This is a legitimate company.  I called them back and talked to a guy who led me through a verification process (phone number address etc...)  They did not ask for any crazy stuff like credit card number, account numbers or personal ID stuff.

They didn’t tell me where the job was located, but said it was in my area.  The guy told me after I finished the verification that I would soon receive a phone call for an interview.  It took the company almost a week to get back to me.  Sounds good to me…

I finally got through to them after a few attempts at returning their phone call.  I spoke with someone who wanted to verify the info on my resume.  They didn't ask for personal info and I didn't give them any. I confirmed the info that they were asking was correct  They said I would hear from the hiring manager within a couple of days.  I heard from the hiring manager within a couple of weeks, had a 2nd interview, and am attending a 3rd next week!

My story is the same.  They never leave a message.  I thought the website looked odd when I was applying.  I mean asking about my cell phone carrier?  And if these companies really wanted to speak with us about a job then don't you rhtink they would leave a message?

Yes, scams suck especially when there are so many Americans out of work these days.

And this is not only a Craig's List scam.  I have seen it on other job boards as well.

I got a call from this number today after sitting on hold for a couple of minutes a lady answered and said I had filled out a online application and she wanted to verify my information and forward it to the company I applied for.  She never asked for any information, but I felt this was a scam.

NEVER in my life have I found anyone at the FCC or FBI with the slightest interest in pursuing or otherwise lifting a finger to stop a telephone scam directed at elderly people or other easy victims.  They don't care.  If you know someone who does, please let us know!

received the call about "submitting an application within the las......" called back immediately and got thru in about 3 mins. a guy answers and states that he works for Employment Select and a company i was interested in was hiring and would like to verify my info that i submitted. name # address. then he asked if i might be interested in going back to school in the future.. i said perhaps at a later date. he then put on the hard sell of "having SOMEONE talk to me briefly and get a feel if on-line schooling might be good for me." i stated that i would prefer to have some "school" info emailed to me and if i could also receive from him written verification that my resume had been passed along to the company as well as his company's website address. DENIED ON ALL REQUESTS!!!! i can't say this enough... SCAM!! SCAM!! SCAM!! SCAM!!

I just recieved a call from this number about an hour ago and when i tried to call back it was always busy, so i finally found out what it was after and hour of research when you fill out an online job application and it takes you to another page about some sort of way to expand your education. its these people that are trying to call you. its some sort of scam to get your identity stolen. DO NOT FALL FOR IT!

They are scammers- they just send you online school info that you could get anywhere in exchange for detailed info about you- they're an info mill. If they don't remove you file a complain with the do not call registry

Received a call today from this number but when attempting to call back I can't even get through.  I did apply for a job online a few days back and remember the whole "further your education thing"  but remember closing the page after it became too much of a pain in the a** for a simple job application.

I'm afraid myself now of the whole identify theft thing. :(

Yep, I just got a call from 704-817-0632. It was an automated message on behalf of a "client who wants to remain confidential" and claims that the call is in response to a job application submitted this past week. Although I have submitted a number of resumes this week, I googled this phone number, and sure enough, it looks like a scam! I reported the incident to abuse@pacwest.com.

Received what seemed to be an automated call from someone.  After waiting on a dead line for a few seconds a recording started telling me to call back at 704 817-0632.  After waiting a few seconds to catch the again I was put on hold to talk to a rep.  She came on and said she worked for an employer verification company that works with employers to "verify" my information.  I asked her who the employer was and she said she didn't have that information.  I said I was NOT going to give her any personal information.  She said she just wanted to verify my information and make sure there were no changes.  It would take between 15 and 45 minutes - yikes!  I told her that nothing has changed so just send my information on.  She said she would and that was the end of the call.  As I was talking to her I was reading some of the comments on this web page which confirmed my fear that this is a SCAM!!

About a week ago I sent my resume to a posting on craigslist for a job promising me $18/hr but never giving where the job is. OOPS. I went online and had to fill out gratuitous info like my cell provider and then I knew it must be a scam. It was freecareerplacement.com aka Career Network.

I'm sure this phone call is directly related to it. If you've done this lately just google "Career Network Scam" and you'll find all the information you need. I'm really worried about identity theft now and am cursing myself for being so naive. Please don't fall for this!
