I got the same story. There is no General hospital in my city.  Well there was about 4o years ago.  
I am so tired of scammers.   I wish Craigslist would do something about this.  I am sure there is a way for them to block known ads with bad addresses and the same for those that respond.

Often the scam is that they will send you what looks like a perfectly good certified check for X-number of weeks/months rent plus some amount over that.  They will say that they immediately need the "overage" back by a certified check from you and they will give some seemingly valid reason.  You will find that they certified check they sent you is a fake and you'll not be able to stop payment on the certified check they sent you.  This scam was tried, and rebuffed, by my daughter when she rented her apartment on Craigslist.    Don't fall for it.

A person responded to my Craigslist ad I posted in search of a roommate. They are very vague and claim they live in Thailand and will be coming out to work at the "local general hospital". Ok, now I may be slow but I'm not stupid.....Some type of scam without a doubt.
