They called me once today while I was at work, didn't leave a message

keep getting calls from this number

GAH!! I have like 10 missed calls on my cell from this number everyday!! Isn't there some sort of law against this? What happens is, my phone rings once, then stops, then rings again, then stops, and it does this 5 times over... I have never answered.

These scammers are calling from several different numbers though they all end in 8989. Got this one on my cell. I've had to turn the ringer off and set it to vibrate which means I might miss a legitimate call now thanks to these idiots.

Same thing... the air miles call.... their recording sounds so retro.... its so fake.... I wish I knew how to make these things stop...

It came to my Telus Cell phone at 5:10pm on the pacific coast.

Got a call from this number, didn't answer it as I didn't recognize the number... from what you others have reported I'm happy I didn't.

Not really. They can robodial all the numbers in 604 and 778. Your best defence is to ignore calls from numbers that you don't recognize. If it's from someone you know, they more likely will leave a message.

Said you have been accepted to receive 2500 bonous airmiles. To accept press 1. What a load of S**t. disconnected. scam.

Getting calls from this number too, on a brand new cellphone number.
Must be Telus who sells our numbers for telemarketing, since I have not given this number to anyone at all  yet, and it's not listed anywhere
Would like Telus to deny that.

Just got this come into cell phone and when answered, on the other end it started to ring. ????

It's a telemarketer. Mine was an auto recorded message that said something about Airmiles. I hung up immediately.

Just got a call from them. So lame... I'm with Rogers.

These people need to get a life...........

This number keeps calling and never leaves message. Won't EVER be answering this call.

The recording said I had won 2600 Air Miles .... blah blah ... didn't listen to the rest.

Got a call from this number tonight. Didn't answer but I did start googleing the number to see what I could dig up on it. It appears to be a scam. On a site similar to this one there is more information. Check it out. http://www.whycall.me/705-983-8989.html

Autodialed automated message to an unlisted corporate cell phone.

FFS -- why the hell doesn't bell canada and the others get a contract with websites like this - the live complaints can easily and quickly let them shut off these idiots who are abusing their systems and violating their terms of service.

I got the same call on my work number with the same pitch. I said I was not interested. I checked wih Airmiles they do not do this. I called  the Canadain Anti-fraudCerntre and reported it. I suggest others that are called also do this.

I received a call from this number a few minutes ago. I did not answer as I have seen this # before and its total BS.
I have never had marketing calls to my cellular # and never, ever give it out.
How is this legal for them?

Got one today, pre-recorded message mentions something about free air miles.

Recieved a call from this number on my cell. Didn't answer because I didn't know the number. I believe these are phone scammer's who make money off us if we answer the call.  They keep you on line as long as possible because they make money off us for every minute you are on the phone.  A friend told me about a guy he knew that went into hotels and used their phones and called randome numbers, people would answer and he would put the phone down and go to the next phone and do the same thing. The longer you are on the phone with this call the more money it costs you and the more money he makes......
People DO NOT ANSWER THESE TYPES OF CALLS.....just saying.....if you don't recognize the number, don't answer......
