OK here are all the details on the originator of the 704-671-3096 number.  This is a fictional # so they can avoid identification.  The company name is really Southeastern Credit Bureau, Inc also doing business as Park Dansan.  Company is a collections company with 52 employees and annual revenues of $2.4M.  Their address and direct company phone #s as well as executives are below in the event you need to file a compliant.

I also received a call from 704-671-3096 and it asked me to call back to 800-605-5739 with a reference #.  Here is what I've learned.  This is a collections call from someone who has the wrong # - they mention some person I have never even heard of.  I've had my current phone # for 16 months so assume this person is putting my phone # down on her credit applications (this is not the only collections agency calling me trying to reach this person).  I've auto credit alerts and have already checked to ensure she is not using my name or SSN to open a line of credit in my name.  My message to everyone else on this board who has gotten this phone call is to (1) check your credit reports for suspicious activity - this is usually the first sign your identity has been stolen, (2) call back the collections agency at the 1-800 number provided on the recording, ask who they are and their contact info, then ask (this is really important) who they are collecting the debt on behalf of - by law they have to provide you with this information even before verifying who you are.  It's important you tell them you're not going to provide any information until they give you this and they're not breaking any laws regarding privacy as you are not asking anything about the specifics of the debt (who, amount, etc.) only who sent them the collection in the first place.  Most likely the originator of the debt is with a bank or some other financial institution that somehow accidentally got your # on the record.   (3) Your next step is to call the originator of the debt (i.e the bank, etc.) and ask to speak to a supervisor - explain you've been getting harrassing collections calls because they mistakenly put your phone # on someone else's account.  Make sure to get the supervisor's name and phone #.  Ask them to look up the account by phone # and if it isn't your name, to take your phone # off of the account.  Per the FDCRA (Fair Debt Collections Reporting Act) they have to comply with your request as you are not the debtor, if they refuse, write a nasty note to their CEO mentioning the supervisors name who didn't comply with the request and threaten to take them to court for violation of the FDCRA.  If you don't do all of this the bank originating the collection will simply farm it out to another agency and you'll get these harrassing calls all over again and it could go on for months if not years.  I know, I've been there.   I will post the actual name of this collections company with address, executives, and phone #s as soon as my research comes back.

Talked to "Ray" when I called -- based on Taglt's info, I was ready. "Ray" lied about why he was calling and who he represented. I told him I knew who he was working for, gave him the company name and address, etc. It made him mad. (Good!)

I told him I was entitled to know who was behind the calls so I could contact them directly and try to get it straightened out -- we've been dealing with creditors looking for the deadbeat looser who is using our phone number for years. Most of the companies apologized and never called again, but now, suddenly, it starts up again.

He said "We don't give that information out. If you want to know, you'll have to write a letter . . . you already have the address." I said I would, and he really needs to quit lying to people if he hopes to have a shred of dignity left when he gets older. He hung up on me.

I'm pretty sure there isn't anything in the FDCPA about this situation. Taglt, what section is that in? I've had calls from collection companies for my relatives and they are required to tell you the name of the company but the FDCPA expressly says they can not reveal any info about the actual debt or who it's owed too. I get the name of the company and tell them not to call again and they normally don't.

I get this vaguely threatening message about how this message isn't from telemarketers, and they wish to speak to me about something VERY important. They tell me to call "Park Danson", and give me the callback number 800-378-2420, ref. 81143654.

Just had the same experience. Same message, 800-605-5739 number and a reference number. I called and got right thru. Sharon answered "Park Danson" and asked for the ref# and then asked for someone I didn't know. I told her I didn't know anyone by that name and she said that they would remove our number from the records. The whole call didn't last more than a minute or so. I've only had the number for a few months so I guessed it was for someone else.

I missed a call from this number on my cell phone today at 4:21pm.  They didn't leave a voicemail and when I attempted to call back this number I got a recording saying the numbe was no longer in service.

Hopefully they had the wrong number.

