Folks, it isn't the duct cleaners who are calling, it is a telemarketing company who was hired by the duct cleaners. If you want the calls to stop you have to educate the duct cleaner about how expensive telemarketing is. That will cause them to stop using it as a marketing tactic.

1) Schedule the service call, But pay nothing over the phone.
2) file a do not call complaint with NC Attorney General and make note of your case number.
3) then when they arrive, get their company name off the truck and take a photo of their license plate. Be NICE but refuse to let them in tell them you couldn't get the telemarketing company to stop calling you and ask them who it is. Give the serviceman a piece of paper with the open DNC complaint case number and contact info for the NC State Attorney General Encourage them to have their boss call.
4) After they leave update your open case with the new information about the Company.

In a couple weeks you will get info from the state attorney general. Either the cleaners or the telemarketing companies will have to pay the state fine for violating the law.

Air Duct Cleaning has called my house 15 times after being told to remove me from their call list. I have reported them to the FTC Do Not Call complaint webpage: https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx and to the Consumer Protection Division of the NC Dept of Justice: http://www.ncdoj.gov/getdoc/fdbee1c7-c2a9-4f6 ... -Complaint.aspx apparently nothing is being done to stop this scam company from harassing homeowners. It may be best to follow others recommendations and set-up appointments and let them know in person how you feel about being harassed, that's my plan. The numbers that they have called me from are 704-220-0172, 704-312-8758 and 877-5067165.

Air Quality or Indoor Air Quality on Buck Jones Rd

Make an appt and then don't be there, send them on a wild goose chase and cost them some money, report to Attorney General's Office NC with a form on the internet, just google AG NC complaint, turn into Federal Trade Commission, ensure you are on the DNC list (useless but do it) and you can perhaps make some money by fines for the harrassment, go for it!

Folks - this is how to stick it to these scam telemarketers.

Go ahead and make an appointment.  When they show up, explain to them that you don't want the services, but you will set up an appointment every time they call, so it behooves them to stop calling you.

Tie up their resources.  Make them waste a lot of money by calling you.  Once they see that, they'll stop calling you.

I've done this three times, and I will every time they call me.

BBB Warns Homeowners about Air Duct Cleaning Business, Green Air Care

March 24, 2014
Media contact: Janet C. Hart, APR, CFEE, Fellow PRSA (704) 927-8617 office

CHARLOTTE, N.C. ? The Better Business Bureau is warning homeowners about an air duct cleaning company operating in Charlotte, doing business under the name of Green Air Care.

?The BBB has received eight complaints in the past few weeks about Green Air Care and the company has an F rating,? said BBB President Tom Bartholomy. ?The company has not responded to three of the complaints and five additional complaints are pending.?

Complainants allege that Green Air Care:

1. Repeatedly called to set up appointments for air duct inspection which continued after the homeowner told them to stop as they were in violation of the ?Do Not Call? registry.

2. Gave homeowners the impression that they were with well-known air conditioning and repair services in Charlotte, in order to gain the homeowners? trust and set up the appointment.

3. Offered a $49.99 duct inspection and cleaning to gain entry into their home and then told them that they had mold and other costly problems.

4. Used high pressure techniques to sell multiple services, products and equipment costing up to six thousand dollars to clean and sanitize air ducts. Homeowners were told that these products and services were needed to control the spread of mold, germs, dust mites, chemical pollutants and other allergens in their home.

5. Listed their address as 401 South Tryon Street in Charlotte.

?Green Air Care has used nine business names and they are not located at the Charlotte address that they have given to homeowners,? said Bartholomy. ?Credit card payments made by local homeowners to Green Air Care have been credited to a business in California and paperwork lists the company name as Indoor Air Quality.?

The BBB has this advice for homeowners:

The only way to make these jokers stop calling is to:

1) schedule an appointment.
2) File a do not call complaint with the FCC and your state DOJ office.
3) confirm your appointment when they call
4) take their photo with a camera when they arrive and get their vehicle license plate too!
5) hand them a piece of paper telling them that you've filed a complaint with the state DOJ for violating the do not call laws. On the piece of paper, include the phone number for the DOJ with your open complaint number.
6) ask them who the telemarketing company is and suggest that they contact the DOJ to rat them out.
7) contact the FCC and DOJ about your open case number and provide the updated information you received when they arrived.
8) Spread the word and be thankful that you just wasted their time for wasting your time by calling.

