ITS PEOPLE WHO POST COMPLAINTS HERE - BUT NEVER BOTHER TO FILE COMPLAINTS WITH THE FTC, THEIR STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL AND THE STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL WHERE THE COMPANY IS LOCATED.

They DO NOT DO THE RESEARCH TO PROTECT THEMSELVES  - then like you claim someone was bought offf

Today I  received a call from this number and yesterday received a call from the same company but a different number.  They keep asking for a female with the first name of Jessica and my last name.  IA tell them there is no one here by that name and then they want to know if I know that person.  Today I wasa little unpleasant to the caller and decided to research the number, it came back as a North Carolina listing on caller ID but as unlisted when checked by phone number.  I found out who the company was by Google and called and left a message  (went to voice mail) that if the calls to my number continued I would be turning them in to the BBB and Iowa's attorney general.  I am sure they have caller ID and can see to it that my number is taken from there calling list.

A few weeks ago I was getting random calls from 845-790-306 and as of this morning at 7am I'm getting calls from 704-970-1936, I've found both #'s are linked to the same place but I just don't know who they are.
They don't leave a message. I'm getting sick of them calling me.

They keep calling and calling my home, not leaving any message, just keep calling and calling.  Hanging up then calling back again.  Sometimes just letting the phone ring when I pick up they don't say anything then hang up.  The calls start as early as 7:30 am and they continue out all through the day.  I'm sick and tired of this number.  I have no idea who they are or what they want.  I can't continue to received this harrassment from this number.  I received another call as late as 9:00 pm and then again early morning 7:30 all day long.

Lets face the fact that these collection companies pay off the right people who in turn look the other way thus allowing this harrassment.
These bottom feeders are southern yokels and are not very educated, and come from families who did not teach them values. The most important thing in their lives is the next beer and smoke.

I recently received 3 calls from this tel. # one call came in on Saturday morning when I was asleep. Another came this morning (on Martin Luther King Day) and again in the evening. No message was left although the call did register in my caller ID. I should point out they called my cell phone. Also, if indeed they are a collection agency (as some have suggested here) I have no idea how and why they got my phone # as I do not owe money to anyone nor am I behind any payment or bill. Maybe they are "trying their luck" but still don't you need to owe money to someone before a collection agency contacts you? This makes no sense whatsoever. Like someone else said here - if this was important they would have left a message, which they didn't. They seem to hide, I guess. Also - I tried calling them back only because I was curious to know what the hell is going on... and there was a weird busy signal perhaps because I may have called from a private # which they may not be accepting. Next time they will contact me (if at all) I will answer the call and see what's going on... I added their # to my cell phone under the business people here said they are... so that I will know its them. I also added my #s to the National Do Not Call Registry tonight as a result of this. Lets hope I will never get unwanted calls again. Most of the time I'm OK when it comes to annoying or unwanted calls... but with the cell phone its even more annoying because you pay money if you answer the call... Someone need to go after them and make sure they are prosecuted for their behavior. We must unite against such harrasements and report them.

Called on my cell today from 704-970-1936, and a week or two ago from 845-790-3016.  This is a brand-new cell number; they must be after the former owner.  Their automated system asked me to press 1 if I am so-and-so (hard to understand the name), and 2 if I am not.  I tried pressing 2, but it just repeated the question.  Eventually I hung up.  Annoying.

You?re Dead? That Won?t Stop the Debt Collector

Published: March 3, 2009
MINNEAPOLIS ? The banks need another bailout and countless homeowners cannot handle their mortgage payments, but one group is paying its bills: the dead.

Dozens of specially trained agents work on the third floor of DCM Services here, calling up the dear departed?s next of kin and kindly asking if they want to settle the balance on a credit card or bank loan, or perhaps make that final utility bill or cellphone payment.

The people on the other end of the line often have no legal obligation to assume the debt of a spouse, sibling or parent. But they take responsibility for it anyway.

