I too have just gotten a call from this number. I tried calling back, and you're right, it's not a valid number. I double-checked my Do Not Call registry and my cell phone is listed since July 2009. I filed a complaint. I also added them to my contact list under SPAM so the next time (if there IS a next time), I can just ignore or hang up on 'em. I find it interesting that they don't even leave the name of the company. So what's the point??

All,
Someone is using a spoof number and dialing one number after another. Two of my phones were called several hours apart and no message was left. The caller id goes back to a number that is disconnected.
Impact: The unknown caller will acquire the name or message on your phone when it goes to voicemail.
Why this can happen: The phone companies allow internet calls into the public network with phony caller ids that track back to anyone's number.
start adding your city/cell carrier 2011-06-06 20:55:05 Unknown
everyone start listing what geographical region you are rec. this call from, AND what cell carrier you use (do NOT list you cell # obviously).
I rec. this call in chicago area / T-Mobile. (708 is a area code used in the chicago area)
The call source is 99% likely not the legit #, it is spoofing the number, your call is not actually coming from the number listed. If you look at the 'missed calls' folder on my cell phone, this call is the only one that does not list a '1' prefix ahead of the missed call, as it did not really come from the number shown.
In my area you CANNOT dial a number even within the local area, without a '1-xxx' ahead of the number, so it is definitely spoofed. 'reporting' this number to the authorities may not be effective as its not a real #.
also, the source spoofing this number is specifically targeting cell phones as well as the land line at the SAME cell owners home, which means the person receiving the call is the FOCUS, and being targeted, not a random, totally ineffective, telemarketing attempt to sell insurance.
Here is my theory; I do not think this is any attempt (incompetent) to sell/tele-market insurance- this is possibly a attempt ascertain your whereabouts by checking the 'ping' records from the cell tower that your call is directed through, when you answer/return the call. This would only require purchasing the records from your cell carrier either legally or through a illegal deal with a cell-carrier employ who has computer access.
this would be a benefit, for instance, to a collection agency or to a process server who was trying to serve you, so they can establish where you are likely to be found at a given time.
this is not a normal telemarket scam in my opinion, and its important to get to bottom of this.
If a private detective/process server is committing crimes by making illegal/spoofed calls, or buying confidential ping records from their girlfriend who works at T-Mobile, then they are going to jail, and we are entitled to monetary damages- both from them and the carrier.
(PLEASE NOTE- this agency is lazy as they can/could change the number they spoof any time they want, so once they reads this,
the number you get these calls from could be changed completely, OR have a '1' added to the front of it to make it conceivably possible to be a 'real' number..etc, so stay on your toes)

This is bull, grow up and market another way you babies
Linda 2011-06-06 20:55:05 Unknown
Tried calling this # back, but its not accepting inbound calls. Looks like its only used for outbound telemarketing/scams. We called our carrier (T-Mobile) to see if they could help, but no luck there. This is absolutely ridiculous! Whatever happened to privacy! Not even sure who to report this nonsense activity to... if anyone knows who I can contact (phone #) please advise, I'm ready to give someone a good a** chewing on the privacy laws. Thanks.

STOP CALLING ME!! Argh, I accidentally cussed when i received the call. The parents of a nearby child complained. LOL

Calling me on a cellphone number which is private to my family and therefore can only presumably have been provided by Verizon, not impressed. Started after we blocked the number on our home phone, upwards of half a dozen calls now between the two.

Received this call last night - a Sunday - in Chicago - and no one left a message. Re: the other posts - cell phone carriers, sppofs, or not do not have to dial a 1 to nmake or recieve calls from this Area Code.
This is probably a front for a spammer - much like e-mail spams that hide behind legit numbers. My advice, don't answer it!
gerr 2011-06-06 20:55:05 Unknown
stop calling.

smartphone users learn how to use your phones. there are apps for all makes that will block calls from any number you program before you even get these calls. this number showed up on a boost back up phone that 3 people have the number to and it hasnt been used since labor day weekend

Why am I getting solicitation calls for health insurance on my cell phone?
yb 2011-06-06 20:55:05 Unknown
recieved a call from this number didn't answer and no message was left. It is not fair for telemarketers to use such practices to get business. There really should be a law not to call anyone before 1000am or after 7pm. I don't care if it's the best time to reach individuals..it is aggravating to be bothered. Numbers should not be sold, rented, or used for any purpose other than what the owner decides. Learn some new business practices!
at&t 2011-06-06 20:55:05 Unknown
this is NOT a attempt to sell health insurance..
no ONE has ever spoken to a person at this 'company', and no one buys 'insurance' from a company that does not even have/leave its name..
this is about something else.. they do not care about insurance sales, and obviously are not making money off of these calls through sales.
they want to induce a call-back for some reason.. that is the purpose of the call- the question is what do the gain or what information do they harvest from the call back to their voice mail box
Paula 2011-06-06 20:55:05 Unknown
Getting charged for this incoming call on my cell phone and don't appreciate having to pay for unknown callers who are soliciting me. This is very unfair to be charged for this incoming call.
