This number keeps calling me daily. They call at least 2-3 times per day during the week. This is our business number so it's not too annoying but it's bad enough. I also get calls from 800-955-6600 (Capital One?) on a daily basis and I'm starting to wonder if these two are connected. They happen around the same time usually within minutes of one another.

Same as all the above. I'm a bussiness, they called, asked for a fictious person. Never identified themselves. Got very nasty when I told them the person didn't exist. Didn't know they were NC COP untill I googled.

Called and left no message. Just put them on my block list! Cost me $4.00 extra a month but they get a recording saying that I will not accept calls from their number. Let's see if it works.

I called the number back too and it is definitely the NC Coalition of Police.  They called me asking for my husband and I started to say that he was not home and before I even finished my sentence, the guy hung up on me!  How rude!  You expect to get donations with an attitude like that?

It's happened to me for months.  Sometimes I'd pick up, but there was always silence.  Today they called and apparently they didn't know I picked up... there was a bunch of people talking about "muffins in the breakroom".  I was like, "hello?  hello?"  Silence.  They hung up.  I called back.  Got a recording saying it's the North Carolina Coalition of Police's fundraiser.  They have a 800 number on the recording (1.800.379.8947).  It's automated, and the last option let's you get on their "do not call" list.  I just did it... we'll see if it works.

Haha, now the muffins make sense... I can picture them all sitting around eating... and NOT fighting crime apparently. ;)

Am I the only one who noticed this last post? Let me get this straight: the head of NCCops is David Spagnola, a retired police officer. NCCops contracts with On Guard Services to conduct its "charitable" fund raising. On Guard Services is also owned by David Spagnola. That sounds like a scam to me.

Approximately 5-10% of donations go to NCCops. The rest is used to cover operating expenses and profit for On Guard Services. Seems like Mr. Spagnola is making money on both ends. He gets a paycheck for his services to NCCops and he gets paid for the fund raising. Wow! Nice setup...

More information. I went to the NCCOPs website and the sponsor for the site is On Guard Services. The guy who owns this bussiness is listed as David Spagnola (also the President of NCCOPS)
Mr. Spagnola is a retired officer from the Greenboro NC police Department.
The NC Attorney General's office said they give a very low amount of donations made to charities. I guess Mr. Spagnola is the blame for our phone calls.
This is his contact information:

Here is the service they provide:
We develop and facilitate non-profit fund raising programs for Police and Sheriff departments, FOP Lodges, Police Professional Groups, and Police Unions nationwide.

?Our programs allow your group to do something worthwhile for the community while building the financial assets to maintain your group?s benefits and functions; all with no expense to your group, and no work for you or your members?

Just the Facts:

1. We'll meet with you to decide which program will meet your goals of raising money and carrying out a civic community program.

?We?ll promote your group?s current civic program, or design one using one of our COPS WHO CARE programs like our ?Kids' Christmas With A Cop?, ?Kids and Cops Back to School?, ?Cops Holiday Food Baskets?, or our ?Children?s Street Survival Handbooks?

2. We?ll provide a contract that will spell out the program, and determine your residual, and the program?s length.

3. Our office staff will assist with your state?s licensing requirements, and can assist your group obtaining its non-profit status.

4. An experienced program manager and staff will be assigned to do the solicitation.

5. Contributions can be solicited from our call center, or we can secure a local site in your community for the solicitations.

6. OGS handles the promotional materials, phone services, and gets the program moving.

7. All checks are written to your group, deposited in your group's account. We never have access to your account.

8. We'll settle accounts weekly so you will always know your funding levels.

9. As we complete the program, your group decides how much of your collections will be spent on your specific civic and member benefit programs. (Groups generally spend an average of $2000 for safety books and $100 per child for necessities at Christmas.)

Our Philosophy??????????????????.

We react immediately to inquiry calls and rarely generate complaints.
We utilize program managers that have a clean track record.
We maintain a strict protocol for State licensing, bonds, & financial reports
We constantly review licensing to assure we're meeting state requirements.
?Our reference list shows clients renew their contracts annually because of our successful performance and their satisfaction.?

That's exactly what happened to me, several times!  We must be getting the same guy, there's no way there are multiple rude Mctudes.  He called my work, and my mom is the owner, but she's got several businesses, so she's never in this particular store.  I tried explaining that to him, bc he'd never catch her without leaving a message, and he hung up right in the middle of a sentence!  I can't believe that they would be so rude to the smaller people of companies who support them with money.  if it weren't for the damn stickers we get to put on our cars, i would tell them to f*** off!

If you hold on the line for a few minutes, they eventually pick up the call... I called the Charlotte PD and no one there knew who they were. They advised calling their Internal Affairs Dept to check for validity. I'd be cautious about giving them any account information what-so-ever... It's too bad that we can't even trust the legitimate charities to handle our financial information properly anymore. I prefer to hand a "Bank Check" to anyone that I plan to donate money to. --It's the only reasonably safe thing anymore.

They called today and acted as if they were my best friend I hadn't spoken to in awhile. I run a business at home as well and that was the numbered they called. They fed me the spiel and put me on the phone with a supervisor. He immediately went into asking me how much money I would want to donate to a cause I didn't have any information about. I said, "Can you mail me more information about this before I consider?" He proceeded to say thank you and have a nice day, click...where does this money really go and how ironic it seems they are promoting police officers when they seem like the crooks themselves.

Call the Internal affairs Division of the Charlotte Police Dept. Since they are saying that they are police fundraisers that lies in the jurisdiction of Internal Affairs to investigate for validity.

Event Reminder
I too, just received a call from this number and when I agreed to donate, I was transferred to a so-called supervisor who was apparently sitting next to the caller and also RUDE. When he presented the donation amounts to me, my mouth dropped open b/c they were $500-$1000. When I said, "oh, no!" he lowered it stating that they have "individual amounts of $35-$100". I told him that I could do $15 and he kept me on the phone with some song and dance about them having to only accept $35 or more, b/c the postage and processing has gone up, which costs them a lot of money to operate...What does this have to do with a donation, I don't know. He finally agreed on the $15 and after I refused to pay with a credit card, he hung up. I have given for years to the NCFOP and other related orgs and they have never presented themselves like this. I feel like this is some sort of a scam or imbezz situation.

Call requesting previous owners name. When asked "who's calling?" they say their first name and that it is a "community matter".  I said that he was the former owner and no longer worked here.  The guy then wants to know all about the current owner (me) but would not tell me who he was working for.  He was very pushy and rude. When I kept asking what company he was calling for, he finally just hung up.  Did reverse look-up and found NCCOP.  They've called for years and apparently have a new tactic.  Can't understand why they are not shut down by now.
