Got a call, too, but my Panasonic Call Blocker showed me *extra* digits in
this phone number as 0117038093482.  So even though Caller ID showed
it as a 703 number (from Virginia), the Call Blocker knew it was from out of
the country.  Total scam!  I'm so grateful that 800notes.com exists for us to
warn each other!

The caller claims there's something wrong with my computer. I hung the first time; the second time he called I told I'm on the DO NOT CALL LIST. In both instances the caller was someone with an Indian accent.

As for why I answer the phone - I work from home and I cannot ignore phone calls.

These jerks just called me.  For the second time.  He said he was from "IT Security" or something - he was in a loud call center and his Indian accent was very strong.  I told him straight off I know he's a liar and a crook and he wants to argue with me about he's not.

Why bother?  Any other scams such as "Your vehicle warranty is about to expire" or "This is Rachel from Card Services" just hang up on you once you become the least bit belligerent.  But not these clowns.  They hang on.

These people call from this number and one from New York . First time I had contact with them I was trying to log into my yahoo mail and pay a bill. A big warning sign comes up saying the site I was trying to go to had a virus and call this number . I did. Got the same deal turn on computer do this do that, told me tech team from Verizon etc. as his voice had such a heavy accent I told him I had to put computer on charger call back later and he did! I hurried and called Verizon they checked everything and I didn't have any issues, they suggested changing all passwords and getting different email. I did this, guy called again I told him I contacted verizon and nothing was wrong , started screaming at me , why you do that, they know nothing etc I hung up! Now I keep getting calls from all different numbers. Sorry people if I don't know the number it goes to voicemail , if you leave a message and I know you I'll call back. Simple . So what can I do besides not answering do not call don't seem to work for outside the country

I received a call from someone named "Virginia", according to my caller ID, today. We screen our calls so I didn't pick up. I came here and sure enough there's a history for that phone number and it isn't good. I have a Panasonic phone that has a block caller feature. That number is now blocked.

WHY OH WHY do you people ANSWER the Phone? At least screen your calls!
And why on earth are you stupid enough to do anything a scammer tells you to do!
What's funny is, you look up the number AFTER you talk to them!

PEOPLE - SCREEN YOUR CALLS!
If you don't recognize the number, DO NOT PICK UP!

I received a call from this number and knew right away it was a scam so went along like I was totally interested in their fixing my possible bugs to my computer software.  He started with asking me to hold down the Option Key and R at the same time.  He may have caught on, because then he hung up.  I could not understand the name of the company, sounded like Eye Secure VAP.

I also just got a call from this number...guy with heavy Indian accent trying to tell me something about my computer and kept asking if I was in front of my computer.  I could only understand about half of what he said but I kept asking him what company he was with and he said he was with the IT dept of something I didn't understand.  I finally told him I did not understand him at all and hung up.  Glad I checked this out because I am having issues with microsoft and my email and for a minute I thought it might  be a legit call.

I got this call too.  My caller ID says Virginia and I thought it was someone I knew as I have a couple of friends who live in Virginia.  Deep Indian accent and he said that he worked for Microsoft and that they dedicated that I had a virus.  I played along and he had me check several different things.  After awhile I said please hold on.  Waited 30 seconds, got back on the phone and the person was still there.  I told them that I called Bill Gates on my other phone line and he said "Bull Sh*t"!  The person hung up the phone.

They just called me for the second time in two days, an Indian gentleman with a very thick accent. When they tell me my PC has a problem, I tell them I don't own a PC. It shuts them up really fast!

These @ssholes will annoy you by continuing to call you and call you over and over again from various different numbers using various different area codes.

And will never leave a message because they can't scam you unless they're on the phone with you.

Simple Rule  of Thumb  -  If you have caller ID and a number comes up that you don't recognize, DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE!!

If the call is that important and legitimate the caller will leave a message, and then you can decide whether to call them back.  If they don't leave a message the call obviously wasn't important and was probably a telemarketer or scam artist of some sort.

Just got a call from Va which is where I live so I picked up and he asked for me by name, I told him he had the wrong number, heavy Asian accent and then asked if I was on my computer. I hung up. After ready other complaints I am glad I hung up. It is scary having someone call to talk about your computer. Obviously a scam.

Got a call this morning. I knew it was scam, but I was in a good mood and decided to mess with the caller. Now I actually work on computers and remove viruses and malware, so when the fool went into his tirade about something being installed on my computer, I replied "I don't understand" Made him go through the tirade again and then he asked was I in front of my computer. I answered "When am I going to get this new computer? Blew his mind, he said " You don't have a computer? I said "not that I am aware of". "Are you sending me one?" Kept screwing with him until he finally realised I was as big a fraud as him and he hung up. LOL.

Person with Indian accent called giving her name as Ina. She gave me a long explanation about how my computer *might* be infected. I did not allow her to get to the point of asking for a password or a credit card number.

Got a call from "John" (very heavy Indian accent) who said he was calling from Isecure - had 703 northern Virginia area code on caller I d - told me everyone in my area was being called about some problems with their computers having a virus and wanted to know if I was in front of my computer.  I told him no and wasn't about to give him any info.  He tried to reassure me it was for my protection and that he wasn't trying to sell me anything (ha...just steal from me instead !).  I told him to give me his number and I would have my son who works with IT call him back. He started to give me an 888 number and then hung up.  It's scary because he called me by my first name.  He also told me he was calling from Texas.  I thought the company name Isecure was pretty creative !

Just got the same call everyone else is talking about.  It was a lady and she insisted I needed her help with my windows PC.  I told her I did my own PC stuff and I don't use Microsoft.  She insisted I did have a Windows PC and I needed their help.  I had a little time on my hands so I went back and forth with her for a few moments.  Then a man came on the line and said 'who is this and are you a computer expert".  I said yes and and don't ever call again.  I slammed the phone down so hard I almost broke it.  Unfortunately the Scum is probably reading our comments and using them to refine their techniques.
