Just got a call from this number so these crooks are still active.

Just received a call from this number, 1-707-822-9870.  Did not recognize number, so did not answer - no message left.  I never answer the phone if I don't recognize the number.

This same number called me stating that my computer has been sending out errors etc. They claimed to be Microsoft employees and has called to help me remove viruses from my computer. I was threatened that my computer would be locked if I had not purchased a new license from them. Then they kept trying to convince me into giving out my credit card/ bank info.
When I said I had no money she passed the phone to her manager "Jack" (I may have heard wrong) and another lady was put on the line. When she picked up she just went straight into more pricing over the licenses etc and kept pestering me about my bank info.
I told them I wasn't interested and they put another person on the line to try to persuay me into buying it. I hung up and they called me back with a different number 521 589 0000. I recognized the same lady from the first call, she also asked why I had hung up. At this point I already knew this was a scam so I just hung up on her. (As Ken had stated, they all had a middle eastern or indian accent) They haven't called back since.

The person who called claimed to be calling because he "received errors from my computer".  Interestingly, he mentioned working for a "Windows" company.  Since we don't use Windows (we have a Mac), I know this is a telemarketing (or identity theft?) call!  Further, we are on the no -call list, so I asked him to remove me from his caller list.  He said that he can't do that.  I firmly stated that I do not want his calls and that I will be reporting this call, at which point he quickly hung up on me.

Called on my landline, no response for a few seconds, then a synthetic female voice said "goodbye".
My landline and my cell phone are on the Canada/USA unsolicited call system which doesn't seem to deter any of these telephone scammers.

Just got a call from this number at 10:42 pm PST. I looked it up online and it says it's a call coming from Arcata, California. Called back and apparently the phone number has been disconnected. SCAM of some sort I assume.

Comme plusieurs personnes, j'ai reçu un appel de ce numéro de téléphone.  Un homme avec un fort accent se dit de la compagnie Microsoft et dit qu'il y a un problème avec mon ordinateur ... apparemment un virus.  Je lui dit qu'aujourd'hui même, j'apporte mon ordi pour un entretien .... la réponse : non, ne le faites pas, on peut régler le problème par téléphone.  J'ai tout de suite soupçonné une attrape ... je lui ai fermé la ligne au nez !!!!  S'ils rappellent, je ferai probablement la même chose que PANDA, je vais lui dire que ma ligne est surveillée par la police .... en espérant qu'ils me fichent la paix !!!

Called at 1:30 am a lady with an Indian accent called to tell me it was very important she talk to me about my computer. Why can't the phone companies put a stop to these calls. Sick and tired if them. I was a little pissed an asked her how the hell did she know anything about my computer. Oh, she knew lots. NOT!!

called today.. someone else in my household answered. I would not have but the conversation was recorded on our answering machine.  Definite criminal intent.. Asked if they could p/u our computer because of dangerous downloads detected. Could hardly understand his thick accent..this activity should be reported by anyone receiving these calls...

Got a call on my cell phone from someone saying he is from Microsoft and he was calling because there is a virus on my computer.  My husband told him that he did not believe he was from Microsoft.  The caller then called my husband a M*** F**.

I got a call from this numer in Australia. Didnt answer as had got a call from another overseas number yesterday and when I answered there was nobody there

this number called my house at 12:30 a.m. they had such a foreign accent could not understand them. something about microsoft windows.

This man "Mark Williams" kept calling a staff member at my office. He had called and spoke with her about a "debt" she owed. She said she owed nothing and he demanded a credit card number over the phone. She hung up on him and he repeatedly called her on her cell phone and at our office. He would not tell me what he was calling about and where he was calling from, other than "California." I told him she was unavailable and would give no more information than that unless he gave me more information. He told me he was going to keep calling and calling and calling and calling. That he did... After I told him he was in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Act, he said he just wanted to talk to her and make a deal. I am lucky, however. I work for attorneys. So I said "Fine, I'll grab her, hold on," and transferred "Mark" to one of our attorneys. Our attorney asked him to send any information and contact ONLY him, no longer my staff member and we have not heard from him since.

DO NOT TAKE THESE CALLS AND DO NOT SEND MONEY! TOTAL SCAM!

I recieved a call from this number today. Same microsoft windows speel as people noted above. I told him he was a scammer then he laughed an hung up.

