We have received a few hang-ups at our office over the past week.  When I call the number, it is a recording for the fund raiser for the National Cancer Coalition.  No opportunity to leave a message or speak with a human.

I just got one too.  They hung up after I answered.

this is a number of a scammer claiming to be discover and im sure any other cc's they may have stolen. Dont answer, take steps to block if neded, your phone carrier can and will do it.

Calls from 704-970-1948 are indeed calls from Discover Card marketing. If you call them at that number you can get taken off their call list. It might take a day or two for the calls to stop. Call 704-970-1948 ... you will hear a message to press 1 if you want to speak to a service rep about a product. Press 1. The rep will answer after a few seconds. Simply state that you have been getting calls and that you would like to stop getting calls and OPT OUT OF DIRECT MARKETING. The Rep will ask you for your name exactly as it is spelled on your card. The rep will ask you for the phone number that is being called (it doesn't have to be the one you are calling from). I suggest having the rep repeat back to you the info that you gave them. That's it. You are now "unsubscribed" from their call list.

received many calls from 704-970-1948. It is Discover. I called the number and requested that my number be taken off their list. I was very nice and so were they. I was told it may take 24 hours to have my number taken off, but it would. They suggested i get on the do not call list, which I am. No problem with them and everyone was nice.

Called my cell phone and hung up when I answered.

they keep calling me 4-5 times a day and never leave a message. i'm closing my discover acct, they can go f*** themselves.

After repeated calls from this number and reading about this here on this site, I logged into my Discover account and sent an email requesting to be removed from their marketing list.   The calls stopped within a couple of days and I got this email:
Per your request, I have added your name and telephone number you provided to our do-not-solicit list. Because marketing campaigns may have begun prior to your request, we ask that you allow a reasonable amount of time for solicitations to stop.

To stop calls from other telemarketers, you can sign up with the National Do Not Call Registry by calling 1-888-382-1222 or by going to www.donotcall.gov.

Nuisance calls with no messages left and no ID on the caller.

I get about 3 calls a day- never a message and the caller id comes up as scrambled. I returned the call and they were happy to all to me about their identity theft products. I asked them to remove me from the call list and the telemarketer hung up on me. annoying.

We have been receiving calls from this number this past week.  The caller ID says DISCOVER.  They never leave a message so must not be too important if they don't have the courtesy to leave a message as we will not answer phone.  I f we need to talk to DISCOVer we will make the phone call to them.

Thanks everyone for complaining. My mother is getting these calls so I finally looked it up. Makes you so angry that anyone running or working at this company WASTES all our time with this BS!

I received a call from the North Carolina Number, I called the number back and got an answering machine playing a type of Oriental music. I will hang up on them.

I get that on my Caller ID also. I never answer; it's a robocall.

I keep getting these calls. They never leave a message other than my last name. My caller ID  states North Carolina. Checking with reverse phone numbers, it narrows to Charlotte. From other complainents, I found out it is DISCOVER whose card I have. Just today, I received 2 calls from them with no message.

Getting this number calling here on Long Island says its from NC with no one on the other end, repeated calls throughout the day with just silence. Calling them back is just a dead line it seems. After reading many posts I see some saying that its DISCOVER card. We do have discover cards which we recently started using but cant confirm that it is Discover calling us

Someone from this number calls my phone at least twice per day. They never leave a message, but they are using up my answering machine time. On my caller ID, it says North Carolina. They are a pain, and I want this to stop.

They have called me twice and the strangest thing happens. We do not have call waiting, so anyone calling while we're on the phone should get a busy signal.

We have a system that, if you are not already on the phone will show who is calling on the computer or TV screen and play harp sounds instead of a ring. It does not ring at all if you are talking on the phone. The caller should get a busy signal.

In the past two weeks, this 704-970-1948 has called twice, once when I was in another room and I thought my computer was crashing from the loud, clanging noise it made. It made the noise 6 times and then stopped by the time I got in the room with the computer.

Today it happened again, while I was talking on the phone to a friend in the room with the computer. It should have been impossible for anyone to call, let alone for a tone to be heard, but it showed up on the screen as an incoming call, and the really crazy thing was I finally realized what I was hearing......it was someone's personalized ring tone, as if I were calling them, instead of the other way around! It was made to sound like a musical clanging bell. It played loudly through my computer speakers. How is that even possible???

I can see how it could be Discover, since we have a Discover card, but how could they call when I was on the phone at the time, and how could a personal ring tone come through my computer speakers when they called? I am freaked out.

Well ignoring the robocalls which should usually stop on the 4th or 5th ring (depends on when the signal hits), collection agencies with live agents normally will call at least 12 times.  Back when everyone owned their own answering machines, you could call your machine and turn it on after the 12th ring.  Considering most phone providers include digital voice mail for free or nothing, it would be nice if the collection agencies would get with the program & stop this annoying habit.

I got a call from them but the following information showed in my caller ID:

   "itp07tst2413786", when I pressed select for additional information, the telephone number was 704-970-1948.  When my machine answered, no message was left.

Why don't people stop calling after the 5th time they attempt and no one picks up..it should indicate that you just don't want to be bothered... Can they just stop.. it is starting to annoy the heck out of me.. and to top it off.. when you pick up.. on one is there!!  Chichi ( New York)

These calls are very annoying. . . . . . .,in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening everyday.  I sincerely hope this takes care of this aggravation. Thank you very kindly.

Exactly what I keep getting...no messages, no answer on the other end.

We are getting this call, Caller ID reads Discover, 3-4 rings and try to answer and cuts off. Getting this call 3 to times a day & night, they are very annoying. Please, stop conning people idiots........