?I am out of work now, to be honest with you, and money is very tight for us,? one man declared on a recent phone call after he was apprised of his late mother-in-law?s $280 credit card bill. He promised to pay $15 a month.

Dead people are the newest frontier in debt collecting, and one of the healthiest parts of the industry. Those who dun the living say that people are so scared and so broke it is difficult to get them to cough up even token payments.

Collecting from the dead, however, is expanding. Improved database technology is making it easier to discover when estates are opened in the country?s 3,000 probate courts, giving collectors an opportunity to file timely claims. But if there is no formal estate and thus nothing to file against, the human touch comes into play.

New hires at DCM train for three weeks in what the company calls ?empathic active listening,? which mixes the comforting air of a funeral director with the nonjudgmental tones of a friend. The new employees learn to use such anger-deflecting phrases as ?If I hear you correctly, you?d like...?

?You get to be the person who cares,? the training manager, Autumn Boomgaarden, told a class of four new hires.

For some relatives, paying is pragmatic. The law varies from state to state, but generally survivors are not required to pay a dead relative?s bills from their own assets. In theory, however, collection agencies could go after any property inherited from the deceased.

But sentiment also plays a large role, the agencies say. Some relatives are loyal to the credit card or bank in question. Some feel a strong sense of morality, that all debts should be paid. Most of all, people feel they are honoring the wishes of their loved ones.

?In times of illness and death, the hierarchy of debts is adjusted,? said Michael Ginsberg of Kaulkin Ginsberg, a consulting company to the debt collection industry. ?We do our best to make sure our doctor is paid, because we might need him again. And we want the dead to rest easy, knowing their obligations are taken care of.?

Finally, of course, some of those who pay a dead relative?s debts are unaware they may have no legal obligation.

Scott Weltman of Weltman, Weinberg & Reis, a Cleveland law firm that performs deceased collections, says that if family members ask, ?we definitely tell them? they have no legal obligation to pay. ?But is it disclosed upfront ? ?Mr. Smith, you definitely don?t owe the money?? It?s not that blunt.?

DCM Services, which began in 1999 as a law firm, recently acquired clients in banking, automobile finance, retailing, telecommunications and health care; DCM says its contracts preclude it from naming them.

The companies ?want to protect their brand,? said DCM?s chief executive, Steven Farsht. Despite the delicacy of such collections, he says his 180-employee firm is providing a service to the economy. ?The financial services industry is under a tremendous amount of pressure, and every dollar we collect improves their profitability,? he said.

To listen to even a small sample of DCM?s calls ? executives played tapes of 10 of them for a reporter, electronically edited to remove all names ? is to reveal the wages of misery, right down to the penny.

Oddly, they called my number but asked for my mother, who had just passed away (they didn't know this until they called). They said that if I faxed them proof of power of attorney they could talk to me. Power of Attorney is null after the death and the estate takes over (in this case me, too, but they should know that).

I asked them repeatedly what they do, they kept repeating that it's a "private matter" and could not discuss it with me. I asked for a supervisor, was briefly placed on hold and a woman picked up. In no way at all would she say what they did. I asked, "Hypothetically, if I were someone else you were calling, what sort of things might you call me about? Insurance? Heathcare?" That was met with the same response that they cannot tell me and it's a private matter. They kept repeating they work for CBE Group. "What the f*** is that? Tell me something about what you do other than just calling me and refusing to reveal anything. You don't work for the government, that's clear." Again, the same we can't tell you and it's a private matter.

I explained that I know absolutely everything about my mom's finances and history, and have never heard of them. I started getting more pissed and she said they couldn't help me and were going to go. I have to say as angry as I was they handled themselves well and were not angry or rude back.

They have called at least 5 times within the past week and never left a message. No idea who they are or what they want, but as far as I know I don't owe any debt to anybody. Caller ID shows their number and "Charlotte NC." I figure if it was important they would have left a message by now, so I went ahead and added them to my blocked caller list.