File a complaint with the FCC either by phone or online.  The website is http://www.fcc.gov/complaints and their phone number is 1-888-225-5322. The more complaints they receive the better.  If you call the 877 number in the post above, you will reach a "scheduling manager" named Natalie.  She said she will remove my number AGAIN but like before...we'll see.  The FCC will ask for the name that appears on the caller ID which is different from the name I was given for the "company": Air Quality.  Give them all the information you can.

This number has come up several times on caller ID. I always ignored it until today. The caller asked for my daughter who doesn't reside with us. When I informed her that the person doesn't live here she asked if I was the home owner. When I replied "yes" she proceeded to tell me about a special rate to clean unlimited air ducts. When I cut in to say we are on the DNC registry, uninterested in the service and wish to have our number removed from the list, she hung up. I can't imagine why anyone would think that I expect not to be harassed in my own home!

Recieved a second call, this time from a woman. She claimed they have serviced my furnace in the past. This is an outright lie.  I told her she was lying, we have never heard of the company, they should not have called in the first place since we are on the do not call list, and do not call again.  Then I hung up.

A woman called me about duct cleaning. I asked her for the name of her company to check how it is listed in the Better Business Bureau. She called me again using phone number 704-312-8759 to tell me that she does not work on Saturdays. She offered to clean my ducts on Sunday. This supports the other post that they are Israelis (or Jewish). The BBB shows that Air Care Experts is not Accredited by them and there is also an alert that that company is no longer in business. I will avoid any contact with them.

Here's the deal.  There is no telling where the call center is for this group of scammers -- and they are indeed scammers.  Judging from the defendants in lawsuits filed by the states of IN and MO and the two guys who showed up at my home, they are all Israelis.  There is a good chance that the call center is feeding leads to a nationwide network of two-Israelis-in-nondescript-vans who actually make the visits, pretend to clean ducts and then try to trick the consumer into paying more than the advertised special.

One way of exposing this group may be to appeal to their obvious sense of greed.  Press 1 and speak to a rep and offer to pay $1000 dollars, or more, to anyone inside the call center who will reveal their whereabouts.  Who knows?  Sooner or later someone may become a disgruntled former employee and maybe they will have kept your number handy just in case they need some payback.  The caveat of course being that the reward will be paid from court awarded penalties against the company.  You don't have to explain this right away.

Unless you have the resources of the NSA, you are probably not going to ID this people.  In the meantime the one thing you can do is waste their time.  Have some fun at their expense and invite them to a bogus address.  Hell, invite them to your address and then ask for verification of license and bond to work in your city/county before they can come inside.  They will offer to call their HQ and let you speak to someone who will verify this, but are you going to believe that person?  Ask if they are a local company.  They will say yes.  So ask for their business address.  They don't have one.  If they do give you one, make them wait outside while you google it.  It will most likely be the address for the TimeWarner Arena (not kidding) and they may be gone by the time you return to the door.

You know this is a scam because a reputable company would have verifiable answers to all these questions.  These guys won't even produce personal IDs.  They are apparently a tight-knit group rehearsed in evading questions and sworn to some sort of secret oath about their identity.  The most they can offer is a business card with a fake name, (currently GREEN AIR CARE but always subject to change), a fake 800 number and a fake web address.

Don't worry about incurring any fee for their visit.  You could actually let them do the work and then stiff them and nothing will come of it.  At least that's my opinion.  They aren't going to threaten you.  Doing so would give you a reason to involve law enforcement.  And they also aren't going to sue.  That would reveal their identity and their lack of credentials to do the work in the first place.  They know they are scammers and they know in order to keep scamming they have to keep an ultra low profile.

Last thoughts: Everyone do their part to annoy these guys and find out more about them.  Post on sites like this what you find.  Take their photos and note their tag number if they come to your home.  If something goes missing in the near future, then list them as suspects and give this info to the police.  Heck, stand next to their van when they back out your drive and let them bump into you. Then call 9-1-1.  All's fair in the scam biz.

Call us, we can look at the possibility of filing class action. We will have no difficulty with our staff of skip tracers, retired LEO's and attorney's finding the individual's responsible for these excessive harassing calls. Our practice is primarily debt collection. A family member continues to receive calls from this company. Our focus is to help them and others experiencing these calls.

A website with no contact information, i.e. Phone or Email address raises suspicions.

I had the same kind of call today. I have not had their service. They offered a cheap duct cleaning and dryer cleaning price. Too cheap! He said two men would come and then he started asking me what time of day I am usually home. That made me even more guarded. I told him I work at home, which I do. I wondered if he was trying to scope out a place to rob. I told him no thank you...have a good day and hung up.
