Calling my cell 3-4 times a day annoying. . .

Call a few times a day Sat & Sun morning at 8:00 AM, have answered & no one is on the other end. Tried to call back it's busy. Very annoying!!!!

I'm still researching this one, but this happened once before with a collection company out of New York. They had someone else's name associated with my number, and wouldn't stop with the automated recorded calls.

I finally found out who they were, found their BBB record on line, and started sending a fax every time they called. I explained that they had no reason to call this number and to remove it from their database.

But, the fax was a black background with white font. You guessed it. They didn't like burning up all that toner every time they spam-called me. The calls stopped pretty quickly.

Just started getting calls from this number today. Does anyone know the name of the company yet?

I'm getting five or six calls a day from this number (713)484-5108. No one will say anything, but keep calling even on Sunday 7/15/07. I have received two calls today first call 8:30 A.M then 11:00 A.M. How can this be stoped?

Been receiving calls from this number on both cell and home phone.  I believe they are legitimate, but when I call them back at the number that they leave, there is no answer.  As someone stated, they are very ineffective if they are a collections agency.  I would discuss the matter with them if I had any idea which bill they were calling about....

A spare phone in our office was being called by these people and they do seem to be legitimate.  I called them back and told them the person they were looking for (they offered that person's name) no longer worked here.  Someone with some furniture rental company had called my work line looking for that same person a few months ago because of a past due bill so this must be the collection agency for that company.  They said they'd remove our number from their calling list so we'll see.

I answer and there is nobody on the line.  They call at 6am

I have been getting calls from this number steadily for the past 2 weeks. They never leave a message and sometimes call every 2-3 minutes for hours on end.

These people called very early and ask to speak to my husband. I asked whose calling and they said okay and hungup.

Same thing.... I get this call on three different numbers 2-3 times a day.
When I answer, no is there.  WHY?  I don't know the purpose.  Sales?, A colletions status somewhere?  I don't know.  And I can assume someone is paying for these useless phone calls.  Us on our time, a company promoting their product, or a cmpany trying to collect money.  REGARDLESS  THEY ARE VERY INEFFECTIVE.  WE ARE ALL BEING SCAMMED by there LOSERS!

First of all, you didn't commit "a federal offense."  All you did was beat this jerk at his own game. Good job!  Invoking phony phrases like "federal offense" and threatening people with arrest is a typical sleazy collection agency tactic.  No collection agency or any other business has the authority to have anyone arrested.  So there's nothing to worry about that in that regard.

A few suggestions...since it's not your debt at issue here and they're harassing you, you may want to consider sending these bums a letter via certified US Mail instructing them that they are to cease and desist attempting to contact you. (If you'd rather not send such a letter yourself, you could have an attorney do it on your behalf.)  But writing a cease & desist letter is a simple matter and you can find samples of them online and adapt it your situation.

Here's a sample cease & desist letter: http://www.budhibbs.com/cease_comm.htm  If I were you, I'd use this particular sample letter and adapt it to say nothing more than this:  "Dear ____: This will serve as your legal notice under provisions of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act to cease all communication with me. If you fail to heed this notice, I will: 1) file a complaint against you with the Federal Trade Commission; 2) file a complaint with my state's attorney general; and 3) consult my attorney regarding civil action.  Sincerely ..."

If you want to assist your future son-in-law in this matter, he too could send a cease & desist letter via certified US Mail.  Though he would probably want to write a letter that more closely resembles the one on Bud Hibbs' website that I referenced above.  Also, if you or your son-in-law want an attorney involved, you may want to consider locating one through the National Association of Consumer Advocates; their website is here: www.naca.net

How can I stop these calls seeing I do not have any business with GE Money.  They are calling constantly and harrassing my home for someone that doesn't even live there.  I have tried to call them directly but I have to have an account number.  What can be done to stop these calls?  I'm at the point of changing my number which I do not want to do but they are making me.  They have to be stopped!!!!

Received 2 calls just this weekend and finally I lied and said I was the person they were looking for.  After finding out what they wanted I informed him I wasn't the person he was looking for.  He was threatening and said that I committed a federal offense and that they will keep calling me back every three days. He was looking for my future son-in-law who financed my daughters engagement ring. My daughter and future son in law state they never gave my home which in under my husbands name.  We do not like getting harrassing and threating calls from this number and need some help on how to stop it.

This number keeps calling me on my cell but I reject the call because the number is unfamiliar.

my husband and i are also recieveing these calls as early as7am at least 20x a day the first time we started getting these they were asking for john and leaving a # he should call but never leaving a name or who they are! these idiots need to stop this s*** now!!!!

More info, turns out the sales person from Rooms to Go added the insurance without our knowledge so he could get a bonus.  Called Rooms to Go to complain about their business practices.

This is a legitimate collection agency, not a scam.  Only thing that was a little sneaky was we bought a matress from rooms to go on their credit card service, paid the card off to 0 balance, well they decide to add insurance for the matress after we had paid off the balance.  We called 18662031043 and they gave us another number to call and we canceled the insurance.  No more calls.  Hope this helps anyone who is getting these annoying calls.

I get a call form this number same time every evening, very annoying

recording that calls all day long giving me time of operation and telling me this is not a sales call. I got a hold of someone one time and he wanted my phone number. How could they call if they didnt have it already..

I get a call from this number several times a day and never leaves a message. My daughter picked up the call one time and it is just a recorded message saying it is an urgent call and gives me an 800 number. I tried to call the number and it is busy.This is simply harrassment. I want to sue this company.

This caller calls constantly, have recieved up to 15 calls in one day. No one speaks when phone answered.  when I attempted to call the number back to find out who keeps calling, it is always busy.

This same number is calling our phone every few hours.  I suggest everyone report these calls to the government's "Do No Call" registry (and make sure you are signed up with them to block telemarketers as well).  The Website is located at www.donotcall.gov and has an option to submit complaints.  If everyone reports each call, even if this means submitting ten reports a day, maybe something will be done to stop this company.
