BEWARE OF THE WORTHLESS AFFIDAVITS SIGNED BY CEO, LEONARD JAY PRUZANSKY WHERE HE VERIFIES UNDER OATH THAT CITIBANK TOLD HIM --"SOMETHING."  THAT IS CALLED HEARSAY --EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK. THE FACT THAT HE STATES IT IN AN AFFIDAVIT AND HAS IT NOTARIZED- DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT THAT MR. PRUZANSKY HAS NO MORE KNOWLEDGE --OTHER THAN WHAT HE READ OFF A COMPUTER SCREEN.

good to know others are reporting this debt collection service which choses not to obey the fdcpa. i got a call friday from this number, asking for a person with a certain korean name. I truthfully told them I don't know anyone by that name and I've had this number (which has been a cellphone number for 2 years) for 5 years, and that for months I've been telling people who call under that subterfuge the same thing and not to call me again. The caller acknowledged being in debt collection (tho not the company name) and said they'd only had the account since november 3 and would not call back.

I'm not holding my breath, since the calls escalated after I reported some of my health insurance company's unethical practices to Virginia, the state that insurer insists is most favorable to them in not enforcing its laws and regulations (tho the insurer also boasts of its friends among "all regulators" state and federal and told me to check my policy's gag provisions while advertising both its "quality" and affiliation with United Healthcare and its big-data practices). Yup, I'm crazy enough to still refuse to pay a bill backed by altered electronic medical records, although my health insurer wins (as it says it always does) because I'm not getting treated for the medical condition it diagnosed soon after I subscribed (fyi it insists on its property right on keeping my diagnosis date as that of the first multi-party complaint letter, all hand-delivered and mailed copies of which my insurer says it never received)

I have dealt with LTD since earlier this year.  They broke the law and my attorney is on their case.  Don't let the bullies beat you up -- know the law and get an attorney.  There are attorneys that will take these cases at no out of pocket cost to you.

There will be monetary damages paid to me (and my attorney) either through settling out of court or lawsuit. (providing that I win the case)

Go to the link and read the law for yourself.  It doesn't list how much monetary damages are but it's well worth your time.  
1.  Record your calls.  
2.  Keep good and clear records of everything that happens.
3.  Save ALL letters and envelopes.  
4.  Android phones can download a free app called, RECORD MY CALL.
5.  Do not send any money to any company without proof of debt and proof that they are the company that has been assigned to collect from you by the original creditor.  (There are scam collectors out there.)
6.  Do not give your personal info such as checking account or/ including the last 4 of your ss#. They will refuse to talk to you but after a phone call or two they will usually give you what info they have and ask you to verify.  They often do not have all of the info that they are asking you to give.  So you are helping them out by voluntarily giving them what they are asking for.  Besides, you REALLY don't know who they are.
7.  You CELL phone is protected.  Once you tell them NOT to call your cell phone it is a violation for them to ring your cell number.  Monetary damages is either $1,000 or $1,500 for EACH time they ring your cell, even if you don't answer.  Save screen shots if you don't answer since it possibly won't show up on your itemized cell list of incoming / outgoing calls.
8.  Don't panic if you get sued.  Get an attorney to answer the summons and go to court for you.  A lot of debt collection companies lose the case because they DO NOT have PROOF that you owe the debt.  When they sue YOU they have to PROVE you owe.  When they purchase the debt they usually do not have what they need to win a case.  They are hoping to win because you don't know your rights.

They keep calling me asking for some guy who I assume might have previously had my phone number. Every time they call I tell them that I don't know who he is. They say sorry, hang up, and still call again a few weeks later. Either they don't believe me or they're not very smart. What a waste of time for everyone involved.

Robert called from Tucker ... asked for former owner ... said it was a "pre-litigation matter" and demanded to know the name of the owner now.   Tried to get more information and all I got was RUDE demands... Hung up .....   who are these people?

This number 7134142121 just called me asking for someone i have no clue who they were. the woman was very rude and she actually really pissed me off that I hanged up on them. Was really ticked off that i sent them a text message and trust me it wasn't a very nice one hahahaha.

They are doing the exact same thing to me.  The calling begins at 8:10 and various time during the day.  I too am not the person they are leaving messages for on my home phone.  I would like to know how to reject them from my home phone, I can do as you are doing with my cell phone, putting them on the reject list.

Yes, there are plenty of things that we can do. It is call the law. Harrassement is against the law and therefore you can get into serious trouble. Call me and see what the F*** I do!

You can click on "contact us" and there is a phone number and email address for consumers to complain.
As a rule, I don't answer calls from numbers I do not recognize or are blocked.  If the caller doesn't leave a message, they are S-O-L.

Are you really this stupid? They should be closed down by the BBB???? The BBB has never closed any business down in the history of the world. They have the same authority to close a business as you do which is NONE. The Better Business Bureau is a private business just like McDonald's. They are not any kind of government agency and they have no legal powers or authority. And statements like this are what's wrong with this country today. We are inundated with ignorant cretins who just blurt out whatever crosses their minds with no knowledge of any facts. Just make it up as you talk (or write). And so it goes.

I got a similar call - for the previous owner of my new phone number... they were polite, but they should know NOT to call again.

Got a call today to my NEW PHONE number... I guess I got the new number with calls from collection agencies as well as companies seeking payments.

I feel there should be a LAW that those numbers should not be sold to anyone... for at least period of 6-12 months!  I called them back and Aileen Johnson or Eileen? Whoever it is supposed to be the manager to remove the number. What the hell... why do I need to talk to her as you know... they never answer calls right away...

Repeated calls from this number, mostly in the morning 8-10am from Texas.

I just got a call from this number on 7/12/2001 in the morning asking for someone that was not me.  I have caller ID on my cellular phone and I did a research, this company has no reason to contact me.

This is a collection agency. They buy bad debts and call with collections frequently. The first people you talk to are nice enough, but not willing to work with you. I spoke with a manager or someone higher up and he was a total jerk. He was very threatening and kept saying that if I didnt pay right that moment then they would force us to have to go to court. They are completely unethical in practice and there is no doubt that they should be shut down. It was my wife's debt as well for a citi credit card. And they wouldnt even take an offer, just pay it now or see us in court, and threatened about their top end lawyers. Total BS.
