email from "Mr Marcos Williams" of Sunrise Travel Limited (701 Capital of Texas Highway, S, Austin, TX 78746; tel +1. 706.549.4621) wants to make hotel reservations without specifying the hotel or even the city

IT IS A SCAM. He pretends he has a rental for you.  Asks you to fill out an application and wire him money for an "application fee" or "security deposit".  He advertises on CRAIGSLIST - BEWARE BEWARE - DO NOT SEND HIM ANY MONEY.  REPORT HIM TO CRAIGSLIST RIGHT AWAY.... AND THE POLICE - WE HAVE. Here's one of the emails he sent us.  He uses different names with gmail e-mail addresses:

We've been looking for a house to rent north of us (where I'll be going to grad-school come fall.) I use Craigslist a lot and I have to say, I'm getting so friggin' sick of these bottom feeders.  I've seen them for cars, house rentals, photo equipment. There is a part of me that wants to hunt them down and crush them little little roaches, to somehow use their email address to find them, their IP address, anything.

I've had these useless lowlifes pretend to be pastors, the spouse of someone dying of cancer, a crippled soldier from the Iraq war. Here is an example of an email reply I got:

Here's another one from the same SCAM JERK ON CRAIGSLIST just a few months ago.  SPREAD THE WORD AND let's stop other honest people being scammed by this guy. He always uses the same types of e-mails, always a gmail e-mail address and always asks you to wire in the application or rental fee fro $500 to $1200 BUDDY - YOU NEED TO GO TO JAIL.

then i called yellow rose delivery they told me that this is not email by us and they dont do online business....

I too received a similar reply but the name on the response was 'Kris Higgins'.  I googled the name and didnt find anything here in WA so then I tried the phone number.  I knew the offer was too good to be true $700/mo for a house listed on the market for $600,000.  He also gave the response about his wife telling him not to sell and deciding to rent.

I am glad that I googled this number (706-549-4621) and found this website! Otherwise, I would have been scammed big time. I saw this ad on craigslist about a 2BR townhouse for $1200/mo (with pictures-one of the house and another of a furnished living room) and sent email to the person. I got a long email from a person named John Berger who mentioned similar story of having moved to Atlanta, GA and that he can send the key/security code if I could come up with the security deposit of $700.

What aroused my suspicion was the tone of the email. It seemed the person was really desperate to have the house rented, which is odd because with such a cheap rent he should be getting numerous inquiries for rent (he was offering 2BR for $1200/mo, whereas around here even a 1BR is 1200-1300/mo, although one could possibly find a 2BR for 1450/mo, albeit in an old house and a 5-6 blocks away). Another thing was that this person was invoking "God"- God fearing tenant, offering for cheaper price because he was paying back to God etc. Granted there are some people who invoke God many times, but it seemed odd to do so in email, esp. in an email to someone you've never known. On top of these, the email was in a sloppy English. If it were from a non-English sounding name, instead of from "John Berger", I would have ignored the sloppiness because there are lot of people whose English is less than perfect. But this guy was John Berger, and not, for example, Jose Rodriguez!

Anyway, here's the email that I received from this scammer who said his contact phone no. was 706-549-4621. So, if you ever find a deal that is too good or if the contact no. is 706-549-4621, then know that it is a scam!!

Person identifying self as "Pamela Call" (which is the name of a company that manufactures SKYPE cameras) wanted to rent a house on Craig's list in Spokane WA.  Sent several emails to me identifying herself as from Atlanta, GA and requested that I wire a $500 deposit and she would send me the keys as she had no one locally manage the property. She gave me a phone number and address, but no answer when I tried to call numerous times.  Went to view the rental property (which was empty), then knocked on the neighbor's door.  Found out it was rented by a local property management company, not the individual in Atlanta.  MAJOR SCAM!!!
