I work in a museum and he called our Marketing dept. first and then the Executive Office asking to speak to our CEO about renewing our "Wyatt Connect" online listings, which I've never heard of. I told him that our CEO was not available and asked if I could take a message, but he insists on speaking with her. He just called again this afternoon. But now that I know for sure it's a scam I will either shut him down or not answer his call. Thanks for the scoop folks.

Called here, trying to "verify" a listing, after reading here, I told them I wasn't interested and hung up. Thanks for the heads up!

Beware, these guys are scammers. They ask to confirm your company contact information for your listing...but they don't tell you it will cost you $699/year, you have to ask if there is a charge. When I asked why they did not tell me about the charge the caller was rude, said they will take down our listing and hung up on me. SCAMMERS!

I just received this phone call... very polite. They just wanted to confirm that my listing hasn't changed which we reviewed and right at the end they said. Very well... we won't make any changes and we'll keep the invoice the same. To which I said what?? The invoice is $693 or something like that. I quickly said - remove me from the server and DON'T invoice. To which they said... ok we'll try again next year.
Geezzzz! I never signed up for this service in the first place.... but there are several of these services that offer a free listing. This must have been one of them and then they come back and ask for money the next year.

Telemarketer: They are peddling Business Directory Listings. They are polite and professional.
IF you want a listing in the Directory they are selling for, by all means, proceed.
If you do NOT want a listing in that Directory, the objective becomes ... get them to end the call quickly. A word of caution ... once these calls start, they usually continue for a month or so, regardless of what you say. There is little sense in getting upset - not good for YOUR health. Besides, the caller is just an employee, doing their job ... that person is NOT aware that you may have already received several calls. Simply, remain calm and try my suggested solution.
These calls usually start with, "I'm calling to confirm / update your listing in ..." (whichever Directory they are selling for)
From decades of experience I have learned the best answer is, "OK, but before we start, be advised that if this ends up with me purchasing anything - I am definitely NOT interested."
That response lets them know they are wasting their time. They usually respond with, "thank you." Then THEY disconnect.
This works for me 98% of the time.