Pay your bills and they will not call you.  They call who the credit companies tell them to call.  They get names from people that do not pay their bills.  Credit calls are not subject to "do not call" lists.  If they were, nobody would have calls from these companies.

Pay your bills.  That way, mine won't be so high.

We keep getting calls from this number also.  Thanks to the investigative work from some others on this board, I was able to identify the "Private Caller."  I went to their website and sent them an email demanding them to stop calling me; I have no idea why they would be calling.  According to the Fair Debt Collection Reporting Act, if you request that the agency stop calling you, and they continue; they are in violation of the law, opening them up to legal action.

Park Danson
133 West 3rd Avenue, Gastonia NC 28052. Employs 52 People. Google Earth shows it at 35:15:32.46N by 81:10:56.14W. Mark it. Those 22 parking spaces wouldn't feasibly provide enough parking for that many afk leeches. And you can tell whoever owns that green 2-door needs to learn how to park. Doesn't look like a $2.4 million a year business from satellite. The current vp of operations of the collection services (not medical/drug-trials side of their company(?!?)) is John Luther, reachable at jluther@parkdansan.com. If you call the number, you get voicemail/leave a message incl. the bogus reference number. I suggest speaking in whalesong, or to an accompaniment of out of tune air-raid sirens. Good luck getting them off your back. Decibels are your friend. Apologies if what I say seems any more offensive than their unwarranted audible assaults on our privacy.

What bugs me about this number and all like it. If I answer the phone, talk to me and not have a machine answer telling me to call back. Also I agree with the others that this has to be illegal in some way to call from a number that when called back is out of service.
Whenever you do call back they persist in asking if you know the person or have any dealings with them.
My answer is always an emphatic NO!
I am not obligated to tell them about anyone I may know and will not give out any information to them. One guy told me "Then you will just keep getting the calls until you give up the information you have."
Thanks to all who posted the name and address so the FTC and BBB can get a note of abuse of a collection agency who harrases people into giving out information as if they are a government agency.

Keep getting calls from 704-671-3096 Blocked call saying to call 800-605-5739.  When I did it was a voice mail to leave name and number and account number (which I don't do business with them) so I left the reference number they left on voicemail.  There is a way for these people to check if you are the one they are trying to reach and that is to order a "DO NOT CALL LIST" that all companies are suppose to do.  This would have your name and number and show the person they are trying to reach does not own the number.  Plus the telephone company most likely has a report.  Do they really think people that have bad credit or lie on their application will put their real number????  If so I have some things to sell them.  I hope leaving the voice mail works.  Here is some info I found just goggling the number

I think it's a collection agency. A real person called me once and they were looking for someone else. They just keep calling my number anyway. This must be illegal.

I have received a call from this number several times a week for the last six months.   What is so annoying is that I am home, I answer the phone, I am told not to hangup, I don't and NO ONE TALKS TO ME.   Instead they expect me to memorize a number and call back.   Ridiculous when I am there live waiting to talk.   I have tried redialing this number and it just rings and rings.   I want these calls to stop NOW.   It is one of the most annoying practices I have ever encountered to call me when I am here and then expect me to call back.   What a waste of my time and patience.

I don't know why you say it doesn't exist. It's a big brick building on the corner of south and third. I know because I went and paid one of my sisterinlaw's bills for her. They were pretty nice. The sign is almost covered up in front all you can see is "PARK" because of the bushes. It took me a while to find it but it does exist.

I drove by this address in Gastonia.  It's located in a lower income section of Gastonia.  The address itself doesn't appear on any building and the surrounding buildings do not show a Park Danson sign.  Apparently this collection agency is using fictitious numbers and addresses

Unfortunately it is a collections call so not protected under the Do Not Call statute.   Best thing you can do is call them back and get them to understand they have the wrong # and need to delete it out of their records - after all - how smart can it be for them to waste money calling the wrong person to collect on a debt.  These guys get paid commissions on % collected so the last thing they want to do is waste time calling the wrong person.  If they get an attitude with you (which I don't think they will if you explain things) - just view my other postings which have their direct #, address, and executives names and tell them you're filing a complaint with the BBB
