got a text message at 3:30 AM and think it is phishing scam about dating

I got one saying something about a easy dating site and I don't know how this person got my number

Got the same txt at 4:14am. We are retired and just have the cell for emergencys and txting with family members, we are well spread out.
The cell going off at that hour scared us thinking something was wrong with the family.

I received the same text, but with a different name. The weird part was that it was my boyfriend's name, not mine. At first I thought it was a friend of his trying to make me think he was looking to cheat, until I Googled the number and found this post.

My husband I both received spam message from this number

I received a text at 21:47 on the 27th. "Here is the casual dating website I told you about at work Karl, Hookup. com - You will get action on there for sure, upload pics - I had a busy weekend ;)"

Got this message at 2:17 am. Have been wondering about it all day. Glad I googled this as I considered calling the number. This person is f****d and in need of serious help, also wondering how the heck they got all our numbers. What can be done to stop this? What is this putting us at risk of? Are our phones being hacked? My email and everything is connected to my phone.

I got the same text yesterday at 6:32 PM. Like, seriously?
I never subscribed for it! And as I know this number is of Barrie! I am from Barrie too and have the same area code i.e. 705!

This dude needs serious help

I got a message from a person with the same area code as me, so I thought it was someone who know me it read the fallowing "Alex here is the hookup site i told you am getting lots of action on, HookupCa.com. Way easier then POF, you will get laid on there. Do you still need a ride?"
:-O i was so freaken freaked out, i tryed texting back but no one replied.

I dont know if i should attempt to call this number tomorrow or just let it go as now I learned this is an actual scam text message.

number was 1204-798-6420

SAME number but different msg on text.  

"Al here is the hookupsite i told you I am getting tons of action on,
CANhookups.com. Way easier than POF, you will do well on there. Do you still need a ride?"

Simililar msgs... same number... and the same msg but from many different numbers are happening all over canada.  Can't someone please trace this scam?

I just got the same scam message from the same exact number about 10 minutes ago.  I wonder who the scammer is, what they want & where they received our cellular numbers from?!?

about an hr ago I received a message from a friend. .."SMS MESSAGE"  I texted him back to get details and he told me his phone must have pocket dialed.  I'm wondering if these two events are related.
