecting a bill collector. After a little chit-chat, I agreed to donate $25 and was transferred to someone else. I should've hung up then, but I thought they were just going to get my address or something to send a payment notice of some sort. I try not to give credit card numbers over the phone unless I initiated the call, but somehow they caught me off guard, and I felt so stupid immediately after the call.

I checked my account, which didn't have any charges yet, and cancelled the card. Now I have to wait a few weeks for a new card.

This number called me today, said for "call quality reasons" the call was being recorded..Went into the script about supporting the VA state police and asked for a donation.

 I explained that I donate just about every day when I pay my taxes and that it would be great if I had people calling for donations to secure my concerns outside of my regular paycheck and benefits.

 This was followed by silence and a click on his end

Got a call from this number today.  Caller ID says "LOCAL CALL" Like I'm dumb enough to pick it up when 703 area code shows.  Thats not my area code!!  Get a Life!!

Very abrupt male voice asking to speak with the owner.

This number calls between 4-6 times a day to a dedicated fax line. ID says Local Call

Repeated calling, no response when phone answered.  Annoying.

I got a call from this number today. They said something about Virginia state police and teddy bears.

i've gotten several calls, always says "local number" and when i pick up they hang up.

These bozos have been calling for months now, sometimes several time a week.  I often pick up the phone and immediately hang up on them.  They just don't get the hint here that nobody at my number wants to talk to them, they just keep calling anyway.  The do not call list is a joke.
