My husband and I received a call from 1-713-955-0910 claiming to work for the national fraud service agency in Houston TX he claims his name is Thomas Reynolds and that my husband has three warrants out for him for a payday loan in which we received money for a closed account. He then proceeds to belittle my husband, then this morning he calls me cusses me out and tells me I am my husbands exwife and that I went behind my husbands back and got this loan he called me every name in the book because I called and told him that he was a scam and that he needed to quit calling us. He then called my husband back to tell him he spoke with his exwife and that i (his new wife of 5 yrs) is the one who got this loan and i was leaving him out to dry. This guy answers his phone and has an answering machine set up saying who he works for and his name. This needs to be stopped. The hard part is that this man had a lot of information on us and even called my husbands family and threatening them.

I got the same message, the call back number I got was 713-239-4598; they left messages telling me that I had to call the office back by a certain time because a they had an attorney at the county court house where I lived and were about to file charges for felony interstate fraud.  I call them because I new I had a debt and wanted it cleared.  I called them was told this script about the attorney being in the county courthouse at that time and they had to call the attorney to see if they could make an arrangement.  I knew it was a bunch of bologna but as I said I wanted this debt cleared so they would stop calling me.  After I made arrangements with the first person Amanda somehting..whatever the name was she used.  I asked questions regarding my balance, how much was the beginning, what happened to the monies I had paid before, will I get a receipt letting me know what my progress is, and so on... questions I had every right to ask.  The first person got bewildered evidentally and put a more agressive female on the phone, who did not introduce herself nor did she or the first person I spoke with give me the consumer debt collection statement that third party collectors are by law supposed to give.   She basically threatended me that if the $200 dollar payment that I arranged did not go through that they would pursue legally through the Charles County Court.  When I asked if it would be the Circuit Court, she just said yes, I believe again she had no idea.  So after a very long conversation.... I told them I was on a short break at work, which made no difference to them the arrangement was made.  That's when she told me that I had to pay the balance of the "Deposit" in 5 days; another $350.  I told them that I had just started working and that it would be impossible for me to come up with that kind of money in such a short period of time.  They kept threatening that if I did not the monies I made arrangements for even if the payment goes through would be null and void.  I told them in no uncertain terms that I would not be able to make that payment, and that I would call them on Friday.

I sent them an email on Friday, as I was unable to call from work stating again that I could not make a $350 payment.  I heard nothing else from Elite Investigations.  On Saturday morning when I went to my bank, all my money was gone.  They took my bank information from the transaction I authorized and took the $350 out of my account.  I was unable to pay my utilities, put gas in my car, or have transportation to get back and forth to work.   These people are corrupt and never ever give them any of your personal information.  They do not have the correct information when you ask for it, and when offering to repay the debt, because you can, they are still very threatening and aggressive.

I received a phone call from a similar number 713-261-1345 but mentioning same company name of Elite Investigations.    It was a lady who called and told me I had an outstanding debt and i told her i knew nothing about it.   She then put me on the line with an Aaron Westbrook who told me that i had an outstanding internet loan from 2006 and that i had a court date TODAY.   Also there would be an arrest warrant issued for me immediately if i did not appear in court.    He had a very old bank account number, an old address, and my social security number.   I know that i did have a loan about that time but i'm sure i paid it in full.   It scared me to death so bad i got sick at my stomach and didn't know what to do.    I asked him to please fax me documentation showing that i truly owed this money.   He said that he couldn't fax anything but could have an email sent, which would not come from his office because they don't correspond with individuals.   The fax came from Elite Investigations out of Houston Texas.   He put me on hold and came back to let me know that if i pay $690.21 today the charges would be dropped.   If not, the arrest warrant would be issued and they would pursue the $2890.21 in court.     I called the BBB in Houston and they do not have this Elite Investigations listed at all.    I am not going to worry about this at this point.   There should be something we can do to them.

They are not professional at all, they speak with a southern accent and cannot pronounce any words.  I believe they are a working for a payday loan company, in the past back in 2007, I did take out a payday loan, I paid all but 2 of them, so I believe they are looking for payment, I closed my account at my bank because they were fraudalent charging me, and my bank agreed.  I am not allowing them to threatening me.  They also told me that they had a lawsuit against me, I asked them what court no answer, so I told them I am calling the Attorney General Office in Massachusetts, and hung up.

