I didn't answer but let it go to voice mail as I didn't recognize the number. It said I would be charged 3.50 for the first 3 minutes and that I shouldn't press *72, and that this was a collect call. It didn't state from whom. This was all voice automated. Another scam I presume. It also said that the charges could not be reversed. I better not get charged for a phone call from this number. The Caller ID said Pay Phone. I called the number back and the automated operator came on the line and said that the phone was no longer a working number and that it had been disconnected.

I just received a recorded message from this number (caller id read that it was a pay phone) stating that it was a collect call. I stayed on a little bit longer when the msg said not to use *72 -- it sounded legitimate and I listened for about a minute more...then the recording said that the phone call was going to be $3.50 and I hung up.

What kind of scam is this? Hopefully, I will not be charged for this recording.

I got a collect call from this number and accepted it. The recorded voice said it would cost $3.50 if accepted. The caller hung up when I said hello. I have three children living in the 713 area and many other family members.  I was afraid it was an emergency.  The call said it was from an inmate in the Harris Co. Jail.  My nephew had made that same collect call to me about a year ago.

Automated voice said I had a "collect call" but I didn't not wait to see what happened next...I hung up.
