It's usually a way to route a DSN call back to the US from overseas for free.  Sometimes the operator gets the number right when they plug it in, other times not.  It's 0700, 27 Jan 2014 and in the middle east, I think it's about 1500-1600 hrs.  Someone is most likely calling their wife and was mis-routed.

That makes sense.  It's a call placed from overseas that goes through the military operator system and it can get routed incorrectly.  I called it back today and it is blocked from receiving calls.  It's about 1500 in the middle east.  0700 here.

got a call from this number but caller didn't leave message.  Can't reach them back, goes straight to VZN voicemail

My brother works at fort belvoir, this is a line out of the ft. Can be from anyphone on base usually u know the person calling, cannot call back must know number to individual u are calling as this is out line only

Received a missed call from this number.  I tried calling it back and the call went to my voice mail.

Same caller ID different number 202-436-7000.....disconnected number, they asked me about a Craigslist ad and than hung up.

I do not know what is going on, but it is fishy........

got a call from 703-706-5706 at 7.30 in the morning  he left me a message asking me how i was doing and said his name was matt and he was with a girl named karen. I dont know a matt or a karen when i tried to call i couldnt get through. anyone with any infro please post blog thanks hank

The number comes out of a military and goes through a phone switch.  The switch blocks incoming calls except on a central number.

Caller left no message. I have no record of this number in my contact list.

The phone number in question is the number I dial when I access my Verizon landline voicemail box.

           I got a call from this number at 4:41PM, 1-10-2011. I tried to call back but I got a saying, this number cannot be completed as dialed. I think this could be DOD?

Mine was a friend calling from Ft. Belvoir.  I think it's a switchboard number that the calls just show up from.

I received a call at 6:40AM EST and when I picked up the call after the first ring tone and answered: Hello!, I heard nothing on the line just complete silence. I thought to myself, What company or firm in their right mind, would set up an automatic dialer or have a marketing firm make calls to private individuals, at 6:40AM EST. I then went to find my reading glasses and was able to clearly read on the caller ID: UNTD ST GOVT DF 703-706-5706. I tried to call back several times but just kept getting a busy signal. Perhaps the Department of Defense/Homeland Security is testing out one of their communication systems or checking civilian telephone numbers, to find out if they are valid. I can only venture a guess at this point and I might add, I find the whole matter quite disturbing!!!

I just got a call from this number.  Guy left a message.  It's an old buddy of mine and I think he's trying to sell something/get rich quick style pyramid thing.

Got a call from this number at 10:11am on 3/27/2008.  They hung up after several rings before getting to my voice mail.  I am in Northern VA.

I looked the number up and it is from the Dept. of Defense.  Whoever made the call knew who they were calling.  Why did they call?  I have no idea.

This happened to me as well.  And the strange thing is it first called my cell and then my work number, which NO ONE has.  When I picked up, they promptly hung up.

Just as I picked up phone, after several rings, "missed call" alert sounded.  I immmediately hit redial, and got "your call can not be completed as dialed."  Weird.  I am a greater D.C. resident.  

Call received 17 Jan 08 at 7:19 a.m.

Caller left no message; I returned the call to get "We're sorry.  The call cannot be completed as dialed."

Odd to receive a call from 703-706-xxxx (Alexandria, VA) and be unable to return the call two hours later.