I too received a call from these people today. A Kimberly Davis left a message and a "case number". First she didn;t even know my last name. Whatever she said was NOTHING like Stafford. She stated she was calling from a fraud investigation firm (No name of company given) and that my name and social security number had come up in a fraud investigation and that it would be in my best interest to contact her and if I chose not to she would see me in court. This is the second call I have received from this number 713-261-1403. Last year the same thing. Last year I clled the FBI and the United States Fraud Board or some such in Washington. They informed me htis was a scam and to ignore these type of phone calls. Sated if this was a legitamite company there would be certifiesd letters and more professional type of phone calls. Not threatening trype of phone calls.

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

I just got a phone call this morning saying that I had a payday loan and need to pay the full amount of $738(from 2009) (it is now 2012)  and needed to pay that amount within an hour to avoid going to jail! I admit I was a little shook up, but then I thought about it And googled this company and it is a SCAM!! And furthermore... I don't have any payday loans that are unpaid... Don't let them scare you... They're probably sitting in a cubicle making $7.25 an hour fighting for a bonus!!!!!

This jerk called me and left a message that if I didn't return his call by 4pm that he was gonna submit to the county where I lived and I would be arrested. Left some case number and said it was fraud with checking account. Then he called my mom and left a message similar to that. So first of all a legit company cannot legally leave a message like that with me and especially with another person. That is against the law . Second, I don't have any bounced checks and third there has never been any letter from a debtor. So this is a total scam....don't pay anyone over the phone...make a debtor send you proof if what you owe!

Logan Kane called me from a company called "Elite Investigations" and threatened me, saying they were looking into "possible fraud into my checking account" and that if I didn't call him back by 2 pm I would be issued a warrant for my arrest in the county where I live! Ridiculous! I called the office, left a message that the call was harassing, that I wasn't afraid of them, and that if they called again, I would report them.

Short Update- "Logan" called my number again but did not answer it. Listened to the voice mail and he was calling for somebody completely different!!! He used the same exact scripted words in his first phone call to me. That just reaffirms Elite Investigations is a debt collection agency.

UPDATE- "Logan Cain" called me back and this time I answered his call. He had received my previous voice mail and he stated he was not associated with a debt collection agency, made no threats regarding legal action and it had to do with check fraud on my part. I asked him the amount and who was bringing the legal action. He stated it was *T Financial" and then he stated some legal mumbo jumbo language about  "making a false or fraudulent claim in a loan application" or some such. I asked how I could settle this and he said of course I could pay the amount of money I "owed" to the financial company to settle out of court....HAHAHA....right,

I asked for proof of debt and "Logan" said he could mail or fax it to me. I gave him my valid junk e-mail address (It is a valid e-mail address, I just use it when I have to fill out warranty junk, or don't want spam sent to my real e-mail address). The fact that he agreed to send me a proof of debt to my e-mail tells me right off the bat that he is in the debt collection business.

"Logan" said he was with Elite Investigations and they are based in Plano Texas,  he even said I could Google the name and I did.... there is a web site for Elite Investigations but it is so amateurishly done, a 5-year old could make a better web site. It looks like a web site template was used to just get something "official" to display. The listed number is different from the one "Logan" called from and I looked it up on BBB and the owner is listed with a totally different mail address.

Again, know your rights and don't be scared into sending money on a debt you do not owe.

A "Logan Cain" left a voice mail and stated he was from "Lead Investigations" and asked  for me by name. He said it had to do with a check fraud case, left a case number and I had until 1PM to call back. He threatened to have a warrant issued for my arrest in the county I lived in.

Typical debt agency tactics, try to sound like a legal agency, give out a case number and threaten legal action which they have no right to do.

I called back 3 days later and got their voice mail. I said I knew they were a Debt collection agency and to send me proof of debt or we had nothing to talk about. If they persisted in threatening baseless "legal actions" I would hire a lawyer and report them to every government agency I could think of.

Don't get hoodwinked, know your rights and give the B*****ds everything back they dish out.

They first called my husband and scared him to death by telling him that there was a warrant out for my arrest at 4:00 this afternoon. I got the info from him which included the phone number, and a "case number".  I called the number, 713-261-1403, got a voice mail which identified them as ELITE INVESTIGATIONS in Houston, TX.  I left my name and number and the "case number", got a return call in a matter of minutes from a "Logan" somebody or other.  He proceeded to tell ME that this was BANK FRAUD on my account and then he mispronounced the name of the bank.  I informed him that I didn't owe anyone anything, demanded that they stop calling me and my husband and demanded that he fax whatever information he had to my attorney.  Gave him the fax number.  So far haven't received anything.  My actual conversation included a lot of profanity on my part which alluded to his parentage and where he could put his information.
