My husband received a call from 713-658-1737 about 8:30 p.m. wanting to ask him about his stolen Ford F-250 truck. He told her he doesn't own one and she told him his wife asked her to call and talk to him about the stolen truck. She then asked him to verify his phone number. Didn't ask for any other personal info. He did not ask her name.

I got a call today saying someone filed a police report against me how do I find out is it real
Ann 2014-02-19 16:35:33 Unknown
This is HPD's main number that is used when detectives call you. The detective will leave his direct # so you can call back.
Finally I get a call that is NOT a scam (for once!!)

This number is located at 1200 Travis and is associatied with the Houston Police Department. No one answers this number because out going only. If you have any questions call internal affairs division and they will verify that anytime an employee calls from 1200 Travis= Houston Police Department Headquarters, 713-658-1737 will show up on the caller id.

It is a Houston PD Detective number. I was given the name "Officer Collins" but am uncertain if it is his private number or merely a general number.

AnnieK 2013-08-06 18:46:00 Unknown
This is a legit number from HPD. I reported a stolen debit card and they called from this number to go over my complaint.

I agree. this is exactly what happened to me today. i answered the call from this number, but before i gave my personal information to Officer Hogan, I asked for the investigator's direct number so I could call her back. I also asked what building she works in, and she told me 1200 travis. I checked online to verify that the address belonged to HPD and I also verified that the 713-308 prefix matched the department she said she worked in. I was happy to help with her investigation after I was able to get confirmation that she was really who she said she was.

This number is from HPD. You can act like it's not if you want to but you can find yourself feeling sorry and looking stupid later. If you have concerns contact HPD and confirm if the police are trying to contact you. You can call HPD headquaters with the officer name and phone number and verified if someone from HPD is attempting to reach you. I know someone who didn't after reading some of these post and later realized they made a big mistake. So think for yourself and check.

Who is this person claiuming to be a Sargent with HPD?
Mary Lopez 2012-09-25 17:24:08 Unknown
This man identified himself as a Sargent for the Houston police department and scared me. This should be illegal.

We filed a report last night on a stolen truck. We got a call from this number but they didn't leave a message so we are waiting for a call back. Hope they found the truck.

i had the same problem, a friend told me that someone fromt the police department called me about the report i had made, i try calling the number back, but i get anyone to pick up, like the girl above me said, no voicemail or nothing.
Elle 2011-06-06 20:55:15 Unknown
I received a call from this number and it was from the City of Houston regarding a job application that I sent in. It was an officer who wanted me to schedule a time to come in for an interview.
houstongirl 2011-06-06 20:55:15 Unknown
somebody called me from this number introducing himself as officer williams from the houston police department, he said that somebody filed a complaint against me and that am under investigation. I called back the number but no one answers, i called 411 and they said it is not listed and that it could be a cellphone number. i called number several times no voicemail or nothing! until i saw this website and found out that theres alot of complaints about this number. BEWARE!
bear 2011-06-06 20:55:15 Unknown
This number was on my cell phone as a missed call with 'no name'. I tried calling back but there was no answer. I don't give my cell # out to people I don't know, but I did include it on a police report four months ago.
hmm 2011-06-06 20:55:15 Unknown
Got 2 calls from this number late @ night. Vm picked up a man's voice in the background
chris 2011-06-06 20:55:15 Unknown
Its the city of houston switch board number....when you call it back no one will answer. It is one main number for the entire city of houston, so if some one is calling you from that number its someone from the city or from the police department. It is liget.
Nameless 2011-06-06 20:55:15 Unknown
I received a call on my cell phone AND home phone from this number back to back and neither are "listed" numbers. No vmails were left...but it IS very suspicious. There is no reason I should be recieve calls from the "City of Houston" or "HPD".
No Name 2011-06-06 20:55:15 Unknown
I also received a call from the number. I Googled the number after no one answered. I then called my cell from my office phone and guess what? The number on my caller Id was the 713.658.1737. The Houston Police Department located at 1200 Travis has several out going toll phone numbers. This is one of them. Any person calling from the building regardless of the 713 308-xxxx is routed through the 713-658-1737 number. It is an out going number only. If you receive a call from an officer always ask for their division and their phone number so you can verify who they are.
CharlieB 2010-06-16 17:32:13 Unknown
This is the trunk # for HPD(Houston Police Department). You can call it but no one will answer, it is only to call out from HPD. I called and Verified this with HPD. It is not a scam, it is legit!
muzzy010203 2010-05-06 03:31:49 Unknown
this is a real number..the dectective was working my theft case. he actually gave me all the info. i didn't share any personal info with him.
Andy 2010-03-28 15:17:46 Unknown
This number is legitimate!!! I work fot the police department. It actually could be from any one of several divisions as they all go through a trunk router whch makes out-going numbers random but incoming calls to desk numbers direct. That is the reason no one answers when you call it back. It does not go to a specific phone, just to the police trunk line.
If you receive this number on your caller I.D. it means a police officer is trying to reach you and did not feel like the information he was conveying to you was appropriate to leave a message. Trust me, if it was important, he will call back, otherwise, he likely reached you at another number or obtained the information some other way.
