"Mitchells Comm." (per my caller ID) left message on my landline at 4:05PM EDT, which I could barely understand between the obvious bad cellular signal and urban hustler accent. He said I had won a car, and that he wouldn't be wasting his time if it were not true. Ri-i-i-g-g-ht! I researched both the company and the number and found a long history of scam calls, stretching back years. I am on every Do Not Call list I know of.
Its bad enough that we get bothered by this crap, but it is an unwieldy process to report these kinds of scam calls to the government. They should be monitoring sites such as this, where they can get a very high concentration of complaints with little effort.

IMPORTANT READ: with any suspected phone scam, DO NOT.....EVER.......call back a given TOLL FREE NUMBER (whether it be an 800, 877, or any other)!! Why?.........because with that being their number, they paying for the phone calls to their toll free #, not you, they get the PHONE BILL. On that toll free telephone company phone bill, they get your information. At minimun, they can now match YOUR NAME & YOUR ADDRESS with YOUR PH#, even if your # is nonpublished!! That which they may never have had before, IF they are cold calling via a sequential # dialing system. All they had then, was a phone #. They had no idea who they were calling, but for a city/state. You call back using their TOLL FREE #, they then get all that information noted above. Because they are the ones paying for your phone calls to them, so it is their right from their toll free provider. They use a regular phone # to make the calls from, for it is cheaper than making outgoing calls from their toll free#. THEN, you get put on their MAILING LISTS for anything they are trying to sell you AND they sell your information to ANY OTHER MAILING LIST willing to pay for it, and there are zillions!!! DO NOT CALL BACK ANY TOLL FREE # under these circumstances.

Just rcvd a call from them to Mom's place, while visiting Mom. She didn't know the place per Caller ID, so I answered it. The male caller says, "Oh, uh, I must've called the wrong place. I'm sorry." I'm going to research this number a bit more, here, and elsewhere. If it has a negative history, I will work to ID it.

Caller ID says Mitchells Communications. Message said someone had entered our name in a contest for a new and we were going to be awarded "one of the top four prizes. Had to call 877-279-3457, ext. 109 to get it. Name was Tony. Got same call from "Tony" a few months ago -- different 708 area code number. "Tony" said he was from some "Service Center" but the name was unintelligible.