Assuming this is the PC service scam again (I don't know - I didn't answer) it's interesting to note I received none of these calls over a period of about 4 months but since the so-called crackdown a couple weeks ago I'm now getting several calls a day. Must be someone seeking revenge...

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected-corrupted scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.
It is especially dangerous now because criminals are actively attacking unpatched Java security holes so don't let anyone into your PCs.

They claimed to be from Microsoft and wanted to know if there were any error messages on my computer. They had a program that would remove all the viruses that were on my hard drive. Handed me off to two other people claiming to be tech support for Microsoft. When I found out it was just a sales call and confronted them on it they last statement I heard as they hung up was "he is not going to buy" and then click. This is BS. I am sure Microsoft has other things to do other than call everyone using a Micrsoft operating system and offer repairs. They seemed to be of middle eastern or indian descent by there voices.

This number has been calling me repeatedly.   When I answer the phone there is a delay, and then a mechanical voice says "goodbye."  

707 is north of San Francisco, California.

Called twice today.  Had been same kind of robocalls  from 253-429-3454 4 times a day.  

Understand, I am retired  and debt free.  Not bill collectors calling.  This has got to be some kind of telemarketer/scammer.

=A family should be able to live w/o all this noise!

This caller did not speak. I have had three calls in 3 hrs.from solicitors today I am fed up

Cet indien se faisait passer pour un agent microsoft pour me dire que mon ordinateur provoquait des virus sur la toile. Il me disait de garder la ligne et mettre mon ordinateur en ligne pour qu'il puisse en prendre le controle et corriger le problème. J'ai raccroché et depuis ce temps ils rappellent régulièrement (2 fois par mois). Si vous le pouvez ne répondez pas à ce numéro.

Call from somewhere in India from a guy calling himself "Calvin" (a. Who the hell names their child 'Calvin' post 1960? And b. Your name is Calvin like my name is Queen Elizabeth II) who made sure to squeeze in as many words as he could before being disconnected. Managed to get out, "...that this is a survey call..." before getting shut down, which just reinforced my decision to hang up on him. I really hate people sometimes.

Thank God for caller ID.  I never answer these calls and they never leave a message.  Just don't answer folks!

I also got phonecalls from this number. I live in Norway and how the f*** did they get my number? I didn't pick up. The number was from California. 5 min later another phonecall came in from New York. I wish I picked up so I could TEAR THEM A NEW ONE!!!

I get calls for several different things, often it is for computer stuff, than for air duct cleaning, heating, and the list of services and numbers used goes on and on.

I am in Germany and I keep receiving calls from numbers like this (all technically North American, but all over the continent...the numbers always change), saying they're from Windows. Obviously they're not. If I don't answer, they call back, from a different number. They're obviously scammers....don't give them any info!

I want to know how they got my number in the first place. Even I don't know my German fixed line number...I always use my cell.

I got the same type of call just like Julie and JLB claiming he's from Microsoft and saying the same type of gibberish. And I must say I like Julie's comments and have to agree with her. These people are obviously scammers fishing for your information wanting to rip you off in some way so don't be a fool and send them money or buy anything from them. Do not be scammed.

The guy had a Hindi accent. He also asked how many computers I have.  He should know by my IP address if I was sending or receiving information from them shouldn't he?  Anyway I told the guy that I thought this is a scam and I didn't want to pay long distance charges and hang-up.  He never called back. An hour later I searched the # 707-822-9870  which lead me to here.

I recommend you don't answer calls from numbers you don't recognize specially long distance calls just like I  normally do. I just let the machine answer. This time however I was fast asleep when the phone rang and stupidly answered before I had a look at the number.

HE KEEPS CALLING ME FROM DIFFERENT NUMBERS AND NOW HE HAS CALLED MY WORK NUMBER. HE SAYS I OWE MONEY AND I TOLD THEM TO SEND THE BILL TO MY HOME. HE HASNT SENT ANYTHING. HE THREATENED ME THE OTHER DAY WHEN HE LEFT A MESSAGE ON MY CELL PHONE.

Also just got a call from the same number..... had the Asian man speak for some time, telling me I had a problem with my computer, etc .... then told him that our conversation was being monitored AND traced by the Police...  He said ' You are going to call the police?'.  I said 'NO, I'm keeping you on line long enough for a trace to be made.'  He hung up.
