I just got a Robocall to Campbell, CA from 706-805-1778:, caller ID shows CARDMEMBER SVCS
Just reported them to the FTC, DNC and most importantly, the Nomorobo list.

The phone companies must be on these types of calls otherwise they could do something. Call you telephone company. I did but probably a waste of time like all of this.

These people (Cardmember Services) are credit card thieves. They have asked me for my credit card number (which is why I think they are credit card thieves), and they emphatically refuse to give me a number where I can call them back. With good reason, because then law enforcement would be able to find them. They also break the law every time they call me because my number is on the Do Not Call list, the call is recorded, and they refuse to identify their real phone number.
If you want to jerk them around and waste their time (but not yours), pretend interest. Tell them you owe upward of $10K, with interest of 14% or more. Then, when they ask for your credit card statement, tell them you have to go find it. (Don't give them your real name or zip code, either.)Then eat your meal, read the newspaper, or whatever. String them along to keep them on the line. Then end with the bum's rush where you ask for a number where you can call them back. When they refuse to give you one, pretend surprise and ask, "Are you a reputable business? I don't do business with people who don't have addresses or phone numbers. Maybe you are really a thief; if so, never call me again."

I get an average of 3 unwanted calls a day, sometimes as many as 10 in a single day. A lot more than the 339 you list over 2 years. How does this blocking work?
TelcoITman 2014-02-13 01:11:47 Telemarketer
I find some of the remarks posted about these ?faux telemarketer calls? amusing. I have software that has logged over 339 of these annoyance calls since 2012. Those of you that let the calls roll to your answering machine or voicemail have just ensured you will get another of these calls. Maybe not from the same number, but they?ve just identified your number as valid and passed it on. Most of the initial calls originate from software (aka; ?robocalls?) ? once your number is identified as active, then a person may be there on the follow up calls. If you have the capability to ?block? the number that called ? that is the best action. If you don?t have a blocking option, sit close by a phone with caller ID then simply hit talk and off simultaneously. If you really want to block them ? there is reasonably priced software that a layman can install. Of the 339 calls I?ve blocked, only 16 have been in the last 6 months. So the message is simple ? blocking works?.

Have received this "important call about your credit card" robo-call, automatic computer generated call thousands of times. It has to stop.

I received a call from this number, as well. I've learned not to pick up on calls I do not recognize. I did write the number down and immediately went on line to see if others have received calls from this caller. Obviously, there are a lot of people who have. Rule of Thumb: Don't give these sick "F's" your information. Unfortunately, there are many individuals out there who won't do the right thing and work to earn what they need and want, and they prey upon the rest of us. BEWARE!

I've been receiving calls from 'Card Services' for a couple of years. I tried putting their phone number onto my call block list, but soon ran out of space as they have NUMEROUS phone numbers. I'm on the Do Not Call.gov list which doesn't filter out any these type of calls. I've also reported lists of these numbers to the complaint dept of Do Not Call.gov to no avail. There is no point to registering on that lsite- what do you expect as run by govt!

Receive calls, no message something t imes, I have picked up places on hold... As far as I can tell is a scam. I asked what it was about, they said they reduce your credit card interest...... I told them we are on the nationwide DONOT CALL LIST .... They said they are exempt from that..... We do not have a credit card....
Lynne 2014-02-08 16:18:07 Unknown
Absolutely correct! Do NOT answer and whatever you do, do NOT press a number. You are indeed only verifying to these creeps that you have a working number. I do have a fax machine on my line, so when I see this number, I press "Start" so that they get a fax tone instead of my answering machine. So far that hasn't stopped the calls, though. :-(
Barbara 2014-02-07 01:03:42 Unknown
Here is some advice......DO NOT answer the call or allow your machine to answer. When you answer, you are telling the scammers they have reached a good working number and they will continue to call you.....and when you press 1 to take your name off the list....they are getting a good laugh. I do not answer these calls and after 2 or 3 times, they move on to an idiot who answers....use some common sense....

It was a recording stating it was about my credit card. Press 1 to speak w associate. I pressed one.... The rep asked if I had more than 10k debt. I asked to have my # removed from database. She hung up on me.

Also received a call from Card Member Services. Press 1 and blew a very loud whistle into the woman's ear about 10 times. She asked me to stop at one point. They won't take me off their list so this is what they'll get from now on.
Rob 2014-02-06 17:39:17 Unknown
Don't follow this jerk's link, he's a scammer too...
lemony 2014-02-06 17:29:20 Unknown
they hang up as soon as you ask them to take you off their list. I have filed 5 complaints to the FCC, it does nothing to stop it.

I've done this to telemarketers in the past . at&t did not hook up my business line nor put. My number in the phone book . a residential tech wired it through my 2free wires on my residential phone when he came to add new outlets ( business was out of my home ) . the only thing that did was get me incessant telemarketing calls especially from phone book companies . I just started forwarding my number to the worst violators so they would call themselves and receive my other annoying calls .
The problem with these people is the number they are using is not theirs . Their are using a spoofer . I just EFF with them and waste their time
I'm a scambaiter st heart ... Lol

There are so many of these PHONY # and the people behind it can change the # in a heartbeat. Truly, NO ONE can keep up with these PHONY BALONEY calls. The ONLY way I get to have "piece of mind" is CALL BLOCK. There are phones that specifically have this as a feature. The newer models have a CALL BLOCK that can block 100 phone numbers. My phone blcoks up to 50. When it's full, I can go back and erase # that haven't called back in a while. And once it's cleared and they start up again, I just hit CALL BLOCK. It rings a half of a ring and displays "CALLER BLOCKED". It then shows who called. And NO MESSAGE can be left. I heard of people answering these scammers, saying YES !!! I am very interested ! and put the phone down and walk away. IF they are still waiting on the phone, the person says "Hold on a minute...I am OLD and have to find my glasses". Again, if they still are on, the person says " OOPS Hold on !!! I have to get my hearing aid". By that time they are GONE...!!!

706-805-1778 Appears they have now changed to "the last notice to sign up for the financial stimulus program". I wish it was the last. We have received several similar calls from other GA numbers over the last few months.

It has been reported in numerous print and electronic media that the "card service" scammers are being recruited at Narcotics Anonymous meetings in South Florida. It needs to be pointed out to people which are receiving these calls, what type of creature is on the other end of the line, in order to protect themselves. You're certainly correct that scams have been around a long time. I believe that spreading the word of the scams to those likely to be taken advantage of, can be an effective tool in cutting off the scammer's sources of revenue, eventually putting them out of business.

These posts are helpful, but they do not stop the calls and future traps for the unsuspecting and the naive.
Therefore, first, make sure that your phone numbers are on the Do Not Call List. Then, everyone should file complaints with the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) at http://www.fcc.gov/complaints. If enough people complain, may be these people will get caught. I am afraid that many of our senior citizens who are home alone and lonely are becoming an easy prey to these predators.
