Scam - Extortion Scam
DEA Warns Public of Extortion Scam by DEA Special Agent Impersonators

The Drug Enforcement Administration is warning the public about criminals posing as DEA special agents or other law enforcement personnel as part of an international extortion scheme.

The criminals call the victims (who in most cases previously purchased drugs over the internet or by telephone) and identify themselves as DEA agents or law enforcement officials from other agencies. The impersonators inform their victims that purchasing drugs over the internet or by telephone is illegal, and that enforcement action will be taken against them unless they pay a fine. In most cases, the impersonators instruct their victims to pay the "fine" via wire transfer to a designated location, usually overseas. If victims refuse to send money, the impersonators often threaten to arrest them or search their property. Some victims who purchased their drugs using a credit card also reported fraudulent use of their credit cards.

Impersonating a federal agent is a violation of federal law. The public should be aware that no DEA agent will ever contact members of the public by telephone to demand money or any other form of payment.

The DEA reminds the public to use caution when purchasing controlled substance pharmaceuticals by telephone or through the Internet. It is illegal to purchase controlled substance pharmaceuticals online or by telephone unless very stringent requirements are met. And, all pharmacies that dispense controlled substance pharmaceuticals by means of the internet must be registered with DEA. By ordering any pharmaceutical medications online or by telephone from unknown entities, members of the public risk receiving unsafe, counterfeit, and/or ineffective drugs from criminals who operate outside the law. In addition, personal and financial information could be compromised.

Anyone receiving a telephone call from a person purporting to be a DEA special agent or other law enforcement official seeking money should refuse the demand and report the threat using the online form below. Please include all fields, including, most importantly, a call back number so that a DEA investigator can contact you for additional information. Online reporting will greatly assist DEA in investigating and stopping this criminal activity.

Call from someone (they mumbled the first part, so who was calling was unintelligible [how convenient for them]) said they were with DEA & they have a warrant for my arrest and a search warrant for my house!! This is BS.
DO NOT LET THESE DONKEYS fool you or scare you.  It is hard to believe that this company thinks they can get away with this...Wake up consumers!!  Report these calls so they quit interfering with our peace at home.
Listen to you message carefully...caller said "you purchased drugs from pharmacy, LEGALLY."  Also, said they are investigating pharmacies.

Thanks. Just spoke with FBI agent. Called the number back and told "thom Allan" not to call again. He said he's sending the "agents" to my house.    Never too old to learn the hard way.

This is a verified SCAM. Call your local DEA or even the DEA website and it will state this is a scam going on.  Report this to local police and FBI and your bank to see if you can get the money back. If you paid via Western Union or Money Card, those funds are gone. Hope this helps

Prank Call
got the same "open and ongoing investigation" call this morning. I don't answer the phone anyway unless it's someone I know, so it went to the answering machine. Called the Diversion Hotline (probably about as beneficial as telling my dog, but...) 1-877-792-2873 and left the recorded message with them.

Guy left a message on my voice mail today identifying himself as DEA Agent Thomas Allen.  Said I was to call back this number ASAP in regards to illegal online drug purchase.  Checked online immediately and saw the many scam alerts, then googled the number and ended up here.  It looks like these scammers have been using the same number for almost a year!  Why hasn't this number been taken down yet?

These b*****ds call my MOTHER  and tried to threaten her. Said she ordered Soma 4 years ago (she hasn't ever taken Soma let alone ordered any). My mother has been regularly drug tested by her pain managment doctor for close to 10 years and she strictly follows the drug regiment he assigns to her. When she said that he got angry and hung up on her. She figured it was a scam, but it still scared the s*** out of her (as she has legally in our state used medical marijuana in the past for severe back trauma, shes sensitive to the letters DE and A). I hope they track these b*****ds down.

I received a message from (713)386-5953, from a person that barely spoke English and said that I needed to call immediately from a man that called himself Tim Wagner with the D.E.A. This message said that they are filling felony charges against me and I need to call immediately. When I called he asked me if I had an attorney and I told him that I could get one and I asked what is this all about? He was very demanding that I give him information regarding an Internet purchase that I had made on-line. I told him that I didn't have any idea what he was talking about and he became very angry and told me to call my attorney because agents would be at my home to arrest me within 20-30 minutes. He never asked for any money. I asked him when did I make purchases for med's online and he said 5 years ago. I told him that that never happened and he became very angry and told me that agents are on their way and hung up. I called my local Sherriffs department and they said they have heard of this before and if a strange vehicle comes into my drive to call them and they will be here. I told the officer my concern was that they never asked me for any money and that he told me my address that they were coming to. My fear is that they may come to my home and kid nap me. He said they haven't had any reports of that happening.

Same story here.  They called me this morning at 5:30am and said I was being changed with purchasing medication on the black market and that they had intercepted a package. They also said there were sending an agent.  They were very demanding and threatning.  I also wanted proof and paperwork but they just kept putting me on hold.  The caller never asked for anythigng and I was on the phone for over 8min.  I reported it to the local police.

I received a call from this number....I was told Federal Agents were within 20 minutes of my home ready to search my home and arrest me, or I could talk to a dept that could dismiss all charges.  When I hung up, the "Agent" called back twice demanding I get on the phone.  Still waiting...NO AGENTS have shown up!!  I also received a call a couple of weeks ago from New York..same story.  When I told them to send paperwork so I could take it to my Lawyer..they either threaten me, or say they will send it, and hang up!
Check out the DEA Website....They warn of a Scam wanting you to wire money to dismiss all the charges...

Just Hang UP!!!!
