Please stop calling our home phone number! (301-871-xxxx)  I am not Chrystal or whoever you say owes you money. I'm not sure where you got our home phone number from. We've been living here for the past 3 years and have never had anyone called Chrystal in this household. We don't owe anyone any money - please quit harassing us!!!!!  You don't even leave a phone number where we can call and say we are not the people you are trying to reach. You just set up a machine that calls us repeatedly, several times a day, everyday of the week and you leave us multiple voicemail messages. As a result, our voicemail is ALWAYS full, especially since my husband and I travel a lot.  Our friends and family cannot leave us important messages as the voicemail is already filled with your auto-messages which are meant fro someone else not in our household

Prank Call
"Mathew" called from 703-921-2258  and said:  "This is a message for (first name, last name).  If you are not  (first name only) please hang up and disconnect.  If you are  (first name only) please continue to listen to this message.  There will now be a brief 3 second pause in this message. (1/4 sec. pause made)  By continuing to listen to this message you (unintelligibull) that you are (first name only).    (first name only) you should not listen to this message so that other individuals may hear this as this message does contain personal and private information. There will now be a brief 3 second pause in this message in which to allow you to listen to this message in private.  (1.5 sec pause). This is Mathew calling from Suburban Credit Corporation this communication is from a debt collector.  This is an attempt too collect a debt by a debt collector and any information obtained is only used for that purpose.   Please contact me at 703-921-2264."

1) Mathew was called back and was asked to verify the debt.  He verbally gave a "small debt" amount which he alleged was still owed for a legitimate (and larger) debt amount which had been paid in full to a legitimate service provider awhile ago.  He was asked to validate the debt by mailing proof of it in hardcopy paper.   He then argued that proof had already been sent multiple times and then later refused to send any further paperwork again (after first saying that his 'computer terminal screenshot copy' would be mailed out).  He was told that he was breaking federal law if he refuses to send anything out by mail and also that his alleged 'previous mailings' (by alleged other parties) were never received.  He then got a huffy and said that he knows the "Fair Debt Collection" law and then hung up!  This is unprofessional and illegal conduct by a legitimate debt collector.

2) The patients's Dr's billing company's hospital, verbally fingered by "Mathew" was then called.  They said that no debt was owed.  There was a small amount owed  awhile ago but insurance had paid it off and it was a higher amount than what "Mathew" had said was owed.  This makes "Mathew" and Suburban Credit look like SCAMMERS.

3)The Dr's billing company (not hospital) 800 number was then called.  The phone operator began to ask for all kinds of personal information.  The operator was interrupted and told they needed to send hardcopy paperwork to validate the bill in accordance with federal law and that all they needed was a name and address which was given to him.  (They tried to get SSN and birthdate and account number.).  The operator attempted to hinder and obstruct and had to be brought back on topic.  He was asked when he would mail out the paperwork verifying the bill.  He refused to do so unless a phone number was given (after name and address were already given).  (If he was truely working with Suburban Credit he would have given this information to them already.  So this reply was flagged as Suspicious and Shady).  Since he was acting like a scammer no phone number was gvien and he was asked to put his supervisor on the phone.  He gave another phone number to his "supervisor".  He still refused to mail out the legally required debt validation and verification copy too.

4) The "Supervisor" was called (240-) and was just as hindering and obstructing and scammy sounding.  In an earlier phone call he said the amount owed ( a higher amount which the hospital said was already paid was still owed.)  He was now asked to mail hardcopy paperwork verifying the debt.   He was also asked if they hired "Surburban Credit Corporation".  He said that they did hire Suburban Credit Corp but refused to give their street address.  (Why not?)  He then attempted to siderail the call by focusing on getting more patient information (other than just the name and address).  He was told that Surburban Credit Corporation was violating Federal Law and the purpose of the call was to get their address (for presumed follow on action).  He refused to give their address multiple times.  He then claimed that the amount owed was now zeroed out and that nothing was now owed !!!  Wow- does that sound SCAMMY or what?  He was continued to be pressed for the address of Suburban Credit Corporation and refused to give it.  He used tactics like interrupting and repeating back things said and asking for more information on the patient.  The patient's name was given four or five times to no avail.  He obviously was highly skilled (he thought) in evading answering the questions.  His motive was to stall out and misdirect the conversation with various tricks and to evade answering the question about the address of "Suburban Credit Corporation".  What was he afraid of ?  Why not answer a simple question if you are legitimate?

5) Since the "supervisor" changed his story and then said the debt was no longer owed (and was different from the smaller sum Surburban Credit claimed) it's very clear that this is strong evidence of a SCAM and SHAM operation.  What appears to be happening is that somehow insiders or hackers working inside a legitimate group of Dr's 'debt collector' operation are calling up real patients and 'bluffing' and 'tricking' them into paying the same (former) debt (or a smaller amount) all over again.  Those 'fooled-into-paying-twice' second payments are not likely landing in the original creditor's bank account.

So this operation appears to be fraud on a wide scale involving at least 3 individuals or more using what appears to be legitimate business fronts.  Somehow they are accessing real patient information and then using it in an attempt to sucker the victim into paying a legitimate old debt (or a smaller amount) again but paid to their address instead.

No legitmate debt collectors would act like this when collecting a debt from an informed 'victim'.  When you press them for more legitimately asked and simple information and they 'fold up quicker than a $2 suit case' odds are you are dealing with a bunch of brazen scammers.

Hold onto your wallets and hold your 'personal information' tight.  If No "debt verification" is sent by regular mail then "no payment will be made (again)" (on what appears to be a fraudulent 'double billing' operation for already paid bills.).

