Legitimate or not, they can't collect on a debt which was disputed years ago and they never validated. Period.

This business is collections services of Athens. It is a legitimate business and many think it is a scam when they will not tell you right away who they are. Legally they can't because by disclosing the name of the business they hinting the nature of the business which invades the privacy of the people they are trying to reach. Answer them or your debt will go on your cf and it won't come off.

They called my number and wanted some one named Fred, the next time when I picked up they was no one there I was one holded and on my cell,so I hung up

I've gotten about 6 calls from these jokers.  Finally, I called them today (long distance for me) and informed them that I am on the "do not call registry."  He refused to tell me what this was concerning, refused to identify (even in the broadest of terms) what the nature of his business is/was.  I told him that I would report him to the do not call registry as harrassing me and was shouted at.  At that pointed, I hung up.  Interesting note--on the caller ID it came up as a totally different number--706-247-8394 which lists as a cell phone for the area.  

I think (just from the cagey nature of why he would not tell me what he did) that they are bill collectors or some sort of private detective.  Who knows.  I do plan to report them, though.

ya'll are dumbasses. pay your bills. stop acting dumb and get a job...maybe then you won't get calls.

The company "CSA" is Collection Services of Athens.  They are actually a legitimate company, and they are a collection agency.  They are under contract with quite a few businesses for collection services, including many doctors and one of the local hospitals.

This number has called several times and pretends to be a local business.
They ask for a name, but never give a reason why as they call, or what it concerns. Beware of these scam artists, these are not debt collectors, but people looking for gullible people to try and get info out of, maybe some sort of identity theft or criminal activity, do not talk to them , but report these idiots and they are ridiculously stupid if they continue doing this, some one as my self with notable computer knowledge
would be more them happy to help send them to jail where they belong!

We also received a call from 706-357-9142, it appears to be some kind of telemarketing situation. I actually live in the area this number originates in and did a little leg work. It's registered to this company:

I work not too far from the listed address and might be paying them a visit directly to see what this "Urgent business" is all about.

They call repeatedly but it is apparently a recording.  It can not be a legitimate company because they would have sent me something my as well but they haven't.

We got the call as well from 706-357-9130, with absolutely nothing but a recording that went on and on.  I don't even know what number was given since we hung up after I said if it is a real company about a real so-called debt, well then they can have a real person on the other end of the line or I'm not even going to give that call the time of day.  I suggest everyone else does the same, don't call them back, look at the money and time you just wasted.  If it is legitimate the company will at least try and snail mail you some paperwork, etc., etc., but don't give them information if you do call them!  Happy Holidays everyone!!

Got a call today from this number.  I don't know who it is, but they were looking for someone named Rucker.  They gave me a reference number, which violated this person's rights to privacy.

I called them back and left a not so nice message on their answering machine.
