need to know who called me

Got a call from this number. Caller ID shows it is a pay phone.

This is a pay phone at the Harris County Jail. They are trying to scam you for free calls at YOUR expense. Call 888-815-9102 between 0700 & 1800 Mon-Fri to report it and have your number removed from the list by AT&T, the provider to the Jail.

Got a call from these numbers. Need to know how to block these calls

Someone keeps calling saying: "You have a collect call from the Harris County Jail". After you accept the call worried its a family member or friend in need of help, a man comes on and tells you he is "Sargent James" from the Harris county jail and asks if you know a John Johnson? After I made it clear that no police officer would call collect for an inmate; he said the inmate must have gotten on his line. As I aked for his badge number and what he wanted the line went mute with a ton of back ground noise. I assume that I have been scammed by a call center for the collect call charges. This is sad and I am pissed.

I followed the suggestion of Wise Sage.  However, it also sounds like a scam to me.  It's a recording from "AT&T" stating whatever.  You have to enter your phone number to have it removed from a "list" that inmates call.  I entered my number and then the recording stated I had not received any calls from 713-507-9945 in the past 30 days.  So, why am I writing this note then if I didn't receive a call?  Beware of this number. What a lot of B.S.

Now what?  It scared me when I heard it was from an inmate.  I racked my brain wondering who on earth could it be.  Like the Conroe, TX note, I was worried!  I'm pissed too.  Not only is it sad, inmates shouldn't have the ability to even do this! DO NOT ACCEPT ANY CHARGES!!!!

Jail phone keeps calling from 713-507-0903 + 713-507-0961

Same thing listed above, but they kept calling.  My husband called the number back and he said he was officer so-and-so and my husband said, if you are an officer, why are you calling collect?  He said something along the lines as stated in the previous comments, then he said to call 728-326-386-890 to reach officer Danny Davis, that there was someone in the back of a squad car giving our name and phone # and that we needed to verify some info. for the man in the car...well, then my husband asked why the officer in the squad car couldnt call us directly...I have no idea what the inmate replied...but, here I am writing this.  there were several differeit numbers:
713-265-9061, 713-265-9049, 713-265-9187 and 713-265-9059.  BEWARE!!!  so, so aggrivating!!!!

Thanks wise sage, I called the number and talked to Cindy at ATT.  She said she would block my phone #.

First time I got this call. Hung uo in the middle of the recording. Worried me and my wife.

Did *69 to get number, did search here and then called AT&T to block it.

Scam, scam, scam.  A whole lot of people spending time for ill-gotten gain. Amazing what might happen if they actually applied themselves to legal pursuits.