They are also operating across state lines too.   (And don't be fooled by what sounds like a professional sounding "call tree" on the 800 number too -obtained when "Mathew" verbally identified an (old-and-already-fully-paid) creditor).  If it sounds like BullSh*t then it probably is!

Hello all, I just spoke with Debbie Young of Suburban Credit Corp. She was very insistent that this was not a scam and asked for a number so she could see why they had been calling. This seems legit to me, but just a misunderstanding.

One debt collector said that if the debtor party paid the original creditor then they, "the debt collector", would stop calling (or writing as requested - and they did).  When asked about it they immediately confirmed the debt based on date, creditor, location, and amount.  So there is some othetr arrangment for paying the original creditor which stops the debt collector's actions.

They also mailed hardcopy of the original bill which could be confirmed by calling the original creditor (they usually need an account number to look it up).  In this case, the creditor billed an old insurance (info.) even though they were given the new insurance information.

The few I've dealt with as an intermediary have never been rude in any way and conducted themselves in a professional manner.   They always provided me both verbal and written confirmation of the debt.

My advice is to stop talking to them if they get belligerant and rude.  Find their contact information and send them return receipt mail asking them to confirm the full information on the original debtor and give them 10 days to respond.  If they don't then tell them you will file adverse reports against them with the authroities (& the BBB0 and on the internet as well.  If they are legit they will respond appropriately.  If not then they won't.  If not then follow through and file the adverse reports as you said you would.

Be advised that it's a tough and burn out type job and lots of times people who couldn't get any work anywhere else take these "debt collector" jobs.  They themselves may be financially strained and it may show in their (terrible) behavior.  Learn and know the Fair Debt Collection Act and recite it to them if they get out of line.

I have been receiving calls from this place; however, they will not leave a message.  After seeing the other comments I am glad that I did not answer.  I did some research and perhaps we should start calling the Owner and President of this place.  Owner is Marlene Bingamen and the President is Neil Bingamen.  I am sure that they would LOVE to receive the same telephone calls from those of us on the receiving end of this crap.

Bottom line is this.... if your original creditor, (hospital or whatever) refers you to a collection agency they have sold your debt to the collection agency for about .25 on the dollar owed. The debt collection company then tries to collect from you for the full amount you owed the hospital and that other 75% of your bill is their profit. Even if the hospital were to take your payment in full once it's been turned over to collections, (and they won't), the derogatory mark on your credit report will not be removed for 7 years at the minimum and possibly 14 years or more. It MIGHT eventually show as PAID, but it will always be there and be held against you. Dealing with a debt collection agency and paying them money (legit or not) only keeps the industry of debt collection profitable. If people would stop dealing with debt collectors, they would go away and hospitals (or original creditors) would HAVE to make a greater effort to offer you a payment plan you can afford before turning you over to collections. Usually, $20 per month will keep your account from going to collections, but not always. Regardless, once it has gone to collections, your credit report will reflect this and any money you send to a collector goes into their profit, (NONE OF IT goes to the hospital) and every dime you send to a collection agency assures they will be around for years to come, harrassing people.

YOU SHOULD NEVER SEND MONEY TO A DEBT COLLECTOR. DEAL WITH THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR, (THE PERSON YOU HAD A BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP WITH) AND TRY TO RESOLVE IT WITH THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR. IF YOU CAN'T, THEN IT'S A DONE DEAL. BY PAYING COLLECTION AGENCIES, YOU ARE ONLY PROPAGATING THIS CORRUPT, ABUSIVE INDUSTRY.

Listen folks.... I work for a physician's office and use collection agencies to take care of bad debts.  There are a couple things to consider especially in reference to the the outstanding debts you are being asked about.

a) Once you are sent to a collection agency, the company that sent you to collections does not make attempts to collect your debt any longer.  In the event, you pay your bill after you've been sent, it is the company's (who you paid) responsibility to contact the collection agency to remove your name from their call list.  If you are still being called, I guarantee you the company has not communicated your payment.  Call the MEDICAL OFFICE and get this taken care of.  This debt is affecting your credit for their incompetence.

b) A Collection agency is not going to call you just for the heck of it.  If they show you owe a debt, they are calling you for that debt.  They only garner a small percentage of the total money owed.  They have thousands of accounts to work - calling you and collecting on a debt already paid will equate to NO MONEY for them as you will need to be refunded.

c) Surburan Credit Co are not crooks - they are a business.  I've worked with them in the past.  They are simply taking over bad debt collections from the company who you owed money too.  They work thousands of thousands of accounts.  They specialize in Rapid Recovery - unforutantely if they gave every person with a debt the benefit of doubt, there would be no recovery in debt.  At the end of the day, a collection agency is a business.  They don't get paid until they collect your money.

Been getting calls from this number for more than a year. They ask for someone who is not me or the voice on the other end spells out a nonsense name --- If you are HVBCMMNBLP, please stay on the line for a personal message." Got fed up a few months ago and stayed on the line to talk to a live person. I said I was NOT the person they were seeking and asked them to stop calling. The woman on the other end was very rude but said they would remove me from their call list. Well, the calls started again a few weeks later. I ignored them and they stopped. Then today, another call. I stayed on the line and spoke with an exceptionally rude woman who dismissed my complaint about repeated calls -- said that was impossible. She did admit they "might have" an incorrect number and would remove me from their call list. Then she slammed down the phone in my ear!  Clearly a scam of some sort.
