Debt Collector
All I can say for any of the debt collectors, cancel your land line unless you absolutely have to have it.  As in for a alarm system.  If you have to have it add a voicemail and turn off the ringer.  Move over to a decent Android cell phone.  I have a older Galaxy 2.  Add the DC #'s to your auto reject.  We are in the middle of bankruptcy due to medical issues and get a lot of calls now.  It only takes one time and I look the number up, then add it to the auto reject list on the phone.  I dont even know they call anymore lol. Just fun knowing they are scratching their heads.  They even leave voice mails from time to time.  Thats how you know  they are getting frustrated.  Hey call me back so I can bug the hell out of you.......uh no thanks.  LOL

I got a call today looking for Kim "kandi" evans. The person was really rude and wanted all of my information. They said she owed them thousands of dollars for medical treatment. I told them that we had broken up so she could pursue a career in prostitution at the bunny ranch. And that I haven't been with her in over five years. I told them to take me off their calling list and hung up the phone

Ive been receiving calls on my home line in southern California from the (713) 423-1058 number, these last two weeks. They keep asking for a Kimberly Evans or a Kim Scigliano.

Ive told them time after time that she works in the strips in mid west somewhere and that I have not seen her in over a decade.

But they still keep calling though. I have had this number for over 15 years and Im at the point that Im going to get it changed next week

Got called today. Called back and talked to a completely evasive jerk who wanted to know my name and phone number. I gave only my phone number and first name, but he refused to tell me what business  he represented, He just said he would take my number out of the system, Funny, I had just talked to a woman on the original call today, and she said she would remove my number. I hope between the 2 of them they can figure out how to do it. If not, then the Attorney General of Indiana may be able to give them a few pointers, since I am on the Do Not Call List.

Like the prior poster, this auto-recorded, auto-dialer phones your number and states this is not a solicitation or sales call...it is an attempt to collect a debt and time is running out and to please call them back.  They identify themselves as a company called Red Line Collections.  However, when I called back the number 713.423.1058 that should up on my caller ID, a voicemail answers with a guys voice and states:  "You have reached the office of Kenneth Luke.  Please leave your name and number your can be reached at and the best time to call you and I will get back to you as soon as possible."

The caller never identifies who they are calling for.  They also leave a toll free numbe to call them back on when they leave the message.  NEVER call back a toll free number, because regardless if you have blocking with your phone service so others can't see your number, THEY STILL CAN SEE YOUR NUMBER when you call toll free numbers.  This is because when toll free numbers were established, congress ruled they had to be able to identify who was calling them because the phone company charges for phone calls inbound to companies.

Got a call today, one of many, looking for a Carroll Keenan.  This is a business and there is no Carroll Keenan here.  Called them back to ask them not to call here again.  They claim to remove the number from their system.  We'll see.

Make sure you get the representative's name, or extension when you ask to have your number removed.  If it isn't, then contact management.  The agency is in the industry of collecting money from people whom owe it, no one else.  They do not intentionally pick your number, it is provided to them.  Until they are told it is a bad number, they assume it is a good one.  Yes, sometimes it is very old information.  Consider if they did not do their job, think about it everytime you make YOUR credit card payment.  Banks place millions of dollars with collection agencies every month, astounding amounts of outstanding debt.  Someone has to help recover the credit outstanding, Imagine if they didn't.

These people are looking for someone had the number before (>6 yrs ago).  They leave the creepiest voice mails - saying that if you aren't the intended party then hang up if you are the intended party then you aren't listening to the message in the presence of others (?????).  The caller is using a voice scrambler and it freaks me out.  Not sure how to stop this!

This call starts with a recorded message from Donny Jackson Collections, then gets transferred to a collections agent.

They have called my number several times and have been asked to remove us from their list as no one here is who they're looking for.  BUT, they keep calling back and insisting that they've never spoken to anyone, here.  The last guy was pretty rude and, when threatened with legal action, asked who our attorney was.  I gave him the law firm's name; he then said, "Oh, so you don't really have an attorney, huh?"

