very strange.  Feels like phishing.  We did not reply/respond.  What else can do?

They texted me too. Different area code. I texted them back and told them not to text me and I was reporting them. They actually responded by saying" invalid user address. Requested action not taken. No such user here." Not even very sophisticated. I reported  to my phone carrier. Annoying for sure

Received a message through verizon text telling me to call 5037644322 to get more info on an issue with my account.  Didn't know what UBT stood for but googled it and one option was a tracking device to track one's activity on phones or computers.  Local news that night reported the texts were being received by many in our area and it was an attempt at identify theft and not to call the number back.

My husband and I both got a text at the same time, on the same night. He doesn't get texts dealing with any of our business, so I knew it was trouble right off.

The lack of details in the actual text tipped me off. I'm not calling anyone. If there's a problem with any of my accounts, the banks calls ME about it.

This is some shady business. Even if you DO have one of these cards, don't call that number. They're wanting to steal your information.

I received the text Sunday 4/7 night.  For card # 478655xxxx for smiONE.  Same phone number listed as others on this chain - 703-880-2000.  I didn't call it last night and after reading some of your posts, I'm not going to.  Delete delete delete.  Thanks for your updates everyone!

My wife and I both got a text listing this number as contact number.  Did not call the number.  Indicated an issue with an account at smiONE which is a prepaid debit card company.  We don't have an account there.  These people need to get a life.

Don't know who this is texting me but I don't even have a credit car beginning with the #'s they listed.

Just received text from 70388020000. smiONE Card: 4786.55XXXX Issue.

Looks like The Bancorp Bank has had number stolen and there has been a security breach.  Someone is phishing to get the test of the numbers from series 4786 XXXX XXXX XXXX.

I received the same text, call 703-880-2200 and it stated it was from the company that collects my child supports payments and even included the first few digits of my card number that i receive the payments on.  Weird. Called the number on the back of my card to verify and they aren't open on Sundays.  I will have to check this out tomorrow.

TG...do NOT respond back to that text with the word STOP.

Doing so only validates your phone number and will certainly keep you on the scammers phone list. Replying to a valid text with the word STOP will work. The key word there is "valid"

The source of this texting is a crook trying to steal from people. Verizon wireless is useless in this case. The best thing to do is actually call your local police department and report it as a fraud in trying to steal your personal credit card information.

My husband and I both got texts at 0600 this morning from Kitsap CU ( we don't have accounts there) the texts say, "449263-xxxx Attention Call: 7038802000.

just got a text message saying my BancorpBank Card is limited due to fraud and to call this number. got the text on my work cell phone, dont have a BancorpBank card

I also recieved the text:  recieved from 253225@vtext   card 449263-XXXX attentioncall7038802000  this was April 7 at 6:48 AM  when I called it wanted my card number I didn't enter it but I do have a kitsap acct, but when you call they do not announce who they are and kitsap doesn't ask for card numbers on the phone-they will call and leave a message if they think your account has been tampered with.  Please call the credit union and report this so these people don't victimize others who may not know this is a scam!

Recieved a vtext (through Verizon I assume? as 620225@vtext.com), regarding "BancorpBank" stating: "Call 7038802000.Regarding Card:478655-XXXX" at 11:32AM on Sunday (today).

When I called the number, it is an automated voice message which begins with: "Welcome to our 24 hr telephone banking. Please follow the instructions" which then ensued as
requesting "please enter your 16 digit debit card number" in order to reactivate my card.

It also made reference to eventually requiring 3 pieces of information. When I called them back a few times to try and transcribe the message, on one occasion the message was not there and possibly someone picked up the phone but did not say anything, then hung up. Then on my next time calling the number was busy, followed by a return to the same automated text. I then researched the name Bancorp Bank--It is located in Wilmington, Delaware with phone number (302) 385-5000. Don't see any relationship, although via Google search I see they are doing something through Paypal for Debit Mastercard. Not sure if the other banks are also affiliated with Paypal and whether the scammer is capitalizing on this aspect.  I don't have any account with Bancorp Bank.

I called Verizon who instructed me to type in capitals "STOP" which may potentially get me off any subscriber list. The rep also gave me a FCC website to report this, which I have yet to do next: www.fcc.gov/complaints

I just got a text from   (980225@vtext.com[BancorpBank] Call:7038802000.Card:478655-XXXX Limited)   - I do not respond or call calls or text like these.  As soon as you call them or text them back, they go you and once they can get a hold your phone number and they will pull a lot of information from you.  It is a lot of Scam's out there, so.... I ask everyone to be very careful and do not give anyone your private business.

Got the same message regarding Kitsap from 253225@vtext.com - I get stuff like this every couple of weeks - I didn't call as I always check the number beforehand - based on what I'm reading here I don't think they'll be hearing from me...
