I receive calls almost daily from these people but different number but the message they leave is about
medical alerts that have been paid for and the shipping paid for.  It will say push 1 to accept and 5 to be removed which I do then they call from another number.  I just wish these people could be caught and punished big time.

Received call from Emergency Medical Alert System with same routine as Chris reported May 3rd.  He even made paper noises as if he were reading info from a list saying that "myself, a friend, or a family member" had already paid for unit and shipping.  Without answering, I was listening through answering machine.  I did press number 5 to cancel and call ended immediately.

This kind of call must be stopped.

Same as many others, medical equipment, but this came on the heals of me just having a stress test for my heart.
Also when calling the number back I recieved a busy signal no ring and no answer.
This type of scam and phishing needs to be stopped.

I love it when people on sites like this write, "And I'm on the Do Not Call list!!!"

In case there's actually someone out there who hasn't realized it by now, the Do Not Call list is absolutely worthless.  The feds allow too many exceptions for those who can call for it to be effective and they don't do ANY enforcement when they get reports of callers that should NOT be calling.

I just got a call from this number -- on my cell -- doubly annoying because I'm traveling the Middle east right now 7 time zones ahead. Mainly just dont want them waking me up when I'm away, not to mention the roaming charges!

I too received a call from a live person to schedule delivery of my Medical Alert system that someone at our house ordered and has already paid for, and that they were coming out to my house today! I believe this goes beyond telemarketing, and is a senior scam to 1) see whether someone is home 2) start billing the recipient or 3) scout out the home for future burglary. All of these are possibilities. This needs to be investigated.

Someone from (703) 666-8523 calls constantly and hangs up. The calls seem to originate in Arlington Va. The caller(s) apparently are trying to scam people by passing themselves off as "Emergency Medical Alert System". From that point they likely attempt to obtain personal information as a n attempt to steal identities and/or access checking accounts. Please investigate the matter.

A lot of the spam calls are being directed at senior citizens who are considered to be more trusting and less savvy about electronics communications -- and too polite not to listen to a whole phone call -- and when told to press a button to get off a calling list, they will press the button.

Educate yourselves, your family, and others about these spam calls, as you have done right here at 800notes. We are in a war with these spammers (see "membership services" and "US Drugstore" under the forums here as well.

Received call on 5-04-13 at 2:29 PM claiming my Emergency Medical Alert System was ready for delivery.   Recorded message.  I have reported other calls to Do Not Call Registry but still get calls, so I do not know what good it is to complain.

Scam - very live sounding man left a lengthy message. "Calling to schedule delivery of your medical alert system. It's the same as the I've fallen and can't get up system you may have seen on tv (blah, blah) already paid for (blah, blah) getting this because someone you know has fallen (blah, blah) already paid for (blah, blah) says here that shipping has been paid for as well (blah, blah) so to schedule your shipment press one, press five to decline."

Same as above with message about a "paid for" alert system they would ship free.  Sounded like something fishy.  Maybe they ship "free" but then charge a hefty monthly fee for monitoring like many do!  Just hung up.  I didn't press the 1 or 5.

Got one of these today. Same story. A robocall carefully crafted to sound live - even with the sound of shuffling papers! At the point where I was instructed to press 1 to accept or 5 to decline, I hung up and filed an FCC complaint.

Thank you for the info.  I have filed a complaint with donotcall.gov.

The company (Medical Alert Home Emergency Monitoring) has a page on their website that claims their name is being used by scammers.   Since Google uses info that you enter to target ads, and that the ad for the company appeared at the top of this page while I was researching the number, I am very skeptical that they are victims of scammers as well.

The call got through because their computer dialed your number and because the scammers do not check numbers against the DNC list.  The DNC is not some sort of blocking service, it requires telemarketers to purchase the list from the DNC and remove numbers on it from their calling lists.  Scammers and criminals ignore the list and try creative ways to get around it such as fake surveys & contests and "free" items which have either a hefty delivery fee or service contract associated with them.

The device is "free" but of course it is useless unless you pay for a subscription to the monitoring service.  That is what they are actually selling to you and why the call violates the DNC telemarketing law.  It is similar to the "free" home security system scam in which you get conned into a very expensive monitoring contract.  Just report them to the FTC every time they call.

Received a call from this number to arrange delivery of a Medical Alert emergency monitoring system (oddly enough, it is the ad at the top of the page as I am typing this).  It was a very good and clear recording, a very "good old boy" type of voice - it really did not sound like a recording at first.  It assured us that the system had been paid for and they only wanted to schedule a delivery appointment for the system.   I did listen to the end, and it was press 1 for delivery, press 5 to hang up.  I then got the message that we would not be contacted again.

I suppose we shall see.

As we are on the "do not call" list, I would certainly like to know how this call got through,.

The message was breaking up somewhat as a cell would do in passing through some areas (which may not have been the cause of the voice/interrupt situation.) The caller sounds like a middle age woman who said, I believe, "hurt" somewhere in the message and "please help me". The phone line, 703-666-8523, when called back has been busy for about 24 hours until my cell indicated that my line was not eligible for access to that line and listed the number as in Alexandria, VA.

Got a phone call from this person yesterday. It sounded live, but perhaps it was a real person? He wanted to schedule a delivery of a Medical Alert system, that somebody had allegedly paid for already. What a joke! I've just reported this number to www.donotcall.gov and so should everybody else who gets a call so that this outfit can get a hefty fine for scamming people.

Male caller said  he was calling to schedule delivery of my Medical Alert system that someone has already paid for, including shipping, and if I did not want to receive it, push (1?).  I kept asking "Who ordered it?  Who paid for it? but of course, there was no response.  So I pushed OFF to end the call..

These people called my elderly mother to offer her a prepaid emergency system.  Unlike the other reports on this telemarketing number, she had a "live" person on the other end who had her name.  He said that someone who knew her had paid for the system, that it was totally free.

My Mom has been scammed before and when she asked who had prepaid for it, he said they could not give out that information.  She was savvy enough to ask them who would be paying for the monthly service... and they said that she would be responsible, so my mom hung up.

I received a call from this number saying the the life alert system that I ordered was ready to be delivered and that it was paid for and shipping was also paid for. Then it requested me to push 1 to accept delivery or 5 to cancel. We did not order this. I asked for a name of the person that ordered it and realized it was a recording. When I didn't respond by pressing a number the call disconnected. I called the number back and it just continued to ring.

A man told me that he was calling to arrange delivery for my Life Alert System as seen on the tv commercial "I've fallen and I can't get up."  I have never ordered one of these systems. It was a recording-because he wouldn't stop talking even when I was telling him "not interested."  The call came from Arlington, VA.  I think it was actually a telemarketer and there were strings attached to this "free" offer.  I've found that nothing is free in this life.

Receive annoying calls from this number on both of our lines. This has been going on for months even though we have pushed their do not call number "5".  It's now harassment by these people and time for the phone company to shut them down.

This caller (703-666-8523) calls on Sunday mornings (even the worst low lifes avoid this), and there is no answer or message when you pick up. This caller apparently is not subject to the "Do Not Call" regulations either. There has to be some way to nail these b*****ds.
