claim they can call even on do-not-call list numbers

Ok I recieved a call today from the number below and a lady with a accent spoke to me about winning $125.00 in gas cards. She stated she needed my address and some other info.  She asked my name and I gave her a bogus name and a bogus address once i did that she asked me who My real name was and gave me my current address. So they have some sort of list of names. She told me she worked for http://www.valuebenefitsofamerica.net/  and that the company was based out of Los Angeles.  I am going to call this company on Monday and give them the numbers and see if they know what it is about.

Same info as above, they call about two times a day, say nothing and then hang up.  I recieve calls from this and various other 712-429-**** #'s.  After doing some looking I found the #'s to belong to:

A women there informed me that this company had some #'s stolen when they were being sold, and that the FBI had been informed, she told me she was going to pass my phone # on to them but, they had nothing to do with the calls. Seems to me that this company shouldn't be doing business if they can't keep their info private. Not sure how much of what she said is true.  for all I know she could be working with our "best friend" from "Iowa"...something has got to give...

We have just moved to Mississippi and have begun getting calls from these numbers as well. When you answer no one says anything and when you try to call back it always says disconnected. This happens two to three times everyday. The numbers i have so far are listed below. All listed as Sloan, IA.

I plan to keep a record of all calls from Sloan, IA. If this continues I will seek out a lawyer. If anyone else is still having problems with these numbers please leave me a message here.

I just moved to Atlanta about 2 months ago, and everyday since I got my home phone turned on, this number has called me sometime in the afternoon. It always says unknown name on my caller ID. I didn't answer the phone for the first few weeks, but I started to answer when that number called, but a few seconds after answering, they always hang up. When I looked up the number, I found out that it was coming from Sloan, IA, and then I stumbled across this site.

Do all of you have phone service through your cable company? Whoever your provider is, it looks like they are selling their customer's telephone numbers to these marketing companies. I don't think www.donotcall.gov will even block them. What do you think? Try calling your telephone service provider and attempt to stop this bs!

after several annoying calls i tried the value benefits toll free number and spoke with a female representative.  She did not deny that her company was the one making the calls, and even said "you call it back and find it disconnected, right?"  I threatened her with filing a complaint on do not call registry, and with the FCC. we shall see if that helped. i will report back at a later time

i also use charter and get several # with the same area code, did you find out how to get rid of them?

We setup our home phone about a month ago and we get several calls a day from this Celebration place, as well as from other "unknown callers".  This is extremely annoying and we would like it to stop.

We are using Charter as our service provider and I am beginning to think Charter may be selling our phone number to telemarketers.  I truly hope this is not the case, but I am curious to know what service provider everyone else who is experiencing this problem is using.

We recently moved here from another state and just as soon as we got phone service we started getting several calls a day from this phone number 712-429-0248...the caller ID says SLOAN,IA. I am on do not call list but haven't been on the 31 days that is required before i can report them. They are calling 5 or 6 times each day and it's getting on my last nerve.
Does anyone know how to block it?

THE #(712-429-0248) CALLS 3 OR 4 TIMES A DAY FROM 7AM TO 11PM. WHEN WE DO ANSWER THEY HANG UP,IF WE TRY TO CALL THE # BACK WE GET A RECORDING THAT SAYS THE # HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED OR NO LONGER IN SERVICE. WE ARE IN TEXAS AND OUR LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS TRIED TO CONTACT THE # EVEN THROUGH VERIZON AND NO ONE CAN TELL ANYONE ANYTHING. THE NUMBER IS ONE OF THOSE FAKE NUMBERS FROM A VOICE OVER SYSTEM AND FROM WHAT LITTLE I HAVE BEEN TOLD IS THAT THE PEOPLE THAT CALL FROM THE NUMBER ARE SCAMMERS AND HIT THE ELDERLY PEOPLE REALLY HARD BY GETTING A CREDIT CARD #. OUR NUMBER IS ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST SO WE HAVE NO IDEA ON HOW THEY GOT OUR NUMBER.

i am getting the same calls from the same number and place, they told me i won a shopping spree, and all i had to do was pay $1.95 for the shipping of the package. i told them i was not interested, and hung up, they still call, but now they hang up, it is crazy how many times they call during the day.

and i guess you just have to deal with it cause ive tried everything to put a block from that # but nobody seems to be able to help. But i wouldnt doubt it if its some kinda scam.so dont do anything if they ask. but for myself i just get no comment and when i call back i get # disconected.......Maybe its a GHOST !!!!!!

why are they allowed to do this.  Does it happen because of the phone plan?

They called twice this morning.  Once I didn't answer, second time it was disconnected when I picked it up.  No message on voicemail.  Caller ID said "IOWA".

I got a call from 712-429-0248.  Told me that I was 1 of 4 phone numbers in the state to win $1,000 shopping spree.  He said he's from Value Benefits of America.  He also used the 712-429-0250 number.

He gave me this #8669168814 to call.  His name was "fred slaytan" and he said his id # is 5155

Thia number calls at least twice a day, usually in rapid fashion.

I receive several calls to my cell phone which I do not answer
