Folks, the first thing you need to know is that the number you see in your Caller ID is totally false.  It is a waste of time to try and see where the call originated, as they can put in any number that they want.

I saw how this worked when I set up a phone system for a legitimate operation over 5 years ago.  I was able to surprise my wife by calling her and sending our own Caller ID her way.

Regrettably I, too have to put up with these calls.  These crooks are in the ID theft business, and there is little the Do Not Call List can do to stop these guys.
There are technologies in the telephone industry to get these guys, but court orders take time, as the government has checks and balances in place to protect our rights.

I've received several of these calls, but I don't remember what phone numbers they were from.  It's a recorded message telling me to call them about my credit card.  It doesn't even specify which card.  I am suppose to be on the do not call register, but somehow they have my number.

Got a call from them, hung up immediately, but tried to call the number back so I can tell them not to call, and i got a full answering machine with a mumbled name you can't understand.  Wish they would make it so you can block certain numbers from your phone.  Don't see that happening anytime soon with corporate corruption at its peak.

Received several calls from this number; I have relatives in that area code, so called back, unintelligible name and a full mailbox message.  Appears to be another scammer.  Received on my Android.

I too get these calls and I don't answer and we I do answer they hang up.  I spoke to a lawyer friend that told me that they get paid for every phone call they make and then they get additional money every time you answer or let the call go to voice mail/answering machine.  They don't care.  I have threatened to sue one company that called me 4 times a day/7 days a week and it did not matter what time it was.  It was from Global marketing.  They do the exact same thing that this phone number did.  I too have all my number listed on the DNC list but this does not stop them.  Every time I report them or block the number, they find a way to go around with a different number and do the same thing.  I work from home and can not afford for these calls to come in while I am working.  I do not have any credit cards, nor own my own home my car is paid off, I go to the store and home.  So there is no reason for my information to me sold.  I have been in my same place for over 5 years, have not changed anything other then my furniture in my house.  Everything I get I pay cash.  So I am at a loss just like you and am trying to find away to stop these idiots from harassing me and you.

"Rachel" from "Cardholder Services " called me on my cell phone!

I punched the number to "talk to a person".

We were having a delightful conversation...  about my fictitious Visa card with its fictitious $16,500 debt at a fictitious 14% interest rate.  She explained how the program worked... ya-da-ya-da-ya-da.....

I asked Rachel to call me on my "Office Phone" 503-224-4181.

She asked where I worked...
1500 SW 1st Ave., Suite 400
Portland, OR  97201

(That's the contact info for the Portland, Oregon FBI office)

She never got around to asking for my fictitious Visa Card number:  4627 0519 4328 7147
(which is, of course, nobody's number but which passes the self-checking algorithm's test).

I guess the reason that she never got around to asking was because, when she asked what work I did, I told her "I'm a Special Agent for the FBI."  She said "Oh, that's nice" and then SHE HUNG UP ON ME....  before I even had a chance to add "Only joking!"

We were having such a delightful conversation....  until she hung up on me!

I just got what was probably my 30th phone call from this "lower your credit card debt" number, and they start out by trying to make you think it's YOUR credit card company, to get your info. How the hell can I stop them from calling?

I keep getting robo calls to lower my interest rate.  The robo voice states this is credit card services.  I played the game and actually spoke to a person.  When I told them that my credit card debt was less then their threshold the women hung up.  They are calling my home and cell number a lot.  Both numbers are on the do not call list.  That has done me not good.  I've even complained to the dnc agency with no reply.

Today, after getting a call from this number for the 100th time, I became so fed up I went on a mission to find where this person is located.  What I found is actually scary and I reported it to the FBI.

When I pick up there is an automated message stating that the caller is "Card Member Services" and I can push 9 to consolidate debt, etc....  It is relentless and ambiguous, given they are never calling from a specific bank.  Repeatedly I hit 9 and say, "please remove me from your call list" and they hang up.  I have, for months, received so many calls that today I became so fed up that I started investigating the cell phone number.  I found a site that allowed me to get the supposed location of this number (35.23,80.84).  I typed this into Google maps and it showed an arrow on a building in Charlotte, NC that is the headquarters for Bank of America.

First, the callers never identify themselves as calling from Bank of America, second, I have no debt other than a home mortgage, and third, if this was really Bank of America why would they hang up on me?  This led me to spend hours finally getting a live person on the phone at Bank of America's Corporate Office who seemed genuinely concerned.  Originally, I felt perhaps someone or some employees at Bank of America were taking personal information and selling it to this fake "Card Services" or perhaps even calling from cell phones on the job trying to scam Bank of America customers but, oddly, when the person at Bank of America's corporate number said they had found a fraud line to put me through to so I could report this, another automated system with the name, "Merit Research", came on the line saying if I wanted to remove a line enter the 10-digit number.  I entered my cell phone number.

It is too early to tell if this will stop the calls but I think something is up either in Bank of America with employees calling customers of Bank of America or selling customer information to this "card services".  Or, and I don't say this lightly, Bank of America is trying to scam its customers.

Clearly thousands are receiving these spam calls based on just typing the number in a google search and seeing the complaints.

Other than report this to the FBI, I don't know what else to do.  Something is up though and the fact these calls are coming from the same city (and according to the location search for that number, building) that Bank of America's corporate office is in is too suspect for me.

I answered and it was a telemarketer name Rachel recorded to lower my interest rate on a credit card.   I pressed one to get a live person and as soon as I started to tell him to take me off the list, he hung up.    They are rude and this was the third time I did that.

Another one of those stupid "lower your interest rate" robo calls.  I said I wanted to speak to a person, I asked them their name and they hung up on me.  I went to the FCC website and filed a complaint.  Lot of good that did.  The caller ID said "Wireless Caller".

Interesting.  Like the rest, the call was from Charlotte, but I didn't even bother answering.  In the past few weeks, I've received a lot of spam calls from various phone numbers.  Check out the interesting pattern below:

210-775-6138
360-529-6156
478-787-0042
501-859-0344
602-714-1709
704-206-0013
832-514-2446

I'll bet the same company owns all these numbers.  Each first digit is unique, from 2 to 8.  Thankfully, I have a jailbroken iphone and purchase iBlacklist to auto-ignore each #.  Hopefully after this latest one, I'll receive no more phone spam.

Typical robocall from "Rachel at Card Services..." Happens over and over. These cockroaches just keep popping out of the woodwork. I filed a complaint at the "do not call" registry just to blow off steam but I doubt that but there doesn't seem to be any enforcement of the do not call law.
