Raymond just called; I did not interrupt him, but when asked a question, I asked go be put on their DNC list. Instead a polite representative from the 'Firefighters Association,' he challenged my comment and asked what the firefighters have done wrong. I repeated my DNC list request, and he challenged me again. I told him I was hanging up, and did,  What arrogance...

I would not call Raymond a non-profit.

I just called the 704-331-9075 and the FireCo rep that answered was very polite. He asked for my number and said he would remove me from the list.

Yeah, but is it your job to call somebody and hang up on them?  That's lame, you know.

Also, if you're just for the Charlotte area, you called out of county...last time I knew, 704 and 980 area codes were Charlotte...828 is not.

Called 18:33Z 07 Dec2012 on my wife's line. Answered and all I heard was background noise then they disconnected.

I used to answer the phone many years ago when the Charlotte Firefighter's Assoc. telemarketers would call and I would ask for a financial statement to review online and of course they knew nothing about that.  I think some of their telemarketers referred me to the N.C. Sec. of State site where supposedly non-profit charitable org. financial statements are filed.  The would attempt to get me to commit to a pledge and I refused to do so.
Most of their telemarketers were rude and pushy, some attempting to make me feel guilty for not wanting to contribute their org.  I kept telling them over the years that I never committed over the phone and never gave out my credit card information and would not contribute to their org. without reviewing their financial statements first to see how they were spending their money.

Well, after several phone calls from them and being treated rudely by their callers, I began asking them to remove my name from their calling list and probably did this 5 to 6 times.   They never have removed my name  from their calling list and continue to call.  

So, I don't answer any phone calls unless I know or think I know who is calling.  If I don't recognize the number or the caller is unidentified, then I usually don't answer, but wait to see if they leave a message.

If they leave a message, I listen to it and decide if I will return the call.

Some of these telemarketers have automatic dialer systems set up to continue calling the same number if someone answers the call.  Or, their computer dialer systems just dial out numbers sequentially over and over and over and over.  Unbelievable.

If this is the "firefighters association", they have conned my 80-year old mother into sending them a check (more than once.).  "What if you didn't donate and they didn't respond to an emergency?????"

This is the Charlotte Fire Fighters Association and it is not a scam.  We do use FireCo to help us sell tickets for our fundraising concerts.  Rather than just solicite donation we put on two concerts a year so that people can see a show while also help raise money for our charites including (but not limited too):

Somke Detectors - donated to Mecklenburgh County for low encome homes
Carbon Monoxide Detectors - donated to Meck County for Low encome homes

We also help families of Active and Retired Fire Fighters who may be experiencing financial hardship due to injury or illness

These are just some of the things we do.  If you would like your number removed from the call list please call 704-331-9075 and we will remove your number no questions asked.

these call are just scams, blocking or reporting the number doesnt help because they just change the number and keep calling.
Dont answer these calls, and dont call them back. when you answer, or call back, or talk to someone, or press 9 to be added to their do not call list - that just lets them know that your number is a working number. then they flag it is as a working number. therefore you will get repeated calls from them and all their scam buddies. because it is an illegal operation and they change numbers and stories often (free alarm system scam, credit card interest rate lowering scam, we will pray with you scam, donation scam, free cruise scam, problem with you accont scam, ect) they DO NOT CARE about the do not call list. they call as many people as the can, changing the story on occasion just to scam an unsuspecting person out of money. the more people they call, the more chances they have of stealing from us.
every number called by the robo callers that dead end gets tossed out, and the ones flagged as working(casue you called back or answered) get stored, passed around illegally, and worst of all - called repeatedly.
BEST ADVICE - NEVER MAKE ANY MONETARY TRANSACTION  OVER THE PHONE, EVER. ESPECIALLY IF THEY CALLED YOU. and dont ever give out personal or financial info over the phone, especially if they called you. SIMPLY, IF THEY CALLED YOU - YOU REALLY DONT KNOW WHO YOU ARE TALKING TO.

if everyone STOPS making monetay transaction over the phone - this will stop. if they never make any money this way, it will stop because it will never pay off.
Even if a charity calls, and you are interested, DONT GIVE MONEY OVER THE PHONE. have them mail you donation paperwork and verify its valid. if they refuse to do this it is most likely a SCAM.

NO MONEY OVER THE PHONE - MEANS NO MORE CALLS (YEAH) from these scam, telemarketer, timeshare, ect scumbags.

It's the firefighters association!

received a call today.  some firefighter's association.  i state that i do not make donations over the phone - then the operator proceeds to agree that they do not take donations over the phone, that they merely want to screen for their mailings (BS - I worked in direct mail - telemarketing is wayyyy more expensive).  I bite - and the operator proceeds to ask me for my name, etc.  I refuse to give any personal info - as if they are placing outbound calls, they should know who they are calling.

They call repeatedly. It is a group of people in a room more than likely. If one has no luck, they pass on your # to another operator. Got into an argument last year with one but it does no good either way, mean or nice. They continue to call...on and on and on and on.............

Very arrogant and pushie, this is evidently a fund raising organization supposingly for the fire fighters . They have a total disregard for the do not call register and I would venture to say that they are laughing all the way to the bank.
