I get calls from this number but let machine answer no message is left. I'm in Grovetown,Ga. and caller ID indicates it's from Appling,Ga. which is eight miles up the road.

Robo recorded message, claiming I had visited one of their website. The number they call was one of our secondary numbers we do not give out.

If you ever get an automated call, it is illegal. You'll know automatically that it is a scam where criminals are looking for credit cards and identities.

Telemarketing calls are completely illegal. You'll only recove an automated call from businesses you deal with. Like emergency warnings, drugs stores informing you about our prescriptions etc. other than that, they are illegal. Telemarketing scams are on the rise.

Phone rang once and then nothing.

Just called while I was on the line with someone else.  Returned call because it was 706.  Told me the same thing everyone else is hearing about visiting a website and having a reward gift card.

This is a scam, but due to the no call list they will let it ring once and hang up. They expect people to call them back thus they did not violate the no call law.

Called and hung up. I didn't call back I looked the number up and found everyone commenting on it

I just got the same call from this number! I didnt answer nor did i call them back! This number needs to be blocked!! I live in Colorado now but I used to live in Augusta... How are these people getting numbers? That should be illegal!

They call several times a week.
If I do answer they hang up.
I would like to tell them to check their Do Not Call List as I am on it,
but they do not give me the chance.

They are not in Athens. Because you (and others) either live in Athens GA or can in some way be affiliated with Athens Georgia, this companies robo service chooses and Athens phone number for its caller ID so most will think they are receiving a local call and pick up.

With VOIP (voice over IP, or internet calling) you can buy numbers from almost anywhere in the world.

How do I know that the call I received was a scam? The number they called is a roll over VOIP # that is unlisted and we don't give out.

also this happened about 1 minute after i sent an email containing my phone number to an email address hosted on uga.edu. They must be selling our info or something

Just got a call from this number and it just rang once as well and hung up.  Called it back because it is a 706 Zip.  Recording says they called because I visited one of the affiliate websites and they have a rebate card for me!  What sucks is I used to live in Athens, GA so I wanted to know if it was legit.
