Got a message asking homeowners to call in order to receive package sent to our attention.  Pressured us for our phone number but refused to tell us who the package was from and why they wanted to meet us.  I have since learned this company employs high pressure sales tactics.  This is more than mere telemarketing.  Wish I had recorded conversation so I could pass it along to Consumer and Commercial Affairs at Prov and Fed levels of government and to the police.

This scam is using your front door rather than your telephone. The company is O.F.Q Distributor. Hard sell vacuum cleaner sales. The method? They leave a sticky note on your front door with a note saying they have package on hold for you, item is URGENT.

Tactics changed. Now you get a scratch card in the mail. "Treasure Hunt" $10,000 prize.. . .and every card wins. Go figure! In the fine print - "You may be asked to view a FilterQueen indoor air quality system demonstration". Oh! your prize? Why, to be entered in a draw. Odds of winning? - 21 out of 1,000,000.

Most of the time, these are super-aggressive direct sales people who sell super-overpriced products who may or may not be running a scam. Many of these products are available for much $less at your local home improvement store. Best to keep them out of your home.

This message is from some company about coming into your house and doing a presentation about air purification and giving you a no obligation $10 Tim Horton gift card. My husband answered and gave a big speel. Sounds like a scam to me.