If they call again, they will find out for sure.

In response to post made by "PublicServiceMsg".  What part of debt collection is doing a public service.  Unless this money is going to the public or direct affects the public in a positive way it is not a Public Service.

Debt Collectors by definition are "A collection agency is a business that pursues payments on debts owed by individuals or businesses. Most collection agencies operate as agents of creditors and collect debts for a fee or percentage of the total amount owed."

This sounds more like a for profit business instead of a public service.  Also if there weren't so many predatory and rediculous practices that are finally being phased out of the lending industry we wouldn't have this problem in the first place, so please take a look in the mirror and remember you aren't doing the public any good what so ever.

I received a call from this number when I didn't have my phone with me. I called it back thinking it might be someone I know. The man who answered said his name was "Mike". I asked Mike who he was, meaning who he was representing. He replied "I just told you, I'm Mike." So I said "No, I mean what company are you?" and he told me it was called REDLINE. I said "What is redline? I got a call from you about 20 minutes ago and would like my number removed from your calling list." and he nastily replied "I didn't call you, you called me." And I told him "No, you called me about 20 minutes ago so i would like to know why." He then said he couldn't help me without my name, which I told him I didn't want to give until I knew why he called. While I was asking him another question, he hung up on me. I don't know what redline is, but Mike was unfriendly and extremely rude. My guess is he is a debt collector because I have received calls in the past when I first got my phone number from debt collection agencies.

Thanks for taking time out of your busy day to do PR for Redline, although I'll assume you're earning compensation. For the record, collections agencies do not keep the costs of products, businesses charge the maximum amount they can get away with, to say that they do any less is to say they don't know how to run a business or maximize profits. I further assure you that the "economy" would be just fine without debt collectors. In conclusion you're a do***ebag and everyone that you bother that comes here can see right through you're stupid BS.

alone.  Obviously you work for the company in question.

This company is trying to do a public service by collecting past due debt.  Sometimes the information provided is old or false, but the agency didn't make it up.  They have to find the people to collect the debt.  If they did not, what would the economy be in the united states?  Banks send millions of outstanding credit debt to these agencies monthly.  Millions of dollars not being repaid.  Keep that in mind next time you make your credit card payment.  Millions are not being repaid and all over the internet it's the collectors that are in the lime light.  How about the person that opens their own business on credit and files bankruptcy against the credit cards?  Or ... Millions of dollars of credit card debt transferred to collection agencies, monthly.  Keep that in mind when you think about bill collectors.  They are a public service, if you realize it or not.

The company is a collection agency.  If you call and inform them it is a wrong number, they will remove the number from the system.  If you have to speak to a manager to have the number removed, then do so.  Collection agencies do not condone employees that do no remove the numbers, and they cannot remove your number until you inform them.  They are not "scum of the earth", when without them, you would be paying astronomical prices for the products you buy since there are so many people out there using credit and not paying it back.  Where would the economy be if they did not get some of the credit repaid?

If they have the last 4 digits of your social security number, then they have the whole number and you are attached to the debt they are trying to collect.  They do not make these things up.  Some could be the result of fraud if you truly do not know about it, but the agency did not commit the fraud by trying to collect the account.  Someone you know, or work with, or are related to commits most credit fraud.  The collection agency is just the party that finds the true Mr. and or Mrs. Smith to find out about the fraud.  You should recontact them and if your social is actually on the account, you should file a dispute and or identity theft.

Call from someone saying they were collecting for a car that was repo'd.  I never had a car repo'd.  They had an old address i lived at with my now divorced husband.  He had the last 4 digits of my ss#.  I have been divorced from this man for over 16 years.  I am now remarried.  I finally told him he had the wrong #.  It is my daughters number he called on.  Kinda scary.  How does this happen?  Should I do anything?
